Throw a Frisbee? That'll be $1,000, please.
Submitted by MarcMadness on Thu, 02/09/2012 - 13:22Sometimes local government tyranny seems to just be mocking itself. But as cities and counties around the country continue to face expanding deficits in a not-so-great economy to fund their oh-so-necessary bureaucracies, it's no doubt they will continue to reach for more and more ways to try to snatch a buck from you and I.
And now the tyranny reaches into my own backyard, quite literally, as Los Angeles County has approved fines up to $1,000 for throwing a frisbee or football on any beach in the county. No, seriously. Go click on the link. I'm not making this up. The rule will prohibit “any person to cast, toss, throw, kick or roll” any object other than a beach ball or volleyball “upon or over any beach” between Memorial Day and Labor Day. I guess volleyballs are safe, but frisbees and footballs are deadly. I'm too lazy, but someone someone, preferably Matlock, should look into just into ties between LA County officials and the Volleyball Lobby.

Here's what you do! Get 10
Here's what you do! Get 10 to 100 people a week to throw a banned item on the beach, 100 people all at once would be even better. These people should be unemployed, or students on break, or kids that don't have jobs, or homeless people. Accept the citation, then immediately appear before the judge. Tell the judge that you are there to pay your debt to society, NOT with money, but through time served! At an average daily rate of $200 per day, each person will sacrifice up to 5 days. That's 5 days of free food, and shelter at their expense. Once it is recognized that this program is only COSTING them, they will drop it! Imagine having to turn out muggers to make room in jail for a kid that threw a football on the beach! The ONLY reason these oppressive schemes work is because they bring in MONEY! Make it MORE expensive then profitable and this WILL END! It may seem extreme, but until we do these things it will only get worse!
If only 20% of people that received a traffic citations offered to sit their time out in jail, there would be NO MORE traffic tickets!
It is just getting more crazy by the day
I saw this on Drudge this morning, Ridiculous!
We are loosing are freedom by the day. If only for this reason I can't understand anyone not supporting Dr Paul. I was watching tv last night and I saw a car insurance commercial and the gist of it was; if you installed their device in your car that monitored your driving you could get a discount. I just yelled "can you believe this" my wife said "you are loosing it" I said "no we are all loosing it, our freedom!"
Is it the Safety Police or the Fun Police?
Either way, its nerds who couldn't get any action and whose lives are miserable so they have to create laws to make other people's lives miserable.
What a bunch of nerds!
My God's not dead; he's surely alive. And he's living on the inside roaring like a lion.
Another $$ Making Law for our "Protection"
Just one more ridiculous law to make cash. Like helmet laws or seatbelt laws, created for our "Protection" but really just cash cows.
