PPP CEO - Nevada is particularly hard to poll

"I've had a lot of trepidation about polling the caucuses in Nevada, Minnesota, and Colorado in the coming week," said PPP CEO Dean Debnam on the company's web site.

"Caucuses are particularly hard to poll and for whatever reason the state of Nevada itself is hard to poll," he added.

Let's look back four years ago, when Romney won the state with over 51% of the caucus vote. Which polls got that?

Bzzzzzzzzt.

Your answer - no one.

"In 2008 none of the polls there came within 22 points of Romney's margin of victory," said Debnam.

And that makes you wonder about any polls in Nevada, along with Colorado and Minnesota, two other caucus states that start their work next week.

I'm surprised to hear this answer,

since the polls are reporting Paul in last place, again, with only 9%. I'd think they'd say these polls are "within the margin of 1%", not that they don't really think the polls are too accurate. If, on the other hand, Paul was polling in first place, then, I could understand them trying to discredit themselves. Anyway you slice it, Paul needs to start doing better than last place....this is wearing thin, especially when you consider Santorum ain't even trying in Nevada.

Good Post

Very good post by The Daily Paul.

Polling a caucus state doesn't involve accurate measurement of the enthusiasm of each person polled.

Can't be done.

We all know who has the most enthusiastic supporters.

Rock on!

IF you cant poll it correctly SHUT THE F UP

I truely hope 9% is not correct.

The newest PPP has RP up to

The newest PPP has RP up to 15

The newest PPP has RP up to

The newest PPP has RP up to 15

Good to know...

...that explains the massive disparity in recent polls (Paul 9% versus Paul 24%).

Well, I like surprises anyway, so we'll just see what we'll see tomorrow.

My pure guess is as follows: 50% chance Paul wins, 85% chance Paul either wins or gets second, 99% chance Paul gets either first, second or third, and 1% chance Paul gets 4th.

Romney's win in 2008

Doesn't prove NV is hard to poll. It shows that the numbers were fudged.DUH!

Agree...

I have suspected since 2008, votes above a preset percentage are "skimmed" to the preferred candidate, this was proven in a court of law and was proven very effective in the 2000 election campaign. In 2008, after disappointing results in NH and NV, the RP campaign workers lost a lot of their enthusiasm causing the Paul campaign to loose it's momentum because he polled very well in NV only to see Romney win the State easily.

I fear this election year is no different IA skimmed votes to Santorum, NH to Gingrich and SC to Gingrich and FL to Romney - each time fixing the results so there's no clear out-right winner (I still shake my head over SC votes going to Gingrich)

Preparation through education is less costly than learning through tragedy

And there you have the

And there you have the scumbox that is Nevada.

Nevada Caucus

My mom who lives in Las Vegas just got an automated call with Mitt Romneys actual voice. Said something like this "Hello, this is Mitt Romney, how are you,,, let me tell you about....

My mom is a Romney lover and I just can't convince her about Ron Paul. She is a big fan of O'reily and believes Ron Pauls foreign policy is dangerous.

I do have my dad convinced in Ron Paul though.

Unfortunately, only my mom is going to the caucus.

Good tip

Everyone gave me incredibly great advice, but the one that stands out is the Glen Beck clip. That should hold a lot of weight because my mom is Mormon (I'm not) and does indeed like Glen Beck (he is also mormon)! I found and emailed a similar, but different Beck clip that didn't include any negativity on foreign policy and emailed it to my mom. I will call my mom tomorrow before she goes and talk about the clip. Wish I knew about Glen Becks endorsement before. Send my mom to the spa or flatten my moms tires, I got a laugh out of that one! I am in a different state now.

if she is a fan

of o'rielly she might be a fan of glenn beck too and if she is then show her this video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wyx9tw0TEPM

Glen video

The Glen Beck clip is a great idea, my mom is Mormon (I'm not) and does indeed like Glen Beck (he is also mormon)! I will call my mom tomorrow before she goes and talk about the clip.
Thanks for the tip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While you distract your mom

Get your dad to go caucus!! Do something!

Find something else for your Mom to do that day.

anything.
Just keep her out of the caucus, by any means possible.
Let the air out of the tires if you have to.

Rally at THE BATTLE OF TAMPA

Early Mother's Day Gift...

...buy her a day at the spa..some spa out in the desert far from any polling place..LOL...two birds with one stone, earn points with the man upstairs and secure Paul another net vote.

Near Reno, I can report

that I have gotten two such calls in the last two days. One introduced a clip from Tom Brokaw and the other was the Romney voice. It seems they can be quite effective, especially with the older voters, as they are still what I call "believers." "Oh that nice young man called me and he is just so polite and caring." Last night's call was not a good move on the Romney camp's part, though...9PM. Too late to be polite, imo.

I was able to convince a

I was able to convince a neocon (who loved O'Reilly) too to support Ron Paul and maybe this will work for you. Remind them that we are on the precipice of a complete economic collapse. Show her John Wms' hyperinflation report 2011 on the front page of his website shadowstats.com. If she doesn't believe you before, she might afterwards. The year on it is simply the update. He just updated it for 2012 but it's not available to the public for a couple months. John Williams is a government stat economist who uses the old formulas (rather than the suped up pretty ones to hide the truth) to figure out where the economy is exactly. He is an Austrian economist that Fortune 500 companies follow. Sometimes, you'll see a post on his front page and the markets will react to it. Don't mention Ron Paul first. Send her a little bit of the first part of the hyperinflation report. It's frightening. Mentions that the U.S. has no way to avoid economic catastrophe, outside timing is 2014. It goes into detail what is happening, why (with detailed charts), and the repercussions of a collapse. He also includes Weimar history in it. Even if you show her just the first part of it, if you can just convince her of what's coming, then you have to ask her whether this country can afford more war, militarism, welfare state,....period. The neocon I convinced...I told him we'd be limping back from overseas anyway. In 2008, I remember Dr. Paul saying it would be better to end the wars and bring the troops home peacefully rather than us coming back with our tails tucked between our legs because we had to come back (due to a collapse). If the dollar collapse, EVERYONE WILL LOSE. If you can convince her that this is all coming, you let her know that Romney's economic advisor is of the Keynesian school of economics, just like Obama and he will contribute to the same problems that are causing the coming dollar collapse. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you. Tell her that if we don't take care of our own house now, we won't be able to take care of Israel or anyone else for that matter. Tell her that our foreign subsidies to Israel's enemies are more than what we give Israel (which doesn't help them). And that it's all going to end anyway when the dollar collapses. Make sure she knows that right now, the dollar is worth about 13 cents or less than it's original full amount in 1913 when the Federal Reserve was created. I hope some of this helps.

Here's just a little piece of

Here's just a little piece of the opening paragraph of the Hyperinflation Report 2011......

"The U.S. economic and systemic-solvency crises of the last four years only have been precursors to the coming Great Collapse: a hyperinflationary great depression. Such will encompass a complete collapse in the purchasing power of the U.S. dollar; a collapse in the normal stream of U.S. commercial and economic activity; a collapse in the U.S. financial system as we know it; and a likely realignment of the U.S. political environment."

Sociopaths with their fingers on nuke buttons

Are dangerous....

just ask your mom

where is the money going to come from to pay for more adventures overseas...

just use simple questions ,back to back, to punch holes in the status quo.

Two choices

Either their social security checks or their grandchildren's paychecks.

That choice is NOT being

That choice is NOT being offered by anyone except Barack Obama. No one is threatening to cut off SS cheques to seniors.

SS is cash negative at the

SS is cash negative at the moment which means that it is spending more money then it is taking in. The "trust fund" is 2.6 trillion or so of Government bonds. So while Barack said something along the lines of he didn't know if the checks would keep mailing if the debt ceiling wasn't raised he was actually on to something.

The automatic cuts only kick in when the "trust fund" is depleted of it's no existent money so the only real way to keep checks mailing is to increase the supply, offset spending elsewhere or finance it. Guess which one is the easiest to do.

If I am factually wrong about something please someone correct me.

You Asked...

The "Treasury Bonds" you refer to aren't really treasury bonds at all. To my recollection, they are affectionately called "SLUGS". The term seems appropriate since they are nothing but a representation of a bond (not negotiable) held in a file cabinet by the treasury department.

This is a dated article form the Clinton years, but not much has changed, it has only become more hilarious.

http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=199...

From the article,"OK,

From the article,

"OK, they're not real. They're pseudo Treasury securities.

Investors no longer get honest-to-goodness Treasury bonds they can hold in their hands. For decades now, Treasury securities have been handled through a computerized system of book entries."

It looks like this applies to everyone who invests in T bills so I'm not seeing how these are different. If the government were to ever pay them back (stop laughing) they would come with both principle and interest.

"Income from payroll taxes flowing into the Social Security system will be sufficient to pay benefits for 14 years. But starting in 2012, Social Security is going to be knocking on the government's door, asking to draw upon the interest - and later the principal - tied up in the Treasury securities sitting in the trust fund."

though my dad

is saying positive things about ron, he's so whipped by my mom it's just sad.

Book recommendation for mom

Anyone who doesn't understand Ron Paul's foreign policy should be recommended the book: Imperial Hubris by Michael Scheuer. He's not some talking head on TV either. He's an expert. Scheuer was a twenty-plus-year CIA veteran who served as Chief in the Osama bin Laden tracking unit at the Counterterrorism Center. (but most Paulbots like us know that)

Thanks,

I also think the Ron Paul commercials on TV should ONLY be about foreign policy, it seems to be the sticking point that people just can't accept (due to brainwashing I guess).

I have been trying since 2007 to convince people about Ron Paul, but with limited success. I have turned a few people onto him though.
