I honestly don't know who the "overnight surge candidate" will be next week. I have a pretty good idea who it won't be.
If---heaven forbid--Rick Santorum is the nominee, how many of us plan to continue this quest to "take over the Republican Party from within?" Versus how many might want to bolt the party?
I ask this politely--I'm curious how fellow PaulBots would vote. What say you?

You're neglecting the third, most important option. Continue to take the party over from within, while at the same time supporting Paul and other liberty-minded candidates wherever they go. There's no reason we can't do both. Becoming part of the party doesn't mean we have to vote for frothy if he's the nominee, but it DOES mean that we have a better chance of getting constitutional conservatives on the ballot across the country, in local, state, and national races.
I've been a Republican all my life, and I will continue to be as long as there are voices within the party shouting for liberty - and don't be fooled by the power elite, there are many just like us in the GOP. But, that doesn't mean I vote straight party ticket. I vote for the best candidates, every time, regardless of party. And if there's someone outside the party who's a better candidate, I'll throw all my weight behind them. But the long-term goal mustn't be neglected - win back our party from the Neo-cons who stole it from us!

Regardless of the outcome of the 2012 election, I am going to be active in supporting a 3rd party. RP would be the first to tell you that we need to break the back of this duopoly whose had it's elbow on the pulse of America for way too long. If he runs for a 2nd term in 2016- yeh - ill hop the fence and support that run too. If hell freezes over and they embrace RP and the GOP starts showing a direction of profound change, the polar opposite of what theyre doing now- then Ill support both. The two-party bottleneck needs to stop yesterday no matter how much they change.

In all seriousness though, I will not leave the country, but I certainly will not vote for Santorum. I will write Dr. Paul in if need be. And if/when SHTF, I want to stay behind and help those who may need it. As much as I'd like to leave, I wouldn't feel right in doing so.
