My Speech to Be Given at the Nebraska Republican Primary for a Delegate Spot (Feedback Encouraged!)

Here is what I plan on saying at the Nebraska Republican Primary when delegates are being selected:

"My fellow Republican members, this election year we are facing a crisis. Under the Presidency of Obama we are witnessing the destruction of small government, of the free market, of the very roots that created the greatest nation of all time...the United States of America. You need to send delegates to the convention in Tampa in November that aren't afraid to say, 'I believe in the free market, I believe in lower taxes, I believe in small and limited government, I believe in protecting the borders of this great nation...I believe in freedom!' Send my to Tampa and I will fight for these great values that has been the backbone of the United States. Thank you!"

I'm trying to keep it short (under 30 seconds) but to the point. I'm also not going to mention whom I voting for (besides letting my other fellow Ron Paul supporters know of course before hand). Also noticed how I mentioned protecting the borders of the United States without really bringing up foreign policy.

Feedback is encouraged! Should I add something, taking something out? Thank you!

Type o though: "Send me to Tampa" (not "my").

Time to INVESTIGATE the investigators of 9/11. PROSECUTE the prosecutors. EXPOSE the cover-up.

If you haven't already done

If you haven't already done so yet, make sure you've:

1. Registered Republican (obviously)
2. Filed to be a delegate at your county clerk or election commissioner no later than March 1st
3. Entered your information at http://neforpaul.com Trust me, after 2008 we learned that coordination is key. In the more populated counties especially, we MUST know who to vote for. This is more important, I believe, than even having a good speech prepared. If we all sign up our friends as delegates, then coordinate our votes, we can do this.

What county are you in ?

Make sure you go down to your local courthouse and file by March 2nd to be a delegate at your local county convention.

Depending on the county you are in will play a big factor
on how hard it is going to be to become a delegate to the state convention.

The county I was in during the 2008 county conventions we never gave speeches..just threw our hat into the ring. The key thing to do in Nebraska is to make sure you get allot of Ron Paul supporters to the local county convention to vote for you and do NOT reveal who you are supporting.

Speech or no speech the old guard are well armed and ready to vote for who they want as delegates..you need numbers to get elected as a delegate to the state convention.

From an editor

Two corrections that will keep you from stumbling as you deliver this speech:

"Save my"

"that has"

Otherwise, go get 'em!!!!

Gun Rights

You forgot to mention it.

Your last line "Send my to Tampa and I will fight for these great values that has been the backbone of the United States."

Sounds forced; sounds written, not spoken.

Try this instead:

Now if you reckon a proud & conservative America is where you want to be, then sending me to Tampa is the best answer you can give.

When you hit that last line, wag your finger like Andy Griffith in Matlock.(In an up/down motion like striking an anvil, not the left/right motion which is chastizing) Older people like me just love that stuff.

gun rights!

LOL how could I forgot to add something so important? Also I like the ending you provided. Thanks!

I've pasted and copied your thoughts

in case I get to that same situation... And I've wondered how to keep my candidate under 'wraps', so to speak. I like what you've pulled together.

I would include something

I would include something about NDAA and what it means to America. It really hasn't sunk in for perhaps 90% of the people that we truly are no longer a free society and our current form of government under the leadership of President Obama resembles more a Soviet Union model of government than a government of liberty by the people, for the people, on which our great nation was founded. We need to reverse this now! while we still can!

This kind of rhetoric will surely resonate with your fellow Republicans (even though Obama has very little if anything to do with the tyranny you are exposing).

To Radical?

I'm trying to get elected delegate and my fear of mentioning the NDAA is that it would seem to radical for most voters ,especially here in my area of Nebraska.

Suggestion from fellow Nebraskan

I also plan on being a delegate. My speech if needed will include the bank bailouts. The fact that the Rule of Law no longer apllies in this country anymore at least for a chosen few. Also mention the Cornhusker Kickback that was the deciding vote for Obamacare by Dem Senator Ben Nelson. Mention leaving a bleak future for children and grandchildren. What county are you in, I'm in eight.

Perhaps. You know the mood

Perhaps. You know the mood of the peeps better than anyone.

if you are a christian you

if you are a christian you can choose to mention that as well. a lot of republicans are christian after all.

Good idea

I'll add that fact somewhere in my speech

Corey Stoffer-Vice Chairman Young Americans for Liberty Nebraska

If you add that fact

you might also want to add a few thoughts on how anti-christian our foreign policy is.

πολλα γαρ πταιομεν απαντες ει τις εν λογω ου πταιει ουτος τελειος ανηρ δυνατος χαλιναγωγησαι και ολον το σωμα

Nice job

Overall, that sounds pretty good. I'm a little bit curious about your strategy though. Won't the people voting for you want to know for whom you plan to vote?

Also, just for me personally, I dislike when people mention what Obama has/hasn't done in support of another candidate. Doing that is more of a Romney move. Plus, not only is it a fallacy, but it also implies that everything was going just fine before Obama became president.

Your speech is good, but I think you could pretty easily make it even better and emphasize how dire this election is if you somehow point out that we have a history of electing unworthy candidates who simply maintain the status quo rather than just mentioning Obama. Obviously the major problems we face as a nation did not begin in 2008, and people know that - even if only subconsciously. I think you could make a stronger case by emphasizing that we face long-standing (and growing) problems and they require somewhat drastic solutions.

Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Thanks

The reason why I'm hitting Obama so hard is that many Republican's here in Nebraska would vote Bush back in a heartbeat, so I don't want to lose them by saying something bad about Bush. Also I don't think you have to say who you are voting for...so if it's pressed I'll just saying I'm voting for the candidate that believes in small government, free trade, and protecting our borders.

In that case...

I retract my suggestions. Evidently I don't know much about the political climate of the central states. I'm in Western New York. Good luck on your speech, my friend.

Congratulations in advance. I'm sure you'll be elected.
