UPDATE Politico: Santorum Crying Rejected By Indiana; Marion County/CD7 Deems Signatures Invalid For A Second Time, Issue Closed

Cindy Mowery, the Republican board member in Marion County's voter registration department, confirmed that Santorum's campaign dropped off additional signatures and said the Board of Elections is reviewing them. In the meantime, Mowery said, the county stands by its original decision and doesn't think the new signatures will change that decision.

"We don’t believe that they’re valid but we’ll take a second look," she said.

Failing to qualify for the Indiana ballot was a big slip-up for Santorum, who has often touted his ability to win in working-class and blue-state America and named Indiana as a key swing state he could carry against President Barack Obama.

UPDATE: Mowery told the Associated Press this evening that the signatures were deemed invalid, and that Santorum will still not appear on the state's ballot.

I think this only applies to

I think this only applies to many counties within the state, but not the entire state itself. Also, they allow write-ins. It's good news though.

Marion County is the only county in CD7.

Other counties are more rural and are just part of larger congressional districts so multiple election offices have to validate for the other 8 of 9 CDs in Indiana.

Every CD must have 500 signatures or you can NOT be on the statewide ballot for Prez.

Right on. Nice to know. Thank

Right on. Nice to know. Thank you sir.

Missouri GOP fixed that problem

Gingrich didn't have enough votes to be put on ballot so Primary votes didn't count last night because Missouri is now having a caucus in which Gingrich can get delegates because he can be put on the ballot in the caucus and the Missouri tax payers lost millions of wasted dollars.

Makes me proud to be a Hoosier

And for those saying this will be overturned, don't bet on it!

We had a major issue last election where many of Obama's signatures turned out to be dups or forged and he shouldn't have been on the primary ballot in 08. It could have changed the whole election.

One state senator (a Santorum supporter i assume) already tried to pass a new law saying if the candidates pay $10K they don't have to get the signatures but he had to withdraw it from consideration after he was labeled as a cheater and bombarded with emails and facebook postings calling him out as a sell out and screaming our elections are not for sale.

And we are a big time GOP state, we have majorities in all 3 branches so they could have passed it if they really wanted but the people rose up on this one.

Santorum's out in Indiana!

Get him a TISSUE!!!

The deliberate Marxist tanking of this economy through political cronyism and moral compromise, in pursuit of the love of money carrot-and-stick approach(Federal Reserve bubble)cost me and my family a successful budding career that I loved! Ron Paul 2012

They'll have this fixed in no time.

I'm starting to see the picture now. It's the GOP's party, and they can change any rule, anytime. They can report the vote tally results anyway they deem "best" for the party. It's like the song, "It's my party, I'll cry if I want to". It's not an election governed by FEC rules. I don't even think you can legally challange what the "party" does. The only thing Ron Paul can do is document questionable actions and put them together in a useful campaign tool to expose the hypocracy of the GOP party leaders. But, this card would have to be played before too much longer, and they have him buried. To those that do not want to consider a 3rd party run, I'd say, be prepared to go down with the ship.

Santorum does not really have support

All this says is Santorum does not have enough support but he will keep beating Paul because the Paul supporters will not show up to vote. I am angry about last night. Paul should have won Minnesota.

Doesn't have support?

Who are these people that show up and vote for him? We've got to face reality. The large crowds showing up for Ron's rallys is not the same as mass of people sitting on their couches being led by the media. Somehow, the campaign has to start hitting the "average Joe".

alan laney

I meant comparatively.

If he cannot get enough signatures to get on the ballot means there are less enthusiastic supporters than Paul. Only if Pauls supporters show up to vote then Santorum cannot beat Paul. Most Santorum supporters are old people who think America is losing "values" and Santorum somehow represents them.

Trumpet this Santorum disaster FAR & WIDE, including Arizona

and the other next-in-line primary states (remind everyone that voting for Rick's a waste and that his victories today in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado are utterly futile!

Also tell everyone that Rick's real plan is to set himself up as a prominent candidate in the elections over 4 years (if BO is reelected).

Awesome

So if the state party manages to mysteriously direct my vote elsewhere, at least it won't go to little Ricky.

Blessed are the peacemakers, but elected are the war hawks.

Good

We wouldn't want him to get a big head after tonight, after all ;-)

GOOD!

And one more word: GOOD!
