I quit watching tv when we invaded Iraq

In the summer of 2002 I heard Bush say "Saddam Hussein" for the first time since 9/11. Immediately I saw it all. I knew Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. And adding to it what seemed like unfinished business with his dad, I could tell Bush was pulling a bait and switch. I could tell we were going to go to war and be in Iraq indefinitely, costing us thousands of troops' lives and hundreds of billions of dollars. Those next 8 or 9 months leading up to the war I kept getting angrier at what was going on. I couldn't take it anymore. I was seeing propaganda all over the place on tv. After maybe two days at war, I consciously did not want to turn the tv on at all. The habit stayed around. I had a tv that I put in the living room of a house I was living in with roommates. The most I ever used it was to watch a movie, which rarely happened. I ended up selling it to a roommate and never looked back.

Are you tv-free yet?
