CPAC Organizers Trying To Avoid Another Ron Paul Straw Poll Win
Submitted by celeste on Thu, 02/09/2012 - 06:44WASHINGTON -- The organizers of a major conservative conference here over the next three days are trying to widen participation in a straw poll, a not-too-subtle attempt to give a Republican presidential candidate other than Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) a chance to win.
For the past two years, Paul has won, by large margins, a straw poll of attendees at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference. The results have been something of an embarrassment for CPAC, organized by the American Conservative Union, which comes from a more traditional conservative point of view than Paul's libertarian-tinged version.
This year, the American Conservative Union and CPAC are moving from paper ballots to electronic voting that will be accessible from a computer or a handheld device, said Al Cardenas, the conservative union's current president. He told The Huffington Post that he hopes this will increase the number of attendees who participate in the straw poll.

Ron Paul has them scared to death. If The Neo-Con's in the media fail to derail the Congressman, and his message is heard about the military-industrial-complex this time then it is all but over for the military-industrial-complex and their sycophantic parasites; Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, and the other Progressive leeches in the Republican Party.
Hannity, Medved, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Levin, Savage, Boortz, FOX News, and all of the rest of the Neo-Conservative talk show hosts are doing their best to sabotage Ron Paul. These boors are so frightened that if they let the good Doctor have any clean, uninterrupted air time that their establishment masters will pull the plug on their respective shows. The fear that if Ron Paul is heard and the American people begin to resonate with his common sense, non-aggressive foreign policy is palpable whenever they interview him. It is evidenced by their attempts to belittle Dr. Paul with their biased questioning and infantile barbs.
AND now, is that great and supposedly honest CPAC doing its bit to sabotage Ron Paul by switching to an easily manipulated computer tallying system? Will they fudge the numbers or will it be an honest poll? I'm not holding my breath., Neo-cons will lie like Democrats to maintain their power.

is a paper ballot counted publicly and with public numbers of eligible voters and total votes cast. No secret locations, electronic machines, cameras banned, video banned, or other funny business. I DO NOT TRUST OUR ELECTION PROCESS ANY LONGER until we have a new watchdog organization and until we completely eliminate electronic voting machines.

Way to turn off those young Paul voters.

What is the truth?
Did CPAC invite Ron Paul, or not? Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't, but if that's the case, Ron Paul ought to have a field day with that! If they did invite him, gee, I'm wondering about the logic of missing it. We're hardly seeing any Ron Paul in the news these days. They're doing a great job of getting him off the radar.

Great way to instill confidence and credibility in the accuracy, honesty and reliability of the CPAC vote by switching to verifiable methods, with paper records and lots of transparency in the vote counting and tallying CPAC - NOT!
It is as if CPAC officials got together and purposefully brainstormed for ways to cast doubt, uncertainty, raise red flags and destroy trust and confidence in their straw poll. "Gee I have a great idea. Let's eliminate all transparency in the vote counting and tallying, eliminate all paper vote records and tracking, and destroy all methods of physically auditing and verifying the integrity of the vote. We'll call this the Stalin method of democracy. Henceforth this will be the CPAC Stalin straw poll."
Even if the the vote counting and tallying is completely honest and accurate and no glitches, malware, or errors in the program, electronics or system , there is still no way to be confident in such a system. There is no confirmable physical record to verify the vote counting and tabulation.
Shouldn't the goal to be to instill maximum confidence in the vote by promoting verifiable methods and maximum transparency like physical ballots, and keeping the ballot box in open public view during the entire process, and open public viewing of the opening of the ballot boxes and the counting of the ballots and the tallying of the ballot counts from each ballot box. Shouldn't confidence and integrity in the election process have highest priority.
