How do I become a delegate?
Submitted by Neverquit on Wed, 02/08/2012 - 12:29Becoming a delegate is easy, all you need to do is register with your local party to become a delegate in your area.
Once you are a delegate in your local party you will then be voted on to become a state or even national delegate for your party.
Contact your local chair of your party and tell them you wish to become a delegate.
# 1 : You must be a registered republican in most states. To become a delegate you must contact your local chairman or officer(s) of the party and ask for the form to register to become a delegate. Make a copy of your signed application for your own records.
# 2 : The rules to become a delegate vary from district and county, you must obtain your bylaws to see what your area requires you to become a delegate.

I think this might be a little confusing since bylaws are different for each state. The most important thing besides registering as a republican is going to the caucus and volunteering to be a delegate. This action solidifies you as a delegate if you win the vote. You may be able to request to be a delegate via the original poster's process. This however might not automatically award you with full delegate voting rights at the conventions unless there are unfilled delegate spots or alt delegate spots.
If anyone didn't become a delegate at the caucus it would be nice to have them to try the original poster's process and update us on progress.
