Film Critic Roger Ebert gives Ron Paul THUMBS UP!

"It’s not an official endorsement, but film critic Roger Ebert gave Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul a good review on Thursday night, tweeting: “Ron Paul is the only one I'd want to sit next to on a long airplane flight.”

Ebert has singled out Paul as the best of the bunch before. Earlier this month, he wrote, "Leaving politics out of it, what sets Ron Paul aside from every other GOP candidate? He's the only one who's cool." And in December, he called Paul the only Republican candidate "who speaks directly and clearly without a lot of hot air and lip flap.”"

Even a hint of a "thumbs up"

Even a hint of a "thumbs up" for Ron from Roger is frankly, very surprising to me. I've never read a kind word from him on any Republican.

Support freedom and liberty candidates in 2012... Ron Paul... Gary Johnson...

Ebert's recent bout with cancer

makes his endorsement of Ron that much better. Most celebs who have to deal with a dread disease come out in favor of health care reform. Obama probably thinks Roger should be in his camp, especially being from Chicago.

He's an Obama Democrat - he did not endorse Paul

Of course Obama Democrats prefer Paul to all the other GOP candidates, but that doesn't mean they would vote for Paul over Obama.

Minarchism
track

I'd have to watch it again, if I can find it.

But, I thought I have heard him say he does actually like him for president, as in, he would vote for him.

A good point!

Ebert

recognizes the other candidates are poor actors.

Good One

Guys thumbs this guy up for such a amazing comment.

These endorsements scare me.

These endorsements scare me. An endorsement is better then no endorsement at all, but it gets my hopes too high like they were in SC with Tom Davis. If his endorsement caused Paul to surge in votes, I don't want to even think what Paul would've gotten without his endorsement. :(

Your endorsement is your

Your endorsement is your vote. I would hope that you have been telling others about your endorsement in order to get them on board.

What is different about an endorsement from a celebrity?

How are the mechanics any different really?

With no endorsements from anyone, RP would have zero votes.

I understand what you're

I understand what you're implying, but if that's all the public opinion was of an endorsement, then it wouldn't be covered with the media and news outlets. I mean didn't we announce the Tom Davis "vote" during a pep-rally event, along with the news the day before of 2 major endorsements in Maine>

I was hoping it would follow the thought of "ok, I voted Tom Davis into office and I love all of his ideas and the way he has voted has been impressive so since he is in it for Ron Paul, so am I"

I'm afraid only a handful of people see it that way. I guess it would've also helped if more of the media actually covered the Tom Davis endorsement and if Ron could've mentioned it during the Debate(s)
