An Absence of Success: Army Colonel Calls Out US Leaders Waging a War Of Incompetence

February 6th, 2012

Armed Forces Journal
By LT. COL. DANIEL L. DAVIS

I spent last year in Afghanistan, visiting and talking with U.S. troops and their Afghan partners. My duties with the Army’s Rapid Equipping Force took me into every significant area where our soldiers engage the enemy. Over the course of 12 months, I covered more than 9,000 miles and talked, traveled and patrolled with troops in Kandahar, Kunar, Ghazni, Khost, Paktika, Kunduz, Balkh, Nangarhar and other provinces.

What I saw bore no resemblance to rosy official statements by U.S. military leaders about conditions on the ground.

Entering this deployment, I was sincerely hoping to learn that the claims were true: that conditions in Afghanistan were improving, that the local government and military were progressing toward self-sufficiency. I did not need to witness dramatic improvements to be reassured, but merely hoped to see evidence of positive trends, to see companies or battalions produce even minimal but sustainable progress.

Instead, I witnessed the absence of success on virtually every level.

I'm bringing copies of this article to the

Ron Paul Info Table at our local community college tomorrow.

We'll also give out infos on "Ron Paul is the Choice of the Troops" march and "Civil Liberties College Tour", besides handing out TONS of slim jims and SuperBrochures.

a couple of graphics you should use at your table

At http://ronpaulronpaul.com/ they have this on display:

And then there's this:

Print those out and let people's own eyes do the persuading.

The question you can then ask is:

Is this really a good time to start another war, against a country almost 3 times the size of Iraq, which has the backing of Russia and China?

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.

It would be nice

It would be nice if they were told that the Taliban and the Afghan people had nothing to do with 911. That they have no justification for occupying that country or trying to help Afghans kill Talibans... That they are simply there to secure booty. Then they would understand why Afghans are not risking life and limb to kill Talibans. And then they would return home and defend their country from the real enemy… the enemy within.

.

This is what the current leadership

defends in both parties. They've got nothing. They stand for policy that is utter failure, across the board, domestic and foreign. They're in lala land.
