I'll see how I feel if this
I'll see how I feel if this comes to fruition.
For now though, consider this: Ron Paul continues to be perceived as a novelty act by so many (fools) that his presence on the ticket would finally confirm his credibility, paving the way for his message to stay on radar as others pick up the torch for future election cycles at both the local and national level.
Of course he's going to be on
Of course he's going to be on the ticket, he's going to win the nomination duh
Romney/Paul - 2 reasons why I
Romney/Paul - 2 reasons why I would support the ticket... 1. Romney might have very high cholesterol and drop dead. 2. Rand Paul would benefit if his dad was VP for 4 years, and a deal was reached to have Rand Paul become VP for the second term so Ron can retire if he so chooses.
But the reality on the ground will be much different. The delegates are all going to gather at the convention and they're going to be faced with one simple question. Which of the four men can beat Obama. The arguments will be made for all to hear...and the political demographics will make their eventual choice crystal clear. Ron Paul is the only man who can defeat Chairman Obamao, and the numbers prove it.
The Republicans can't live with him and can't live without him!
They are trying to save the Republican Party.
If I was Mitt I would take the VP job to Ron
.
Really...
VP to Romney. VP is an empty suit job for a dummie with no ideas, perfect for Mitt. RP2012 In It To Win It
9/11 was an inside job .....time to get some answers..RP 2012
If RP is VP and accepts this, then Hell Yes We Should Vote for
that ticket.
It might be a compromise, but if he takes it we need to support him.
It also means that our votes have been relevant. The majority do not yet agree with us. If we get our guy, through our efforts, into the VP spot it means we are a force to be reckoned with.
If we write in Paul and he loses, then we're just 'annoying'.
Plus, imagine the neocons having to deal with Paul for at least 4 strait years!!!!
You can't fire a VP. So if Paul came out against a President Romney on any issue it would be political fireworks and a big deal. Romney might have to play ball.
I agree with this. Dr. Paul knows what he is doing. IF
he accepted a VP role then I would trust him and vote the ticket.
~Your perception becomes your reality~
US history teaches us...
that you can be of different mindsets and still work together. It has happened in US history where you have the President and Vice-President be of totally different parties. It used to go to the "top two" of the electoral college if you will, until later changes. Why would this be any different? There would definitely be some good to Paul on the ticket in any regards. This is of course if he accepts (and his supporters with definite changes), or if Romney accepts, etc... The two do regard each other with more respect than any other pair out there.
Los Angeles Paul
One has to see the forest for
One has to see the forest for the trees ... one has to see the bigger picture. Did nobody ever read about Thomas Jefferson as VP? Ron Paul could and would radically change the role of the VP, if it ended up that he fell into that position. It may not be ideal, but it is far better than many other options. It need not be all or nothing, and anyway Dr. Paul would then only be a heartbeat away:
http://www.dailypaul.com/202264/thomas-jefferson-the-vice-pr...
Ron Paul says "He could talk to Romney." and he has supported
Romney's source of income arguing that there is nothing wrong with being a venture capitalist (of course). Ron Paul has defended Romney on a few other issues.
The AntiChrist tag-team of Gingrich and Santorum claim to be "close personal friends". I would lay money on the idea that if one of these two demons got the nomination - he would choose the other to form the "We are Legion" ticket.
Gingrich and Santorum are SO unpalatable - I have voted Republican all my life and never missed a Presidential election - but I could NEVER bring myself to vote for a Gingrich or Santorum ticket. (I would either vote third party or not vote.)
Its as important that Ron Paul be the nominee as it is that Gingrich and Santorum NOT be the nominee.
No way
not acceptable... RP as VP... It's president or nothing

Ron Paul Or None At All
Everyone here should be voting for Ron Paul for President regardless of his presence on the ballot.
If Ron Paul is the Republican nominee, then vote for the Republican in November.
If the Republican ticket doesn't list Ron Paul in the slot next to President, then you write Ron Paul in.
That simple.
No compromise. Look where 250 years of compromise has left us.
Ron Paul 2012. Accept no substitute.
One thing Dr. Paul could do as VP: RESIGN!
If Romney wanted to start another war and not listen to Ron's admonishment or do another bailout or just about anything else Dr. Paul didn't agree with, then he could resign in disgust.
It would certainly send a message on a world stage.
But I doubt he would take the job in the first place.
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul
umm no
im not buying this one bit, if this guy really is GOP then there's an angle, if he's not, his info is useless. i personally believe the establishment includes both santorum and gingrich and their votes will all be combined when the time comes, RP will be silenced. santorum and gingrich aren't viable, they have no hope of winning, so why are they in?
Maybe Rand
But Romney wouldn't put Ron on the ticket. He's too cautious and would consider that a big risk.
By the way, $10 will buy you a stack of business cards that call you a Republican strategist. To say they are a dime a dozen is to devalue dimes.
Romney will take VP...
...people, what if it goes the other way? If Romney doesn't have the votes.. then no one does. What would you have Paul do? Let Santorum and Newt team up?
If I was Romney, I would ask Paul to take the Presidency slot. If the four years work out. Great, Romney can ride the wave and count his blessings for not having to be unprincipled any longer. If they don't, Great. Paul will not be running for a second term 4 years from now. He won't need more than 4.
Yes, Yes we are all voting for the nomination of Paul, but his strategy is heavy with the "what if?" of a brokered convention. A clear win and we can all be confident it will be an admin overhaul. But what if he could take it, but needed a coalition?
Neither candidate wants Santorum or Newt as baggage. The fact is: Romney (and the party) could seriously benefit from riding shotgun to a Paul presidential slot for 4.
The flip flopper can easily adopt the Paul Plan.
So I put it to you. What if Romney can't take it, but neither can Paul?
He would never
be VP in my opinion, I will not vote for Romney no way no how, I will write him in if I have to.

I understand the zealotry
of everyone posting the "Ron Paul or not at all" comments. I get it. I'm inclined to feel the same way. But to say he wouldn't compromise his principles and take a VP ticket is a little misguided.
First, I don't think he'd see it as compromising his principles. I believe his thought process is that he wants Obama gone, and if it's down to Mittens vs Obama, Mittens CANNOT win without Ron Paul. Can't do it. So, you have to consider that if Ron Paul turned down a VP bid, Obama would win and Paul would be in no position to have any influence in government since he will retire from the House.
It's something to think about. Now, the good doctor definitely has a dog in the fight when it comes to getting the nomination himself. But you can see Romney treads lightly on the topic of Ron Paul, because I think it's very likely that IF Mittens gets the nomination, he will ask Dr. Paul to be his VP.
You give yourself away
when you say "I believe his thought process is that he wants Obama gone..."
Not how RP thinks, not how RP talks, not how RP supporters think/talk either.
Better luck next time.
We all like arrogance
Kidding. Nobody does.
I'm as big a Ron Paul supporter as anyone else. And Ron Paul himself has said that he wants Obama gone. So, there's that.
Not sure what I gave away about myself, except that I like to think about all potential solutions to a problem. Give it a try sometime.
Dangle the VP carrot...
...in front of unthinking individuals naive enough to be manipulated.
I can not even consider the possibility that Ron Paul, after 30 years of standing alone and doing what is constitutional, will throw away the" liberty, peace, sound money revolution" for a meaningless VP spot.
It's Ron Paul or NONE at all for me.
It's important to note that if the VP carrot had been suggested on the Hannity Show, we would all be telling Hannity where to shove the carrot. It really bothers me that the Judge allowed this VP idea to be circulated.
Dr Paul never compromised his ethics and we shouldn't either.
He has it wrong
He just has two things reversed. Ron Paul on the ticket as President and Romney betting him to select him as VP :oP I love the way that the Judge blew him off lol
Vice President is all show.
RP on the top of the ticket and nobody else. VP is for show.
RP as VP??? Get that out of your heads RIGHT NOW!!!
If that were to happen Ron Paul would be the most out of sight, out of mind Vice President in US history. In fact, he would have so little influence with minimal mention in the MSM, Jay Leno wouldn't even bother doing one of his "man on the street" comic routines asking the sheeple who the VP is. THAT'S how bad it would be.
And... as much as I've been a die-hard Ron Paul supporter since early 2007 I'd turn on him in a heartbeat if he chose to wrap-up his unblemished political career by making his first deal/compromise. It would be shameful. I'd much rather see him continue the cause as a private citizen or retire into obscurity than kiss anyone's ring.
I'm voting RON PAUL AS PRESIDENT FOR 2012 no matter what!!!
Unless Ron Paul! -Lorax
here's the catch
this guy's case for RP being on the ticket (yet not necessarily the headliner) is solid. -BUT- i don't see ron accepting a VP role. i think he's in it to win or go home. his goal is to get to the white house, but he'd much rather be relaxing at home than be towing the line for an establishment straw man. i'd have a hard time voting for romney even with RP as a running mate. i just don't see how that helps us. it'd be like voting for Dodd-Frank just for the "audit the fed" portion. sure the audit was good, although it's impact was severely diminished, but the rest of the bill's negative impact heavily outweighed the positive of the audit portion.
You don't change this mess overnight
and you don't change this system from the outside. Our good doctor knows that. Why isn't he running third party? Because this is the only way to change the system, change the status quo and get these ideas into the mainstream way of thinking. I would vote for a Romney/Paul ticket. Why? Because Paul and his freedom, liberty and adhering to the constitution become mainstream. The body politic as well as the GOP will change and evolve. If he doesn't get the one or two slot, he becomes a footnote, it remains politics as usual or worse. I don't really care for Romney but for me he is the most benign compared to MoonNewt or the A.T.P. (American Taliban Party)If Romney is the nominee and chooses another VP I stay home. If the leader of the A.T.P. is the nominee I will vote Obama, as much as I don't want to, simply because old Frothy will have us fighting the next war in Iran real soon. That guy is a nutjob.
Flaw with this logic...
Neocons would likely rather see Obama have another 4 years, than Ron Paul have any power.
Obama keeps foreign policy, military industrial complex, corporate bailouts, and Federal Reserve in place.
THAT'S all they care about.
Therefore, they would rather put a Gingrich or Santorum on the ticket KNOWING FULL WELL THEIR NEGATIVES WILL CAUSE REPUBLICANS TO LOSE THE ELECTION, just to keep Ron Paul from implementing his policies.
