James Rosen claims newest Paul press release on delegates "patently false"

Where are these talking heads getting these delegate counts from? Rosen was just talking with Shep Smith emphasized Paul has yet to win a state and "is dead last with only 9 delegates." He then held up a Paul press release paper that nobody could read and claimed that it said "Paul says we are winning the delegates." Rose then laughs with Shep and says that comment is patently false. If we are getting loads of county convention delegates in states, where is the MSM getting these totals from? Are they pledged delegates that have to vote for that candidate? Plus, why do they seem to change depending on the network? Last night, CNN showed Paul have 15 of these delegates and not 9.
Update: this is apparently the press release Rosen laughed at and said was false.
Little do these media drones know that we ARE becoming delegates.

Did Rosen just say Brawndo's

Did Rosen just say Brawndo's got what plants crave, electrolytes?

James Rosen is an idiot and doesn't get it

Each state has delegates to the national convention that are awarded to it. They are then divided proportionally among the candidates based upon their percentage of vote. BUT Mr. Rosen, each caucus depending on the state will elect congressional and statewide delegates. Each congressional delegate goes to their respective congressional conventions and then they elect delegates to the national Convention that then votes for the GOP nominee. The same goes for the state delegates to the state convention and then on to the GOP national convention. What Paul is saying is we have more of these congressional and state delegates than the other candidates, and therefore they will elect Paul supporters as National Delegates.

It's real simple, the other candidates' supporters did not want to be delegates to these events, so Paul supporters took the positions.

The Ending Comment

"Little do these media drones know that we ARE becoming delegates."

Well, I about to comment something but I didn't want the multi-billion media empire get any ideas. Maybe these empty-suits are nothing but tel-prompter reading reporters.

Nevada Delegates

I have seen conflicting descriptions of how delegates are selected in Nevada, especially after recent rule changes. The consensus seems to be that 28 delegates are divided up evenly. However, some procedure descriptions say that the state convention must do this based on the presidential preference poll. Other descriptions say this must be based on the preference of the delegates coming out of the precincts going to county meetings. That is, delegates to national are based on percentages of precinct delegates--if Paul has 50% of the precinct delegates, he gets 14 delegates to national. I suspect it is the former, the state convention is obligated to send bound supporters for candidates based on the poll. However, even if it is this way, having Paul delegate moving up the ladder is important in plank development, keeping the process honest, having enough delegates to go to national, and being available to be alternates. There is a third possibility, some sort of fight for delegates up the ladder, but I have not seen a description related to that.

Perhaps someone close to this can elaborate and explain the latest Nevada party rules.

If No One Will Stand....

...for their candidate, a delegate still has to be elected.

I think there is confusion that a RP delegate for the local levels is somehow the same as those the State sends.

Yes some are committed by some state elections. Yes some are bound for the first round of convention voting. But they can still be RP people and when the candidate quits or the convention moves to the second round of voting.... that is when it becomes patently true.

If these media darlings get to the state conventions and find their votes were lazy media morons and no one from their camp has survived the Ron Paul voting... the joke will be on them. Many locations have state representative and even GOP county chairs supporting Ron Paul. These are not the newbees the media paint us out to be.

Just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

I believe that the press release from the Paul campaign was a direct response to the grassroots reaction regarding the less than exciting results we've got from the recent contests. They don't want us to give up because we're not out of this yet. There has always been a plan that has absolutely nothing to do with the popular vote.

It's all about the delegates.

I'm currently collecting signatures in PA to become a delegate and I should reach my total in a couple days. If no candidate receives enough delegates to win the nomination at the national convention ALL delegates become unbound. Let's say Romney won my district and now I'm a Romney delegate. Who do you think I will vote for in the second round? In some states, delegates are awarded immediately. If Dr. Paul has enough people present and able to represent him then don't just sit there and laugh because nobody is standing up to represent Santorum as a delegate (which I actually saw on cspan). Go over there with a big smile and happily proclaim your desire to represent that fine man as a delegate.

Get as many people as you can to get out and vote but more importantly go to GOP meetings, become a delegate, or help support delegates in your state and district.

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

Just a couple of Points of Info RE...

...delegates to the RNConvention from Penna.

(a) In Penna, your signatures do not make you a delegate. The signatures put your name on the ballot during the April 24th primary. You have to poll in the top three spots for your Congressional district to become a delegate to the RNConvention from Penna.

(b) In Penna, delegates to the RNConvention are unbound from the start.

Note: Penna has 72 delegates to the RNConvention.

It's Part of the Media Strategy

Downplay Paul and his support so that people won't want to waste their vote on someone who can't win.

Three different counts

Three different delegate counts from three different sites. They have no idea what they are talking about.

that cracks me up.

That is false

It is speculating how caucus state's will turn out. They are not finished yet.

True story friend

I believe most of the caucus's thus far (except for Nevada I think) have basically been popular vote beauty contests. The real deal happens at the county and state conventions were the delegates who were elected / appointed / etc at the caucus's decide who they will represent.

After April however, delegates will be assigned proportionally - but varies state to state wether they will be unbound / bound, right?

How does the campaign get

How does the campaign get it's source of how many delegates are/will be awarded?

Some delegates are reserved

Each state gets three delegates related to party positions. Many have already "endorsed" a candidate. Of course the go back up for grabs if the candidate drops out. Romney has a lot of these. I trust the level of detail CNN put together:

You can see there are some party boss delegates that skew the numbers. Also, they have made a massive leap of faith that places like Iowa are going to show the delegate results they are "predicting" from the straw poll. Most of these states should look just like Missouri... zero awarded.

The media keeps misleading the public that everything is a democracy. That is the only way they can control people... if you ever thought a democracy is a good idea, hopefully this election will help you realize how the republic system rewards effort and conviction. The democracy is just a puppet state of the media. Ever thought lazy uniformed voters should be counted out? Guess what, they are. Sad to say but I was one of those armchair quarterback complainers until the 5th of November 2007.

Don't think for a minute though that you won't find convicted and intelligent opposition at the state higher caucuses. All the lazy get cut in the first round. The second round is what you were made to do!

Good insight.

you can contact

you can contact alabamaforronpaul but I believe they are proportional to the straw vote and or winner take all.

Don't forget....

Depending on the state - when Gingrich and Santorum drop out, any delegates pledged to them by vote numbers are free to vote unbound.

Turn those Faux "conservatives" off

They are crooks and liars and they disrespect a great man. How they look at themselves in a mirror is beyond me. No decency, just hack sell outs trying to steal the poor mans lamb. Don't waste another minute of your life letting them aggravate you. There are so many better news sources.

President Ronald Ernest Paul's words

are what I hear and believe. No one else!

Now, the hard part, getting others to the truth for the best interest. Not going to come from the paid pundits.

Please Remember

These guys are either not old enough, or not sharp enough, to know what a brokered convention is and how the process works.

They think that their delegate count is the only one that matters, since the actual outcome and the MSM's 'declarations' have largely been consistent for many years. This year is different.

Gird your loins, stay the course, keep fighting the good fight, button your lip and become a delegate.

From a neocon..

..that is blatant dissemination of fabricated information. Ignore him. It's just upsetting that some of us buy this. Their rants should mean nothing to us.

This is good

Let them think that we're loosing. It minimizes the attacks, keeps nicey nice with the other candidate camps, and off the radar of the media numbskulls.

Not a bad thing at all.

It's all about grassroots baby. This campaign will win *in spite* of all the negative media coverage we receive. Let them think Ron is foolish. Let them think Ron's in last place for the delegate count. Let them think that Ron doesn't have a chance in hell of becoming the nominee.

And when we show up in Tampa, where the Ron Paul delegate army roars it's collective breath, the GOP will know in that instant that they are completely and entirely f@cked.
