Submitted by AnAppealToHeavenWash on Fri, 02/10/2012 - 01:14* ALERT * Indiana Delegate Filing Deadline - You Must File Form CAN37 By Noon Today (Feb. 10) With Your County Clerk! * ALERT *
#1 Print out this form...
http://www.in.gov/sos/elections/files/CAN-37_(2012_revision).pdf
#2 Generally you should check DELEGATE and circle "At Large" after filling in your details exactly as they appear on your current voter registration. Those details can be found here with just your county, name and birthdate...
https://indianavoters.in.gov/PublicSite/Public/FT1/PublicLookupMain.aspx?Link=Registration
#3 Take this form to your County Clerk's office (leave blank where you have questions) and ask to speak with the County Clerk personally. They will generally help you to complete the form if you have questions. The clerk will then validate the form for you, certify and then stamp the form "FILED AND DATE IT" for you. Have them give you a copy of the certified/stamped form for your own records.
#4 You are done now! ...and will likely represent THOUSANDS of voters as a delegate for your county and for the state of Indiana. Good Luck!
Important: Don't advertise your Ron Paul affiliation... If you must say something try this... "Anybody is better than Obama" or "I like the top three republican candidates a lot."
.
Note: Half of Indiana's delegates are UNBOUND (don't vote according to the popular election results - its their free choice) in the first round of voting at the national convention. In the second round, all of Indiana's delegates are UNBOUND and free to vote for their own candidate.

I'm a delegate
I was the only one signed up in my precinct so I'll be the only name on the ballot.
Here we go!
Got it turned in with 45
Got it turned in with 45 minutes to spare.
AtlasHugged you are awesome!
I am so glad I posted these instructions and notice last night.
Seems we now have at least 3 new potential RON PAUL Delegates.
And after you guys see your name on the ballot May 8th, you may want to take the next plunge and run for one of Indiana's nine congressional seats or a place on city or county council.
Go RON PAUL!

Precinct vs. At Large
My CAN-37 form is filled out and ready to turn in, however I already filled it out for my precinct and not at-large. Can anyone elaborate on the pros and cons of each?
BTW... My brother turned his in yesterday and immediately got a call from our county's Republican party chair who wasn't very happy to find out he was a Paul supporter.
I beleive
precinct are actually on the ballot in each precinct but the at-large will be appointed to precincts after the election to any empty spots.
Don't check either box yet and ask them when you go in. If less than the available delegates have signed up in your precinct you want to go as a precinct and be on the ballot because you'll be guaranteed a spot. If several others have signed up in your precinct you can either go against them in the election as another precinct delegate or go at-large and hope to be appointed to another precinct where no one signed up. LIKELY THERE WILL BE OPEN SPOTS IN YOUR PRECINCT.
If you go at-large don't tell them you're a Ron Paul supporter because they could avoid appointing you to a spot.
This is getting fun now!
As I understand it..
Most delegates are "At Large". For example in Monroe County we have 4 districts with 2 delegates assigned per district. Then there are another 19 delagates that are classified At Large... for a total of 27 county wide.
If you run for a district delegate here in Monroe and 2 other people are already running for those slots you may get bumped.
However, if only 16 people are signed up for 19 At Large spots then you are pretty well guaranteed delegate slot/position.
Depends on your county and how many people have decided to run for each type of delegate.

Thanks!
I circled "at large" on the form, so we'll see how things shake out when I go to the courthouse today. I'm in Bartholomew County.
EDIT: Just saw the first comment. I'm just going to print a new one and leave the precinct/at-large blank until I get to the courthouse.
Go Columbus!
If you are in Bloomington look me up!

Will do.
I'm very familiar with Bloomington. Did my undergrad at IU.
Turned in my form. They informed me that I registered democrat in the '08 primary (I unfortunately got caught up in Obama fever before discovering libertarianism soon thereafter.) and that my application would have to be reviewed by the county chair and that he may throw it out. :-( There's a mistake that I'm paying for 4 years later.

In this case it is better to stay home and save the gas.

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!
You also need to be voted for in the Primary
Thanks for posting about this, but you forgot one thing: the CAN37 is simply to get your name on the primary ballot as a delegate candidate. You then need to be a top vote-getter in your local township or county district to go on to the state convention. So make sure that, once you file, you go do some campaigning and ask as many registered republicans in your neighborhood as you can to vote for you.
No campaigning needed...
in most areas because very few people actually sign up. In fact as of yesterday in district 2 only a few of the precincts actually had anyone on the ballot. Most will remain open if no one signs up and then the GOP chair appoints the insiders to the positions.
So don't worry about campaigning, just get on the ballot.
But just get that darn form turned in this morning.

someone who has access to the Indiana Ron Paul meetup pages needs to post this there RIGHT now!
Go Maine! Please vote!
I'll do my part, in my State, when the time arrives. TY to those who have voted and, are involved with the process. Go east coast!
Texas
Shady happenings are going on in Texas primary plans. Moving to not even have the
Primary!
New to a district
I moved about 6 months back and filled out a change of venue form off of the front page of this. I live in Avilla indiana 46710 and am not sure where my precint is or the name of it. Will I be able to get all of my information at the town hall, or where would my best bet be to find out exactly how to fill out the form properly?
Go to the Clerk's office
At your courthouse and tell them you would like help filling out the form. They should be happy to assist you.
It's easy
I filed my paperwork this week. Only a few spots have been filled the vast majority around the state remain open and will be appointed by those in power if we don't fill them.
Just do it.
