UPDATE VIDEO Interview:Ron Paul supporter says Gingrich security officer fractured his foot, Plans to press charges

The Ron Paul supporter who had his bare foot stepped on Tuesday in Florida by one of Newt Gingrich's private security agents says a doctor has diagnosed him with a bone fracture, and that he is planning to file a lawsuit and press charges.

The candidate was not involved in the altercation. Gingrich, who was greeting supporters in front of Dillard, was cordial with him and even addressed Dillard when he approached him.

After Gingrich departed, Dillard noticed a small bruise on his foot, and thought little of it. But later that day, he says, the swelling increased and his wife urged him to go to the hospital for an X-Ray, where a doctor informed him of a fracture. Dillard, who has health insurance, is currently wearing a medical boot. He provided his release papers from the medical facility to Yahoo News.

Gandhi's endorsement

Dillard's story brings Gandhi to mind. Here are some pertinent quotes of his:

Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.

Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

Intolerance betrays want of faith in one's cause.

In matters of conscience, the law of the majority has no place.

Truth never damages a cause that is just.

Nobody can hurt me without my permission.

The pursuit of truth does not permit violence on one's opponent.

Is there any video of the

Is there any video of the incident or any idea of who would even be charged?

Part 2 of the interview

I don't think there is any video of the incident, but part 2 of the interview says they are planning to sue the private security company and potentially newt2012.

"We just marched in; we should JUST COME HOME."

First Amendment was violated

Yahoo news first reported that Mr. Dillard was there first, however, in the 2nd article (update)...they completely ignored this and made it look like Mr. Dillard was behind Newt waving his placard. Regardless, Newt violated Mr. Dillard's First Amendment Rights and this should be the focus of the lamestream media, but I don't expect we will see anything like that...If it was the other way around, this story would be all over the News. I hope Mr. Dillard seeks justice for violation of his first amendment rights, as well as pressing charges and seeking damages for his pain and suffering. Good Job Mr. Dillard.

How about a "fix his foot" chipin?

I'd give the guy $20. Let's show the compassion of liberty.

I say...

...let a judge in civil court pry some "compassion" from the wallet of the Grinch.

Not that I'm against helping a fellow Paulite, not at all, but we don't need to intervene here. As the article says, Eddie has insurance, so he's not down and out. This isn't an important story because some poor fellow was harmed, this is important because it allows us to send the message that you can't just brutalize citizens whose political views are inconvenient.

I'm sure Eddie is thinking the same thing: he's suing to prove a point, I'd imagine, not so much for compensation in its own right.

*note to self...

...then they fracture your damned foot, THEN you win.

Bhaha

The goons should definitely

The goons should definitely pay for this.

On a side note, was it necessary in this yahoo article to point out that Dillard has health insurance. This seems irrelevant. The original sentence says this: "Dillard, who has health insurance, is currently wearing a medical boot." But it could easily say this: "Dillard is currently wearing a medical boot." Why the extra detail?

malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

It'll be the difference between

him personally filing suit for the medical bills and the insurance company doing it on his behalf.

Defend Liberty!

Hadn't thought of that. Maybe

Hadn't thought of that. Maybe. Though I think there was more a political undertone here.

malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

I was wondering that

myself.

Contact your congressman Mr. Dillard

I'm pretty sure that is Daniel Webster and I am also pretty sure that just happened to be Daniel Websters church. But as his constituent I would demand MY congressman step up and represent.

This summation described above is milk-toast mild

compared to the Yahoo article I read. "The Ron Paul supporter who had his bare foot stepped on.......noticed a small bruise on his foot, and thought little of it".

The original Yahoo article actually described the intentional attack. This article makes it sound like somebody accidentally stepped on while being cordial. It appears to me like media distortion (IMHO).

A vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil.
A vote for liberty is always a vote for liberty.
I will vote for Ron Paul as either the nominee or as a write in.

responsibility

If the press can hound Dr. Paul about 20-year-old articles written under his name, if they can demand an apology and suggest he "give the money back," it would seem to follow that Gingrich would be held responsible for an assault committed in his name, that he denounce the action, and that he give back the money he made off it.

Go for It, Mr. Dillard!

You have the law on your side, and witnesses.

It would have been bad enough if the Gingrich Goons had just stepped on your toes, as they were encouraging one another to do. However, you have the Yahoo reporter's testimony that it looked like the main thug was grinding his heel into your foot, as if stamping out a cigarette. That right there makes this a certifiably vicious act -- and worthy of an assault charge, plus compensation to the max. Punitive damages need to be heaped on top of any medical compensation you get out of this.

Yes, get full compensation...

Yes, get full compensation from whomever is responsible for the cash flow, but a broken bone? That's ASSAULT AND BATTERY and the jackbooted thug that did it belongs behind bars!

Freedom is my Worship Word!

Actually according to their

Actually according to their statutes it looks more like Aggravated Battery, a second degree felony.

Add Adelson

To the lawsuit for hiring the thugs.

It's assault and battery long before there's a fracture

I've done some pretty crazy stuff without (often) fracturing a bone. That's torture to go that far on purpose.

Defend Liberty!

"The candidate was not involved in the altercation."

.....well you don't have to be explicitly "involved" when you have hired thugs.... This is part and parcel of how the Republican machine does business... Now the Rep. Party has excluded Ron Paul from CPAC apparently....because he may embarrass them by WINNING the straw poll AGAIN as he did in 2010 & 2011. Wow....yup...they are a "Grand Old Party" alright...just like the mafia....no...the mafia has more ethics...hahahaha

Thank you Mr. Dillard

Mr. Dillard,

Thank you for your efforts on behalf of the Ron Paul campaign.

I'm sorry to learn of the fracture in one or more bones in your foot.

I hope you are adequately compensated for your injuries and what is a serious deprivation of your rights.

Most of all I hope you quickly recover to full health.

Sue the camp for $1.9M!

Sue the camp for $1.9M! ...Reportedly, that's all they got left on hand! LOL!

Mr. Dillard, the Brave

Please tell Mr. Dillard that I would love to send him some natural medicines to ease his plight. He needs the Oreganol and also a natural antidote to the swelling and inflammation known as InflamEEZ. Will send, N/C: drkresearch@hotmail.com or he may provide me his phone number; I'll call him. Would love to interview him for the book.

Will put his story in the book right away. Go for it, Mr. Dillard; we'll help you.

I'd sue for janitorial labor

As Gingrinch seems keen on that anyway

Lots of witneses

There was a reporter from Yahoo there amongst others. It should be pretty easy to prove his case.

RPGF

Yeah, that yahoo article

didn't have all those "according to witnesses" statements in it. It was written like a first hand, outraged account.

Defend Liberty!

Sock it to them

I hope that he filed a report and has witnesses. You know that the Gingrich team will play dumb with this..I know any of the rallies I go to from now on I will be prepared for this kind of Nonsense.

Next time

Paul supporters go out to a storm trooper blitzkrieg rally for Newt "Reinhard Heydrich chief of the Reich Security Main Office" Gingrich - wear your steel-toed high hard boots.

And bring your heater because you might just need to protect yourself.

Next time they won't just mamby pamby step on people's feet. We absolutely need to stand up for each other and protect fellow patriots.
