Urgent! Gingrich Campaign Security Assaults Ron Paul Supporter!

I read this on Yahoo. Gingrich needs to answer to this. This is thuggery at it's worst!!

Dillard, a 29-year-old Ron Paul supporter from this suburb near Orlando, arrived to vote at his precinct at Winderemere Baptist Church early Tuesday morning. Pulling into the parking lot, Dillard noticed a man outside the polling place with a Gingrich sign. He decided to run home, slip into his "Ron Paul Rocks America" T-shirt, grab a "Ron Paul 2012" sign from his garage, and return to give his candidate some representation outside the precinct after he cast his vote.

Dillard found a quiet spot along a sidewalk lined with tiny American flags and held up his sign. Little did he know, Newt Gingrich had chosen that very spot to make his first Primary Day campaign stop.

When Gingrich's bus pulled up, Dillard stood silently holding his sign and watched the news-media horde swamp the candidate. Gingrich stepped down from the bus and made a beeline for Dillard. He stopped in front of Dillard and his sign and parked himself for a round of handshaking and pictures with voters. The placement couldn't have been worse. There was Gingrich, standing with his wife Callista at their first event of the day, and a giant Ron Paul sign floated inches from their crowns.

Noticing the awkward optics, Gingrich aides and security personnel swarmed Dillard, trying to intimidate him into moving. One of Gingrich's security agents stepped in front of him. When Dillard didn't budge, the agent lifted his heeled shoe over Dillard's bare foot and dug the back of it into his skin, twisting it side-to-side like he was stomping out a cigarette. Shocked, Dillard kept his ground and took a picture of the agent with his phone, which was quickly knocked out of his hand. Dillard slipped off his flip-flop to pick up the phone with his foot, and a Gingrich supporter kicked the sandal away...

We all knew the gloves were

We all knew the gloves were going to come off at some point in this race... yet I had no clue that actual violence would take place. This is a damn shame, especially considering the fact that MSM will largely dodge this or play it off as an isolated incident completely unrelated to the integrity (I just gagged using that word) of the Gingrich campaign.

This is the point in the campaign where we all have to understand with 100% clarity that individuals in a position to wield force against threats to the status quo CAN and WILL use any means necessary to reap even the slightest of benefits. I don't issue this warning solely to Dr. Paul, his staff, or his legion of organized followers. I refer to any individual who is willing to stand up against such an entity, which includes almost anyone reading this right now.

It is going to be overwhelmingly tempting to lash out at Gingrich supporters, but even a legitimate and rationalized stand against what is going on here will undoubtedly be viewed as childish and envious. The best revenge, in this case, is to make another donation in Dillard's honor and make an even firmer commitment to spreading the message of liberty to our family, friends, and neighbors. Let's make a pact right now to allow Dr. Paul's campaign to handle this incident (which, as many posters have stated, could indeed be considered both a hate crime as well as voter intimidation) in terms of public outcry and acknowledgment of Gingrich's staff's wrongdoing. As far as Dillard is concerned, he should be advised (I'm assuming some or even many of you may have been in contact with him) to seek legal representation in conjunction with the wishes and plans of the overall campaign. As far as we the people are concerned, it is up to us to post this news story to our facebook walls, send it to drudge, and refer our acquaintances to the article stating what had transpired. As always, exercise caution with the way you portray yourselves to potential converted Paulites!

I live in Pensacola, FL, and even I must admit that I was really down on myself and the campaign today. Dr. Paul's speech this evening turned it all around for me. I don't know what it is about that man, but whenever he talks about this movement it gets me jacked as shit to walk right back out the door and keep working towards our unified goal. We all have to heed his advice: no long faces, no throwing in the towel, no settling for another republocrat (as a side note, DP should definitely add "repbulocrat" to the list of legitimate words used in a post =P), and CERTAINLY no giving up on the ideas of limited government, fiscal conservatism, noninterventionism, and free markets. We've been taking shit for our views (at least, in the public arena as it pertains to this campaign) for less than a year now. The Good Doc has been booed, laughed at, scorned, and ridiculed for well over 30 years now. Listen to this man, he has the people and the organization in place to make waves in the coming weeks.

So this week, when people who know your allegiance are approaching you with a victorious smile and asking you about our man, respond intellectually and with optimism. The ideas are there. The numbers work. The man is on a warpath. If things go as Dr. Paul would like, we may look back on this end of Florida Primary evening as the moment from which our movement took off and launched itself into a one-on-one match against Barrack Obama.

Fearless, we have nothing to

Fearless, we have nothing to fear keep fighting!!!

Great Job!

Your sign looked awesome! I'm sorry you got hurt, what jerks those people are! Couldn't they have gone somewhere else when they saw you were there first? If they set up a media event in front of a person holding a Ron Paul sign that's their fault. I think this will inspire more people to go out and hold up signs for Ron Paul. But hopefully in steeltoes.

I think we have a Hate Crime case here.....

Have you all read what the definition of a Hate Crime is? I think what these Newt security guards, aids, and supporters did to Dillard was exactly that, and falls under the first Amendment "Freedom of Speech" and here is what Laws.com says about it:

What is Hate Crime?

A Hate Crime is an intentional, deliberate, and methodically-charged crime executed in order to cause harm or damage with regard to a specific victim chosen as a result of prejudice, racism, bias, and unlawful resentment. The range of Hate Crimes is a broad one.

Hate Crimes can range from racially-charged assaults to the defamation of property belonging to a religious institution. In a legal forum, no individual is exempt from being the victim of a hate crime. As long as there exist any definable traits or qualities latent within an individual or entity there can also exist illegal and unlawful actions directed towards that person or entity resulting from bias or prejudice.

Here is a link to the description:

Let me know what you all think please.

I have a problem with the

I have a problem with the concept of hate crime, it doesn't seem to be in harmony with individualism.
I absolutely think it's wrong to commit a crime against an individual because of bias or prejudice, but I also think it's wrong to commit a crime against an individual !

These things also happened in NH here http://fiveminutestilmidnight.wordpress.com/2012/01/13/the-t... and here http://youtu.be/1MRcZCXAKEM
None of the other campaigns has had these type of incidents happening.

You are a better man than me Dillard

I would have knocked that guy out, or slipped in a bare naked choke on his ass and put him to sleep. Your sign looked awesome in the middle of all of that filth around you. Awesome work, and I will even give you a Semper Fi!!! Keep up the great work!!!!

I would suggest a *rear*

I would suggest a *rear* naked choke, but whatever floats your boat.

Positioning was perfect for

a backhand rear nad punch. Those really sting.

Go ahead Neil, true colors are showing. Creep.

Easy on Neal

He has been very fair with Dr. Paul. He's reading the news they gave to him.

πολλα γαρ πταιομεν απαντες ει τις εν λογω ου πταιει ουτος τελειος ανηρ δυνατος χαλιναγωγησαι και ολον το σωμα

He says if "we" did

this to you...No, it doesn't work that way. I wouldn't even ask a Gingrich supporter to go away, much less assault him.

The difference is I'm NOT trying to pretend Gingrich supporters DON'T EXIST.

Defend Liberty!

Have you met any Gingrich supporters?

I know a couple of people that will likely vote for him, but they don't really like him.

Galen

gseaman

blowback. . .

Cant wait to see it on newt romneys campaign trail. Lol.

i hope this will be the only bruise

He must bare in this campaign for freedom.

I'd like to see...

Ron "the doctor" Paul and Newt "the newt" Gingrich have a bare knuckle brawl, followed by a 25 miles bike race. Newt'd get bruised all right, and have a heart attack.

The best part

is you didn't stoop to their level and swing or anything...Nicely done.

Video everything

I am standing next to Dillard right now.

His foot is indeed bruised.

Mirand Sharma

mirad_sharma, read John's comment

below and have Dillard follow through on it. John is correct about this.

Dillard should do this for himself and for liberty! He did nothing wrong and was subject to assault and battery His right to be there was violated by another person to the point of injury. Don't let this go.

John P. Slevin's picture

Thank you

Nonna, Thank you, I have fairly extensive paralegal experience working such issues and related litigation matters.

The advice I offered in the other comment is standard things a law office would tell you to do just as quickly as possible.

Only thing I omitted was to make as detailed a written account of this while it's all clear in your mind, time and date it and if possible notarize that record.

I probably wasn't clear that for having "reliable parties" look at the wounds I meant show the injuries to people who are reliable and later might be needed as witnesses who can attest to the injuries.

John P. Slevin's picture

I hope he will be ok

Thank him.

Also recommend to him that he should see an attorney.

Because he has suffered injury an attorney likely will take this case on contingency, meaning Mr. Dillard will not need to pay the attorney up front and will pay only if he recovers enough to pay.

He has been assaulted, there was battery with bodily injury and his rights of expression have been violated.

He needs to go to see a doctor and to get a record of his injuries.

This should include photographing and also showing the injuries to reliable parties.

He should see an attorney right away and the attorney probably will advise him regarding the possibility of filing a police complaint against those who attacked him.

Get a record with names and contact info of anyone who might have witnessed anything.

One good witness he already has is the reporter who filed the Yahoo! story.

That should be done right now.

Best of luck!

Post Pictures!!!

File an assault and battery charge!!!

Boo

Freedom isn't Free!

Dillard-

Great work my friend! I am proud to be associated with your actions today. Standing your ground is no small....um....feet (pun intended).

Your actions capture my desire to fight. Thank you!

Peace!

Wasn't Adam Kokesh also

Wasn't Adam Kokesh also shoved by a Gingrich security guy in NH? I believe he filed charges.

John P. Slevin's picture

possibly the same security guy in each instance

Good question. Yes, and I just viewed the video of that encounter.

The guy who was very negative toward Kokesh looks alot like the guy I see in one of the photographs regarding Mr. Dillard.

I don't know who is who in the current fracas, but just thought I'd mention it.
