Forgotten Man on Drudge w/Obama Stomping Constitution

...didn't see an;yone comment about this. I think Drudge may have picked this up from us and has the painting front page as controversial.

I am the one waaay down below who just assumed that it depicted Ron Paul saving the Constitution. Yes, it apparently was meant to be James Madison. So I was wrong?

Perhaps not. If you read the artists' blog...he says while he has reservations, if he had to pick one of the candidates right now it would have to be Ron Paul. But that he would vote his conscious (meaning he didn't have to tell anyone who he was voting for..or he hadn't really decided...both valid).

However...I immediately assumed it was Ron Paul for two reasons. The first is that of course it IS Ron Paul saving the Constitution right now. And, to me it looked like a kinda poor representation of him...and yet him.

I think since we know the artist likes Ron Paul's stance on the Constitution, he made James Madison look a lot like Ron Paul. Go check James Madison pictures...looks a little like him ,but way more like Ron Paul.

Artist intent or not. It is VERY good press for us.

Wow once again you guys rip up others

This morning someone asked for advice, he was ripped up by the people here, now I see an amazing piece of Artwork and again people rip it apart in the comments. Only the most shallow of men can judge ART. Unless you are the artist, you won't know exactly what he wanted to express. Every detail has its place and meaning.

From an "artiste"

I majored in studio art at the University of Houston. I paint in oils. I would not presume to say it is "bad" if people like it. But I will say it is blatantly obvious what he "wanted to express." It is a political cartoon without humor or compelling visual design. But if you like it, then it has merit. Art work is to be viewed and enjoyed.

Hmmm, not here.

I've seen some pretty bad stuff in the comments. These comments seem to be aimed at the portrayal of the presidents in the picture and where the artist might have gotten it wrong. Surely no one is criticizing the beauty of his painting. Meaning... I actually don't know what I'm talking about. That happens to me after writing 3 sentences in a reply to a comment. Then I'm like: Why am I here? Why am I talking to anyone here? Why am I not out convincing people to vote for Ron Paul!?!??! WHY ARE ANY OF YOU HERE!? GET OUT! LEAVE! GET VOTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you!

"These comments seem to be aimed at the portrayal of the presidents in the picture and where the artist might have gotten it wrong. Surely no one is criticizing the beauty of his painting."

Exactly! He is obviously very talented.

Interesting..but I didn't get

Interesting..but I didn't get anymore from the video than I did from the painting and Nonna's comments. I had not noticed the flag was at half mast..I understand the common man thing, and it is hard not to understand the founders vd the rest..but WHO or what are they all looking at? Ron is not in this pic yet everyone said he was, or that this had something about Ron in it..? Oh well. It is very well done and Obama and Bush should both be stepping on it, as Bush did it first and with muddy shoes, too..

Somebody should make a copy

Somebody should make a copy of that video, slap a fancy Ron Paul 12 logo at the end (like from here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QN9Fgsai6lQ) and upload it again! Lots of times.

At the very least, we should bomb all videos like this with Ron Paul comments! This is a hot story right now because it's on Drudge.

Just remember that Lincoln was the first to

initiate an income tax. If you didn't know that do some home work.

What I want to know are 3

What I want to know are 3 things. Who are they all looking at? Why does Obama look mad while others are clapping and the Founders looking horrified?
Last..where is Ron Paul?

Hi Crickett.

It seems we are always on the same posts together. Great minds...

It is easier for me to answer your questions in reverse order.

3. Ron Paul is behind Obama trying to save the Constitution Obama has stomped his foot on.

2. Not so sure it's anger. Looks to me like arrogance.

1. Ah... who are they all looking at indeed! I am assuming you mean the people on the right hand side of the painting. Put it all into context and there is only one answer to that... Without naming it, I would just say they are signaling to their masters "Mission Accomplished". Notice the flag on the WH at half mast?

James Madison

I'm pretty sure that's James Madison. He is referred to as the father of the constitution, after all

Could be Madison.

I thought it was RP because of the comments I'd read. I will admit that I had to look at the photo a couple of times to find RP. Look at the face! Reincarnation? (just kidding)

Hairstyles

The most distinguishing feature on all the presidents as far as telling them apart seems to be their hairstyles. The stooped figure has the point above his forehead, hair combed back, and balding to either side. Ron, as we now, combs his hair over to one side. Also, I counted 43 presidents, including the Madison/Paul figure. Since Bush is the 44th, and Cleveland served twice, the number is correct.

Yes.

I agree, it is Madison. Only makes sense. The first comment or thereabouts threw me off.

Thanks for the correction!

Okay, Crickett... forget the Ron Paul thing. It's James Madison.

Cyberczar's picture

Still awesome

Doesn't make the painting any less cool, though.

also, fdr was a cripple.. so

also, fdr was a cripple.. so he should be in a wheelchair.

how is lincoln for the common

how is lincoln for the common man?? isnt he the one who said he would fight the civil war even if it meant not freeing a single slave...

Great painting, i want it

in my house.

Seems like Republican Propaganda to me.

Bush Jr., Reagan, Lincoln and the founders all concerned for "The Forgotten Man" but all the "modern" Democrats applauding or not even noticing him?

I think Reagan WOULD have been how he's portrayed if not for Bush Sr. and his CIA buddies putting him in his place but his presidency was NOT one that concerned itself with the common man.

Bush Jr.? Do I even need to say anything about his legacy?

Lincoln's legacy is, perhaps, THE most lied about in our history. Yes, slaves were freed but he didn't care about the "negro" ... he said he had no dog in the slavery fight and also that the black man is clearly inferior to whites. The expatriation of someone who was against the war; the arrests of NORTHERN journalists and editors that said anything bad about him; the unnecessary brutality toward southern civilians; the corruption (he was a Big Railroad lawyer put into the White House by Big Railroad and then subsidized them even more lucratively than we see these days ... they were often given miles of unsettled land on both sides of the proposed line and, even though Americans weren't allowed to homestead much of this land, the railroads sold the land [they got for free] they didn't need for their tracks and stations to settlers)? What a joke it is that he's been made into some kind of hero.

Anyway ... I agree with the portrayal of Obama, FDR, etc. and the Founders' reactions, but the rest is inaccurate, so a down votin' I will go.

Lincoln

Yep, Lincoln is not at all who he was portrayed to be. I'm sure that many American presidents weren't either. Below is a good podcast from Lew Rockwell discussing the Lincoln fallacy.

I fully agree that Obama has stepped on the constitution (illegal wars and NDAA anyone?) but so did Dubya and many other presidents before that too.

http://www.lewrockwell.com/lewrockwell-show/2008/08/07/14-li...

Absolutely

Agree completely about Jr. and "many other presidents". I'd actually go one further ... MOST other presidents.

its not propaganda, bush

is on the right side with obama and them while everyone from jfk and left were all good people. including andrew jackson which ended the first central bank this country had.

It doesn't matter ...

... where they're standing so much, it's their expressions and Bush Jr. has an expression of deep concern for the man. That's BS and therefore, propaganda.

I agree that JFK wasn't pure evil, but he's depicted as being not only unconcerned but completely unaware of the man.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to defend Jackson; I made my argument against the points I had issues with. I didn't attack Jackson or even insinuate a problem with him. I went after the hard-core points of BS in it:

1) Reagan was a man of the people.
2) Bush Jr., as president, was deeply troubled by the common man's plight.
3) The modern Democrats are depicted as either unconcerned or actually glad that Obama had finished off what remained of the Constitution.
4) Lincoln appears outraged.

All Republican BS ... sorry.

It has some good points (particularly the founders' depictions) but if we're going to bitch at the media for BS, we have to enforce upon ourselves the same level of scrutiny. I want it to have no BS, at all.

Say Obama gets rid of the Patriot Act and ONLY the Patriot Act ... is he suddenly a good president? No. I'm a Ron Paul supporter because he has taught me that it can be all or nothing ... all good, no BS ... to not settle for anything less than the whole truth.

Reagan

You know I haven't heard all that much about Reagan. We all know Republicans look up to him as an icon but Ron Paul was one of the first to support him (at least his message) and first to leave him (running for President as an independent in 1988 after being unhappy w/ Reagan's run-up in spending).

What bad points are you referring to by the way? I'd love to hear Lew Rockwell's honest take on Reagan (and all the recent presidents actually).

...

"What bad points are you referring to..."

I listed them. Unless you mean about Reagan?

Yep I was referring to Reagan

Basically I'm not fully sure what you mean when you wrote...

"I think Reagan WOULD have been how he's portrayed if not for Bush Sr. and his CIA buddies putting him in his place but his presidency was NOT one that concerned itself with the common man."

amazing

bump

Not sure if I agree with that painting

Yes, Obama is reprehensible, but if I was the painter, I would've changed a lot of who's standing where. Still, very well done, and I do agree with other standings.

Question About Ron Paul Painting

...why does the lil bush look almost concerned and appears to be seeing the forgotten man. I'd think he'd have a different finger pointing. Anyone have an explanation because I love this....except for bush.
