Delegate selection begins in Virginia, Florida, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina, Wyoming
Submitted by valleyforge on Thu, 02/09/2012 - 17:24According to the green papers there are district caucuses this month to begin the process of selecting delegates in Virginia, Florida, Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina. While these delegates will be bound to a candidate on the first convention ballot based on the primary results, we need to get Paul supporters in these slots if we want a say on the second or third ballots.
Minnesota is also holding the second level of the delegate selection process - BPOU caucuses (basic political organization unit).
Wyoming is holding county caucuses with a straw poll this month. This seems to be our only chance to influence the Wyoming county conventions in early March where the sitting precinct committeemen will select and bind the national delegates.

In VA
I'm in VA and want to become a delegate, but have never participated beyond voting in relation to politics. I have e-mailed the campaign more than once, signed up to be a delegate at the Springfield rally and signed up again where a a man was working a Paul promotional booth at my polling site - have heard squat. I know nothing of Robert's rules - getting a book soon - I hope. I am very frustrated here - so any advice you can give would be much appreciated.
Get in there....
Be a delegate for Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, or Paul...weigh your chances of being a Paul delegate (based on whether the delegate totals are proportional to vote) or a delegate for another candidate and then act accordingly.
But we *NEED* to fill up most of the delegates in these states with Paul supporters, one way or the other!

Hot Springs County Wyoming
We are working hard in Hot Springs but we only get an alternate delegate at the state convention. Important to note though, 12 delegates will be chosen at large at the convention, so we will get as many of our 6 delegates to be RP folks as possible. It should be easy as it's a 300 mile drive & a long weekend, the other candidates won't be able to get that kind of commitment from folks here.
Also, we are putting our straw poll and County delegate selection at the END of the precinct caucus on the 23rd so they have to sit through ALL of the party business before voting.
The vote count will be accurate here as well. :*)

You have to submit an application to be a Presidential Elector, just to be a GOP Convention Delegate? Why would they connect those two things?

I'm already on it. Went to the meetings, and have been promised a spot.
How do you find your info?
How do you find your info? I live in Walworth County, where do I find if and when there is a Caucus? I can't find a thing online.
North Carolina is indeed in February...
you'll need to check your local county to be sure of when they are holding their precinct/county conventions.
This thread had impeccable timing as it prompted to me to check my county GOP website just one more time. I was looking for the calendar of events when I noticed the entire website had been revamped.
Much to my surprise, plastered over most of the home page was "Want to be a National GOP Delegate?"
I'm hoping they are this forward about it because they have a hard time finding people to be delegates. All I need is one spot. Now I need to find others in my county I can bring with me!
Jackpot! http://www.forsythcountygop.com/
I live in Forsyth County North Carolina and the county convention will be held on March 3rd. Later than I anticipated. I have already sent my intention to attend since I am not on Facebook.
Here is the text of the home page:
Have you ever wondered how folks were lucky enough to attend one of those televised National Conventions? Have you ever wanted to go? It’s easier than you might think.
Your Path to the National GOP Convention
Many people don’t know how easy it is to reach the State and National Republican Conventions as a delegate. There are a few steps you must follow, here are some tips and links below to help you.
Basic Steps
1. Attend your local Precinct Meeting/Convention (In Forsyth County, it is 3/3/12 .. RSVP on Facebook.). This is the most important first step entitling you to be a delegate to your county convention!
2. Attend your County Convention as a delegate (you must attend the Precinct Meeting to be eligible). This confirms your eligibility to be a delegate to the State Convention.
3. Attend your Congressional District Convention. Three Delegates & Alternates are elected in each district.
4. Attend your State Convention as a delegate (you must attend your County Convention to be eligible). The balance of state delegates are elected here.
Other Tips
* There is no cost to attend our local Precinct Meeting/Convention and it is the single best starting point in your quest to influence the political landscape.
* There is usually a cost associated with attending Conventions above the county level, that will be announced on our site when the information is available.
* Time Commitments: Our Precinct Meeting/Convention take a few hours because we do it all the same day, the State Convention is held over two days, and the National Convention can take 4-5 days.
Forsyth Dates:
* March 3- Forsyth County GOP Precinct Meetings and Convention- RSVP on Facebook. Not on Facebook? Inform us of your intentions to attend the county convention through our contact form.

NC delegate
This is my first post.
I've been a supporter of Paul since '07. I want to be a delegate. I'm in Catawba County, hopefully I'll get in.
Thanks for posting this; I had the idea that I could just show up the day of the vote and wait around but didn't have a clue as to what I was actually supposed to do.
Was at the Catawba County Precinct Meeting last night
and became a delegate. It was basically as easy as showing up because there were far more delegate slots than there were people. If you didn't manage to become a delegate yet then please plan on attending the County Convention tomorrow because there are still many open delegate slots left.
Catawba
I was there and I am a delegate.
We need to stay in touch...
to help each other in our understanding of what we experience. I am new to this also and with a little outside information had to figure this out for myself so far.
It would sure be nice to have a contact fairly close by to communicate with.
Use the contact form at DailyPaul to send me an email if you agree.
Thanks and good luck at your precinct/county convention!

Double bump
My county GOP office will not return any attempt of mine to communicate with them. My next step is to try and get out of work during the day and go down in person.
I'm in North Carolina and figure this state will be similar to South Carolina in mindset, but my hope is to be bound for whatever candidate at the convention and then become unbound.
Look out Nelly if that happens!

North Carolina is apparently proportional
So some delegates should be bound to Ron.
