Wow. Understanding the Ron Paul Phenomenon - Best article I've ever read from FOX
Submitted by RoadtoSurfdom on Sat, 02/04/2012 - 01:40Ron Paul is a phenomenon many establishment politicians cannot understand. But as a leading Libertarian-conservative media personality, as well as the 2008 Libertarian Vice Presidential nominee, I completely understand this phenomenon, and I hope to solve the mystery here today at FoxNews.com.
Mitt Romney won Florida by a landslide (as I publicly predicted). On Saturday Romney will also win my home state of Nevada by a landslide. But as usual, Ron Paul will have the most enthusiastic, passionate and energetic supporters in Nevada – as he does in every state.
After years of being the lone Libertarian voice in Congress, and often being the lone vote on issues, Congressman Paul is today a folk hero. After 25 long years of fighting for Libertarian and fiscally conservative values, this little old Texas baby doctor has become an “overnight success.”

Because I Love Ron Paul
I didn't read the article. I just read a number of the reply comments made so far. I just want to say...
I look at Ron Paul and I know I love him with all my heart, soul... and mind as well.
I look at the other candidates, and... well, I know who I'm voting for come hell or high water, the one I love!

The Root of all evil is to serve money.
And right up until the last paragraph I though perhaps Mr. Root wasn't pandering more than the norm. Sure he's a libertarian, but I'm also sure people post at DP who say they support Ron Paul but then I read their posts on "other" topics that expose their agendas.
So you'd like us, the people who are
Libertarians, and more importantly followers of the constitutional rule of law and freedoms to just roll over and support " Wilbert " ? Wilbert, who is a carbon copy of whom he's trying to replace ?
Mr Root, it would take much more that pleasant platitudes and enticing words to get me ( and I suspect many here ) to even consider for more that a micro-second voting for Wilbert " Mitt" Ronmey. In Fact Mr. Root, only GOD himself telling me directly to vote for Wilbert ( not likely to happen ) would get me too! And Gingrich or Santorum have the exact same chances.
Why, Mr. Root shame on you for even wondering the WHY if it, or trying to manipulate us.
Mr. Root if your truly a libertarian then I'm a astronaught.

That is Wayne Allen Root... Who manipulated the last LP caucus to cause Barr to get nominated...
He is trying to get attention, nothing else... He is no friend. But a positive article is a positive article, so it is what it is.

Yes, this was a decent
Yes, this was a decent article, but the author's self-congratulatory insight misses the reality target by a long shot. He suggests Romney name Ron Paul chairman of the Fed. This simply underscores his naivete. It suggests to me he truly does not understand what the Fed is or what it does. It suggests he has no clue how the system works. Presidents don't "select" the chairman. They are handed resumes of acceptable candidates from whom to pick. These candidates will take their marching orders from the Fed, and have the best interests of the Fed at heart, not the people's government. The only thing the Fed is obligated to the government for is to provide unlimited fiat money to the government's unscrupulous politicians and policies. Ron Paul chairman of the Fed? Such an appointment would destroy the cloak the Fed enjoys. It would expose what the Fed is and what it does, etc., which would likely shock every single American if brought to the light of day, including Ron Paul himself. Ron Paul as chairman of the Fed would threaten the banking cartel itself.
Appointing Ron Paul as chairman of the Fed would be like appointing Elliot Ness to head Al Capone's bootlegging network.
I generally liked it but I
I generally liked it but I don't like the fact that they called him a libertarian about 100 times. It highlights the fact that he's, in the words of many republicans, "an imposter... a libertarian running on the republican ticket" which is an accusation I've heard more than once.
Ron Paul
gives the word libertarian a good name. It is no different than neo-conservative which is certainly not neo- and nothing like conservative. All these labels miss the point that Ron Paul Republicanism dates back to the Republican Party of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. They were both disciples of John Locke who was a libertarian so the original Republican Party was libertarian.
Their opponents were the Federalists who were like Alexander Hamilton disciples of Thomas Hobbes. They are the spiritual forefathers of the modern Democratic/Republican Party via the Whigs/Lincoln Republicans/Progressives on the one hand and the Wilsonian Democrats on the other.
This has always been the struggle in the American political sphere as it has been everywhere else. As Dr. Paul says the ideas of freedom have been around for a very long time but it was only in the 18th. century that they were given an opportunity to flourish in the American Republic. From the beginning the forces of reaction set in and eventually the Liberty ideals were lost in the advance of socialism during the late 19th. century.
These socialist ideas were embedded in the new Republican Party and later in the Democratic Party under Woodrow Wilson. They were exploited by the financiers who infiltrated American society and took control of the mechanisms of government through their control of the monetary and banking system in the Federal Reserve. The rest as we say is history.
The Federal Reserve system has now run its course and the socialist philosophy has proved to be unworkable in the long term as it engenders a level of dependency on the State that destroys the individual self-reliance and family support networks that are necessary for the continuance of a free society. We are now in transition to the next stage which is either the collapse of the world system into a highly structured aristocracy-slave State or an advance into the promise of the doctrines of Liberty - libertarianism.
The only ones who fear Liberty are those who profit from the present structure. We should wear the name of Liberty with confidence since no other philosophy can better serve the aims and needs of humanity.
"But the one who peers into the perfect law of liberty and fixes his attention there, and does not become a forgetful listener but one who lives it out – he will be blessed in what he does." (James 1:25)

If all Dr. Paul could do, as president, is to remove taxes on real money and to allow a competing currency - it would be a tremendous achievement. If not president (God forbid), with our help, he could still push for that legislation! That would change the world! My point is, Dr. Paul will be with us and fighting for us for many years to come. I believe he will win ... and I believe he has already won - because he woke us up.

My previous post
... about the Fed chairman is not to mean I believe Dr. Paul will not be our nominee and eventual president. But if he isn’t, maybe a scenario or outcome would be a promise from the nominee to publicly support “Competing Currency”. Not a quid pro quo here … but Dr. Paul would have an unbelievable opportunity to start and to become the CEO of a free market gold/silver backed “Liberty Currency”. Ron Paul supporters would immediately buy into it. States would come along; and because of Dr. Paul’s friendly non-interventionist positions for oil rich countries - they too would buy in. He would have no problems getting investors. I hope Dr. Paul is not looking at what he would do if not elected; non the less, he will always have a great influence. Maybe all he does is go on a lecture circuit … and have fun and get paid for it.

Several good points,
Several good points, BUT................
I'm tired of "supportive" articles and interviews with the premise that he can't win. If Romney's a shoo-in anyway, they should urge everyone to vote Ron Paul so he'll have more influence on Romney. Instead they give the impression that Ron Paul's a great phenomenon, but don't bother to vote for him because he can't win.
Fed Chairman
I believe the Fed chairman, by current law, is selected from the board of governors of the federal reserve (all nominated by the president and approved by the senate). They serve a 14 year term … not sure if any terms are up? Paul would first need to be appointed to the board (and approved) … then nominated and approved by the senate again as the chairman. I also believe naming a treasury secretary, VP or any other cabinet post (prior to getting the republican nomination) is illegal according to election laws. Naming a chairman or cabinet post prior to becoming president would be positive and negative. In Dr. Paul's case as a presidential candidate; currently the MSM has only Dr. Paul to vet … naming a VP,chairman or cabinet post would open up vetting to others that may not have the impeccable background and character as Dr. Paul ... the MSM can’t really find anything on Paul - so they would go after others.

wow, wow, wow
For FOXNEWS this is indeed the best article they've ever published about Paul. Will we see a slight change in their tone in the coming weeks? Am I being too optimistic? If so, how do you explain this opinion piece?
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom — go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, an
Pretty easy to explain. Wayne
Pretty easy to explain. Wayne Allyn Root contributes regularly to Fox, and he was the 2008 LP VP candidate. Fox isn't just going to reject his article. Not everything over there is as sinister as it's made out to be. They're not going to give Root a primetime show or anything though.
Washington, DC NW
It says Romney in a landslide.
Fox doesn't care if Ron Paul is considered wise. But they don't want any momentum gathering that he might win in any particular state.
Very good, overall
Very complimentary of the Good Doctor. Unusual for Fox. At leasy he seems to be actively trying to understand "why Ron Paul?" He even admitted that we're going off the deep end, and Ron Paul had not only been right in the past, but that he's actually smart enough to save this country. I have to laugh at the idea of Ron Paul being offered the Federal Reserve Chairman position. The Fed hates him so much, and he'd put a stop to their work so immediately.
Thanks for sharing.

the last few paragraphs were complete crap
Ron Paul's supporters will NEVER support Mitt Romney. A token position in the White House doesn't cut it. Ron Paul's movement isn't just about monetary issues. Plus, they could just circumvent whatever power he had anyway.
The article was good up until
The article was good up until the last paragraph or so. Then, the author ruined it with the new media meme. The 'make nice with the supporters and they can be co-opted'. No we can't.
I think I've posted under 3 articles today telling the writers that the meme needs to stop. We support only Ron Paul.

Terrific article with one
Terrific article with one exception. The writer knows nothing about how deep the rabbit hole goes. He TRULY thinks old Mitt will offer Ron Bernanke's job. He does see nothing of who is really ruling and who Mitt is working for. He thinks it is the American People. Sad.
OR
He does know and wants to keep everyone in the dark so he can profit from the system.
