An app to bring out the votes and R3volutionize "ground game"
Submitted by HowAbout on Mon, 02/06/2012 - 02:12Isn't there a tool out there that would let supporters join together with layers of local accountability and support? This way teams of 3-4 supporters could make sure one another shows up to vote and caucus, then they can report their own votes and overall totals upward to the campaign.
I would look at groundcrew.us, but it appears inactive.
Anybody out there an app developer?
If we know the caucus and polling sites in advance, you'd just need supporters to sign up then they could automatically be teamed up for practice caucuses based on their local site, they could be put in teams of 2, 3, or 4 and be responsible for making sure their entire team votes, and finally they could check in at the location and confirm they vote.
User levels
Admin -
This level is for app management.
Organizer -
Sets up polling site locations, sets up team sizes, and creates events.
Supporter -
Automatically divided into small teams. Able to message eachother and mark a teammate as inactive to potentially remove them from the team (if teammates also mark) or transfer themselves to a random team.
Example -
Teams automatically have the first activity of correctly identifying their polling location and planning transportation on vote/caucus day. The team must complete this activity in order to officially name their team and get on the list for their county.
Once this is complete they earn the ability to contact their organizer for the next activity. As they complete activities they earn more features like the ability to communicate with other teams. The final level of team evolution is breaking up into organizer level users, each having new teams beneath them.
How about some activity ideas that an organizer shoud add to the game? If you were an organizer level user what would you add for your local teams? Your job would be to get them active and teach them the local process so they could all become organizers too and to make damn sure everyone you influence shows up at the local site.
One idea- post your money bomb contribution on DailyPaul.com on the day of the next moneybomb.

Coalesce all efforts
Dear HowAbout,
It would be great to have one platform and I hope people check out Ron Paul Country. I was a little disappointed in Campaign for Liberty on some levels too, and hope one effort can unite us to fight - we need a single source for all RP supporters to continue after RP's win to elect City, State and Federal candidates that will pursue liberty and the constitution. I am open to any suggestions.
Ron Paul Country has an
Ron Paul Country has an awesome site that you can see other local RP supporters in your area and there is Campaign for Liberty.
I signed up and was excited
I signed up and was excited about Campaign for Liberty years ago, but the excitement was short lived for me at least. I don't think it's the same to be able to contact people and to be playing a "game" together as a small team that requires activity.
I thought it had a lot of potential
I wonder if Ron Paul Country could add precincts where we could download the election results since they already have a map. This could be a great tool for all areas to elect city, State and federal candidates that think like RP and keep the movement going. Maybe Campaign for Liberty could endorse or merge - Just need everyone to sign up?
I'd be all for that. Open to
I'd be all for that. Open to connect with all efforts and I totally agree that this could be useful in the future as well.
This is seriously too late in the game.
Great idea. But you're a little too late.
I don't know. With enough
I don't know. With enough help it could be done very quickly.

YES! Can you build this?
YES! Can you build this? One freelancer said they'd use drupal and connect mobile apps with that and they bid 2k to start.
I would need to look into all
I would need to look into all the resources needed to get it up and running and decide whether I have the time to design such a full fledged app (being a full time student with 3 jobs). But, I am definitely willing to start researching how to get something like this going quick enough to help the campaign. Not sure I would feel comfortable asking for much money if any because this is for a greater cause.
I recommend starting a chip-in...
If folks want to throw a few bucks toward the effort let them. I think you will be surprised at the response. It doesn't many folks to make a difference.

For sure. i'm thinking we need to hammer out the specs a bit more, maybe create a mockup, but will definitely look at creating a chipin.
That would be awesome. We'll
That would be awesome. We'll just take it a baby step at a time.
What would be the first step from this point to a completed functioning app?

You treat me, an ally, with that attitude because you don't want to copy and paste? Man, you've got a serious counterproductive streak. You should try and work on that.
Don't whine and stop being lazy.
I have one? You can't take it upon yourself to type in a link. Try some independence. Sheesh.

I already looked and didn't see any refernce to what you described as I told you 5 posts up. Not gonna waste my time searching for something you say is there but won't link to.
They are dealing with counting the vote.. I said that already.
There's a story about it on the main page so I doubt you've looked and I could care less if you do. Plenty of good supporters that will. Those that need to be dragged along or coddled are flaky anyway.

This isn't about that. I
This isn't about that. I thought you meant they were creating an app like this thread is about. As I said before, real time vote verification is just a bonus. This is about using a gamified app to educate, activate, and team up supporters who might not otherwise show up to vote or caucus.
I read your post.. you mentioned vote counting as part of the
app.. I simply commented on RevPac taking care of that.. I didn't state though that I'd rather have them do it but it's true.
I trust those people.. anything to do with vote counting should be left up people on the ground.. Other than that, I think your app is a feel good/easy way out type of thinking.
Although you'd probably get some users because of the novelty, it'll be discarded for more traditional methods of contact.
I also think they already have available social networking apps that would do some of what you talk about, the primary concerning things anyway.
