A Glimmer of Hope in MO

Yesterday I sat 13 hours in front of my small town precinct polling station in Missouri in cold (35 degree), drizzly, blustery weather. I was there with a large banner, multiple signs, bumpers stickers, and brochures making a Ron Paul presence...there was not one Romney, Santorum or Gingrich sign even left for the day. In that time, of the 256 people who showed up to vote for both the Democrat and Republican primaries (a record low for our town of 4,400 registered voters), only 30 votes were cast for Ron Paul...30 confident-in-what-they-believed, smiling voters!

(Other totals: Santorum: 115 (how did that happen?!), Romney: 60 and Obama: 36 with other minor/dropped-out candidates and uncommitteds making up the difference.) It was a very tough day to stand out at the polling station given the weather and low turnout.

Of all those who showed up to vote, the person that most impressed me was "Jason." He was like a breath of fresh air! Most of those who voted regardless of candidate were well over 50... Jason had just turned 18 and was still in high school.

I greeted him not knowing he supported Ron Paul. "Do you want to join The Revolution?" I asked as he approached. "Did you see my car?" he replied with a grin. It was sporting a Ron Paul bumper sticker. :) Jason didn't come with his folks...he was excited about casting his vote for Ron Paul and had made the effort on his own after school got out. He went into the polling station and voted and came back out smiling...he had cast his first election vote. :)

Jason cast his first vote for Ron Paul!...I still remember just turning 18 like Jason and casting my first vote for Ronald Reagan.:) We chatted for a few minutes before he left. I asked Jason if he would like any literature, bumper stickers or yard signs (some of which he already had)..he declined those but asked if I had a Ron Paul button. I didn't have one with me, but I told him I had a red one at home and I would get it to him. As he left, I asked if he would consider being a delegate at the county caucuses in MO on March 17th...he said he would think about it...I plan to follow up with him and encourage him to become a delegate at 18! He was so enthusiastic! I am 50 and hardened by reality, I really needed his youthful optimism at 2:30 after standing in the cold for 8 1/2 hours. He reminded me there are others coming up who will carry the torch of Freedom.

I am going to drop the red button by his HS today with a very special note of thanks. We are winning small battles! Influencing one mind at a time for freedom...it is a bonus when one so young has been influenced to work the rest of his life for the cause of Freedom.

I must confess, I was discouraged after the MO primary yesterday, but Jason's youthful optimisn reminds me that we cannot quit even when we do not appear to win...the prize is too great...the prize is Freedom!

I picked up an 18 year old today and made them a delegate.

18 year olds today are a lot smarter than I was.

The 6am to 10am shift at my

The 6am to 10am shift at my first location was cold too. The midday was ok, but the sleet around 5 pm really made it tough to write down all of the supporters because my papers were getting wet. Our county had a successful outreach program. Just remember that the 30 people you found in your county are going to come in very handy on St. Patties day.

See you at state.

I went to the Court house

They told me that I could only vote in my own precinct, which made me mad because i live two counties away from where i go to college. I told myself that Mar 17 is where its at. If i registered to vote in 08 im good right--besides the fact i went with Obama in the general. I didnt like Palin then.

I live in Warrensburg if anyone wants to hold a ron paul rally before the 17th. I trust all Ron Paul supporters with knowing my location over the internet. Were just more civilized people, not to sound pretentious.

Yes, but it meant something to him...He obviously loves freedom

If all of had his attitude, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Hopefully Jason realizes

the votes cast at the Feb 7th election are meaningless. And that only the votes cast at the March 17th caucus will count towards the nomination process.

HE REALIZES ! more than you know. just...just enjoy the moment why don't you? No offense meant.

Voted in rural MO yesterday

and then went to the Lake Area Ron Paul Meetup Group meeting to begin educating supporters on how to become a Ron Paul delegate. The MOGOP is going to make it as difficult as possible for ordinary citizens to participate because it makes it so much easier for them to maintain control. We can only work hard and do our best to get as many delegates for Ron Paul as we can.

Surely, they won't continue to support

people who are/WERE no longer a CANDIDATE. What was that? That they were even still on the ballot? And did these folks not KNOW they were no longer viable? (Well...answered my own question: they were on the BALLOT!)

Jasons will do that for ya! Go Argoooooos.

Thanx,

Jason

You can't get clean in a dirty bathtub.

Glad You Met Jason

When I first became Paul-aware right after the last election cycle (all too late!) I said to my colleague who had supported Ron Paul that even if he never gets to be president that I hope that his message carries on through those that he may have influenced along the way. I also hoped that there was a younger politician that could carry the torch if we didn't make it in 2012 (didn't even know about Rand at the time or Gary Johnson---I understand they aren't exactly the same as Ron, but a step in the right direction.)

Sounds like Jason is ready to step up; I hope the process and/or the system doesn't jade him too quickly.

Thanks for braving the elements on behalf of the doc.

I am in rural MO too....

...you can't forget that it isn't TV that changes the rural mindset..(i don't even have one).. and it isn't the cows either. It is changed at the only place they gather. Church.

Santorum is proof. Seven religions call MO home to their corporate headquarters and Santorum got to the corporate headquarters to sell moral leadership.

A people become like their leader... it is a biblical principle. Worldly logic isn't used to battle the minds of the neo-pharasitic orders, biblical principle is. And you better be subtle and quote often.

Ron Paul has the principles and proof of biblical principle leadership.

Santorum is a Titus train wreck.

Unfortunately it is going to take the campaign to plead that case to the leadership to be sure they know.

(ps: he still has time. We don't caucus for a month and all these people can change their mind!!!!)

I just don't get it, either!

I spent hours making phone calls in my county, went to people's homes & gave them super brochures, handed the things out at the two main post offices, my husband canvassed the main street in our town twice, spending lots of time in the bars & shops talking to people. We had very good RP feedback from all of these efforts. At the caucus, I gave a super brochure & flyer with comparisons of the candidates on the issues, to EVERY person at my caucus. I gave a prepared speech & showed a video. NO OTHER CANDIDATE did ANY of this! Ron Paul won in my precinct by 7 votes, but WHY were there so many votes for the others? They did NOTHING in my county. I am so confused......how do we deal with the fact that the majority of people in this country are flat out STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????

ME TOO....

Why do cattle run down the shoot? THEY KNOW! There going to die! THEY CAN SMELL IT! But they do it.

Keep at it....

Maybe when they lose everything due to super-inflation,lose their freedom and can't get a job they will wake up...

Ron Paul'08

I posted a similar standing at my caucus yesterday in MO

#1 Gingrich was not on the ballot, so alot of his supporters did not want Mitt to win, so they voted for Santorum.

It was a very low turnout, lots of Paul people did not show up because they knew there is going to be a caucus, many of the Santorum and Romney folk did not have a clue, and I did not let them know. So they think its done, but its not.

Last the idea to stand out at the primary places was not to get votes in general, but to get our Ron Paul supporters to the caucus. So I hope you let them know that the caucus is what counts, not the primary.

if only we had that hypnotizing voice like

limbaugh or hannity or beck etc... then we could convince them to vote for satan himself

why don't those facebook billionaires start up a PAC for ron paul and REALLY change history.... man i wish i was rich!

We have some

Peter Schiff. Well, ok, he has a slight amount of speech impediment, but he is a great speaker because he makes things clear at a ground level, in laymen's terms. And boy does that work wonders for people to be able to learn his great depth of knowledge in Austrian Economics.

We have Tom Woods. Now there's a great speaker.

Just look at any of the speakers offered on video at Mises.org. Douglas French, Lew Rockwell. Might not be the greatest speaker, but I like Robert Murphy a lot.

There are a lot of good ones. We have them, they just aren't MSM.

I like this speech by Jacob H. Huebert, Is There Hope for Liberty in our Lifetime? Check it out if you like...

WE HAVE ONLY OURSELVES

DON'T think that Peter Schiff, Tom Woods, or any other "RICH" guys are going to pay anything but lip service to this cause.IF the GOOD DR. dose not win, I'll BET my MODEST SILVER & GOLD, investments, THERE ONE OF THE FIRST TO TAKE WHAT THEY GOT AND GET OUT. We have only ourselves, the irate minority.
