When I first read Kevins comment which was a response to a thread topic I was impressed. Impressed by Kevins way with words, his ability to clearly communicate, and most impressed by the entire scope if his story in context with the thread he was responding too!
As I was once a Democrat ( get the rope pa ! ) in how I voted could relate with the progression, and response to vitriol by others during my "learning" curve about liberty, and what America really was supposed to be.
I think the idea of a super PAC is ok, but truly I feel the face to face of like demographics in age group, and in like ideology is a MUST. Why, because TV or the Internet is not nearly as incisive and connective on a personal level as a face to face that's why.
Additionally, a superPAC infomercial using several " life stories" like Kevins would be lenghty, and peoples attention spans directly correlate to how long their bottoms can sit still.
Then there is the nagging little fact that we don't have that luxury of time since we are even now in the phase of the primary season that accelerates quickly, super Tuesday and beyond move along at a very quick clip relatively speaking.
So how can stories like Kevins help us, what dose Kevin teach us about approaching others where he "was"? Thankfully Kevin was very clear upon what worked and what did not work, specifically " how he was spoken too, treated by others." We should take that lesson to heart each and every time we speak to anyone about Ron Paul, after all when we do so are we not Ron's ambassadors?
Just remember not every call will be a convert, not every happenstance exchange a miracle of constitutional rebirth. What each and every day does bring us however is the unique and precious opportunity to plant a seed of hope that can grow to a tree of liberty.
The other piece of sound wisdom I can offer is become a rhinoceros as in thick skinned. Don't take it personally when others attack you or call you vitriolic names, rather take the opportunity of their expectation of a like response to turn the conversation to more constructive conversation. Actually it's quite easy to do. Something to the effect of: " thank you, but really I'd like to fully understand why you feel as strongly as you do about _______________? " I can't tell you the number of times I've used this tactic on the Huffington or Blaze websites in response to brutal, caustic, nasty personal adhominym attacks by others, and it WORKS ! I don't always get to see if I've convinced someone, but I do get a suprised response because I refused to h8 back which gives me the opportunity to do what I wanted, to discuss the issue fairly. That and it's " NOT ABOUT ME ", it's about liberty, freedom and the pursuit of happiness and who do you know who doesn't at their heart desire that?
* gmason08 once again my friend you have given me pause to think, thank you for that gift.
** Kevin, thank you for reteaching me that vital lesson in your sharing of your story it so clearly illustrated, do unto others..........
