Time to face the facts. What the GOP fears most is what America needs most.
Neither Santorum nor Gingrich can win the nomination for one simple reason. Neither of them can collect enough delegates to win.
Neither man can be the nominee because neither one was able to get on enough states' ballots to make a difference. (564 delegates that Newt can't win, and over 700 delegates Santorum can't win ).
The media and the GOP are praying to God that the American people continue to remain ignorant of this fact for as long as possible while they try to come up with a strategy that will bury Ron Paul before Romney is forced to face him on stage alone and the commentators are no longer able to marginalize Paul by giving all the questions to everyone but him.
Ron Paul and Mitt Romney are the only two candidates that made it on the ballot in every state. Romney will not beat Obama, he's too similar except he will raise taxes on anyone making 40k a year or less in favor of giving himself lower taxes. Independents are going to run to Obama if Romney is the alternative.
It is a two man race between Ron Paul and Romney for the nomination.
It is also a two man race between Ron Paul and Obama for the White House.
It's time Conservatives and people with any functioning brain cells in their heads started backing the only real candidate that will beat Obama and save America. And whether you like it or not, that candidate is Ron Paul.
The facts can't be twisted to point in any other direction. The delegates decide who gets the nomination and you can't get delegates if you aren't on the ballots. It doesn't matter how much money gets pumped into your campaign by special interest groups. The facts are the facts.
IMPORTANT FACTS:
Fact : Gingrich and Santorum cannot win the nomination no matter how much they get in " popular " votes.
Fact : Ron Paul will decimate Obama on his Foreign Policy stance alone. Add in his economic and defense policies (Policies that Obama ran on in 2008 and abandoned once he got in the White House so no one would be stupid enough to believe he's going to follow them in his second term) and you have an un-beatable candidate in the general election who the bulk of the American people will vote for when they finally get a chance to see the man unfiltered and unbiased by the media.
America is broke and the average American is tired of hearing about another war on the horizon and seeing more dead soldiers coming home in coffins for no reason...all the while the freedoms they are dying to " protect " are being stripped away from us by our own government...one by one.
Obama has ‘0’ chance of beating Paul and Washington knows it. The GOP knows it. The corporations that own Washington know it too so they instruct the media outlets they own to hide it from you.
But now you know. Gingrich and Santorum are mathematically incapable of winning the Nomination and Romney can't beat Obama in the general election.
Ron Paul is the only choice we have. It's just nice that, for once, he's the RIGHT choice and not just the " lesser of two evils ".

That chart from the NYTimes is wrong. It's an oversimplification and completely different to what CNN have been saying.
It would be good to get an actual, impartial breakdown of all this so we can see for ourselves. I could do this myself of course, but I figure Doug Wead probably knows something I don't and I'm hoping someone on here knows it too ...

While I heard Doug say this and would love for this to be true, so far there has been no evidence to support it.
Newt missed VA (49 delegates)
Santorm missed VA and IN (95 Delegates)
So far...
Perhaps they will miss more but at this point its not true that they or anyone else is mathematically out of it.

clearly the GOP and K street and Wall street all have MUCH to lose with DP in the white house, so what's to stop the elites from bringing in Jeb Bush or another puppet at the last minute as an alternative? That's the scenario that scares me.

I've been telling this to as many people I can for a while now.
It has always been Mitt VS Ron. First by admission of the GOP Chairwoman and now because it has become a mathematical impossibility as far as delegate count.
Ron has got the financial backing, a better staff this go around and he's got the ground game. Plus he's got us. Nobody else has the passion and commitment.
The campaign has got a strategy in place for the long haul because it IS a marathon and NOT a sprint.
As Ron says "We're just getting started."

If Santy/Grinch can't "win", then why is the GOP allowing them
to continue campaigning, because you KNOW they are, as they would simply put pressure on them to drop out of the race.

By numbers, Gingrich cannot win and Santorum cannot win. But they are getting delegates and can have all the arm-twisting strength WE want to have at a brokered convention.
Some clarification on forward strategy would be helpful.

No one may get a majority...but at the same time they may all have enough delegates to go to Tampa to tip the scale. That depends on how long they all stay in the race. Right now it sounds like everyone is staying in for the long haul.
I can see it playing out this way. Let's say we go to Tampa and Romney has the most delegates, but not a majority. Maybe we are 2nd or 3rd . Yet, Newt and Santorum may have a decent amount of delegates as well (few hundred?). So, Newt and Santorum say screw it, we can't win let's support Romney ( in exchange for a cabinet position of course). And so all of their delegates go to Romney. You now have the nominee.
The only way to block that is to simply have more delegates going into Tampa or a large enough portion to where even if Newt and Santorum release their delegates to Romney, he still won't have a majority.

How to score that magic number? Good ol boys in the state GOP are doing a pretty effective job getting in the way; and now people are having doubts about Maine as Saturday approaches. I hope Dr. Paul or his best surrogates can get there to fortify their people, or Priebus will tighten the screws on State Central and force an outcome we won't like.
There may be big events on the horizon: Eurozone chain reactions, middle eastern wars, $10 gas, bank holidays and bailouts. Summer of 68 style riots and crackdowns.
Any of these eventualities can totally change the political landscape. An elderly hippie from OWS the other night reminded us how Johnson was basically forced from office in the summer of 68, just before the elections.
Could such a thing happen in this day? Time will tell. And I'm feeling a bit fatalistic lately.

integrity in his baby finger than the other 3 empty suits have in the whole body. I would be so ashamed of myself if I voted for anyone else. I would rather go down in flames with Paul than to glory with any other candidate, because the glory would just be a mirage. Look what we got with Obama, absolutely no integrity.

I remember 2008. Not only did the delegates not vote for Ron Paul, they did an "in your face" in rejecting him. It was very sad. I hate to say it but I'm kind of hoping for the economic crisis to go ahead and start proving that it's stronger than the Federal Reserve's manipulation. If the people start feeling the pain now (which is coming anyway), they might have a better understanding of what Dr. Paul is saying. Only then people might start looking for more answers as to what is going on and how to fix it. International investor, Jim Rogers, is saying the Fed will print massive amounts of money at least until the election is over in order to hide how bad it is. But how much can they really hide if the prices are going sky high? I say LET THE PAIN COME!

It is about DELEGATES, not the ones the MSM like to post the NATIONAL delegate the each candidate gets after election night (not to mention each network has different total for each candidate) The hidden fact is ones that become county delegates, then state delegates that elects to the National Conventions. If candidates has more delegate on the local level the greater the chances are to get the votes in the national. Gee folks how many time this has to be explain.
