You guys heard of...
..formaldehyde and formic acid? Further breakdown of aspartame results in these. I'll take a teaspoon of natural sugar for my coffee, please.
Sugar: The Bitter Truth
Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin.

***this is a very interesting talk!
You have no need to worry
You have no need to worry about this, the powerful sugar lobby will make sure they are as free as possible.
I used to drink a flavored water a few years back. Then something changed with it, turns out they started putting aspartame in it for who knows what reason. It didnt have sugar in it before then and wasnt meant to be a sweet drink to begin with. Needless to the say, the sweetner screwed up the taste and I stopped drinking it.
only if
we no longer live in a free country. I think the the real dangers are; GMO's, High Frutose Corn Syrup, Aspartame, the FDA, Big Pharma, etc. But I own a health food store, so what the heck do I know.
High Fructose corn syrup is
High Fructose corn syrup is not real food...it's a chemical composition...now..should it have been approved by the FDA as safe for consuption??? hell no..it's a poison...see why the FDA should be gotten rid of ??
"and the truth shall make you free"

Alright, so with no FDA, what
Alright, so with no FDA, what would have happened?
It would still be sold...people would still be eating it.
Plenty of people want to eat and do stuff that is terrible for them that the FDA bans. The ban alone changes no behaviour!
Additionally, the FDA does not exist to regulate what YOU consider "healthy" or proper. When it comes to food, they are there to prevent things that are TOXIC. Things that cause serious health problems. Like, for example, drugs that can kill you, pesticides that can sterilize you, food that has gone bad; etc.
They want absolute proof, and moreover, they tend to go for things that have an immediate, short-term effect. It is harder to prove damage in longer-term effects.
