ESPECIALLY if they are undecided or think their candidate isn't "popular" enough. We've only had a few states to vote so far. A national poll showing Paul as the most popular "not-Romney" before Super Tuesday could be HUGE!

Remember the mob mentality. "I like this guy because he's popular." In this case, Mr. Popular is also Mr. Right!

BUT... This is a national poll.... Which means for every state we get single digits in... there are states we will be in the 30+%...

Oh yeah, and it's completely useless because there is no national primary.

This poll does not allow people to answer their party affiliation. It attempts to force people into the left-right paradigm. This is a flawed assumption that will give inaccurate results.

Furthermore, there is little basis for comparison in the poll if the head to head match up does not include all FOUR GOP candidates. The absence of Paul and Santorum on that question shows the pollster is biased and attempting to make it look like they are gathering statistically meaningful data, when in fact, they are simply using that as a ruse to publish slanted information in an attempt to unlawfully influence the election.

At the very least, any outlet which publishes this data or any analysis of it that does not chastise IPSOS/Reuters for their flawed methodology, should be sanctioned at the least if not taken to court on criminal charges.

I've had enough with this bullshit from pollsters and media outlet collusion.

It is long past time to throw the book at them, then lock them under the jail and throw away the key. Maybe NDAA the bastards while we're at it.

I've commented on other polls before and in particular when people try to use crosstabs on small samples. It is just not doable. The error bars are just insanely large. And people really need to keep in mind that not all pollsters are created equally and even the good ones sometimes have bad results (not necessarily intentionallyl.)

There is a lot more to a poll than just reading the top line result. You have to look at the methodology - who were contact, how, how many, how were the demographics split and are they representative, etc. Most times you wont't get a fraction of what you need to see to 'believe' in a poll.

Nate Silver @538 developed a system which evaluated the pollsters overall and state by state, race by race to try to determine which are good and which are bad. He then uses this in his own modeling of races.

Its not easy stuff even when done right.

These are folks who saw the SC poll with Paul at 20% and said "how can he be so low? It must be a way to cover up vote fraud!". And of course it was an outlier on the HIGH side.

It is quite possible all or even none of Santorum's support in this poll came from the 3 states he won.

These types of polls are no basis for comparison of anything.

It's like looking up the "average global temperature" over the last week to decide if you need to wear a jacket or shorts when leaving the house a month from now. Completely MEANINGLESS for ANY purpose.
