The Sun is Setting - Tell Everyone You Know
If we say nothing while watching someone walk off a cliff and plunge to her death we would be criminally negligent. If we ride past a home in the early morning and see smoke rising from the roof and don’t call 911 we would be criminally negligent. Today, as we watch our nation walk off a cliff, as we watch the smoke rise from the home of the brave and the land of the free, if we do not do all we can to raise the awareness of our fellow Americans we are criminally negligent.
Those who are awake to the coming end of limited government have watched this slow motion train wreck for our entire lives. We have watched as inch by inch the Federal Government has lured our fellow citizens into one entitlement trap after another. We have wondered when they will wake up and pay attention.
Election after election we have marveled at the shallowness of the debate. One side says, “If you elect them they will gut the safety net and throw Grandma off the cliff!” And after every election no matter who wins the safety net becomes more of a hammock. The other side says, “If you elect them they will gut the defenses and whoever the currently fashionable model of a barbarian horde happens to be will soon stifle freedom, walk upon Old Glory and turn us all into slaves.” And after every election the defense budget grows and the policeman of the world continues to walk the beat.
Blind justice may be good but a blind electorate is falling for these two straw man arguments electing demagogues whose motto might as well be, “You know I’m lying but you like what I say.” The social safety net will not be eliminated by any of these empty suits. It will instead become the sack the cats are sewn in before the crazy guy throws it in the river. The defense budget will not be gutted. It won’t even be reduced. Baseline budgeting and secret off budget black ops funding will make sure our 900 base 130 country overseas empire continues to make sure the sun never sets on the stars and stripes.
As each constitutional guarantee falls by the wayside we wonder when enough people will turn off the game, forget about the vampires, the hoarders, and the dysfunctional non-reality reality stars and realize our nation and our children’s heritage is being transformed into what our ancestors fought a revolution to be rid of?
Most of us, even the comatose can recite, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” Our assembly line public education has drilled that into our heads.
What our one more brick in the wall system hopes we don’t recall is the next line, “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,” And they pray that we don’t shout the next line, “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness.”
When a government uses the excuse of security to tap our phones, monitor electronic communications, and generally read our mail without a warrant, to arrest and detain American citizens on American soil without a warrant, and hold them indefinitely without trial, to wage war without declaration or even congressional approval what we have here is more than a failure to communicate. What we have is a central government establishing a tyranny in the name of providing security.
Ben Franklin told us, “Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”
Looking for substance we tune into the ad nauseam insipid debates organized and orchestrated by a partisan press merely trying to make the Republicans look like the bar scene from Star Wars. What do we hear? Except for the lone exception we hear one after another big government professional calling for less spending, less regulations and more war. Out of that list all we will get is more war. And the lone exception is continuously relegated to the status of an also ran by every news organization including the supposedly conservative one.
On the other side we are offered four more years of this: four more years of total transformation until we wake up one day in the Progressive version of Heaven: a cradle-to-grave nanny state fighting endless wars for peace.
Regimented, controlled, secure and listening as the same comatose voters who brought us to this place repeat the pabulum that jumps off the teleprompters into the mouths of the info-announcers as if these were their own opinions.
We cannot, we must not allow this to happen without at the very least exerting every effort to wake up anyone within the sound of our voice. To do this we of course must be awake and aware ourselves.
If we do not know where we came from how can we know where we are? If we don’t know where we are, how can we know where we are going?
We must study to show ourselves approved. If we lose the foundation how will the structure stand? We must know and understand the constitutional and historical underpinnings of this noble experiment in human freedom if we are to preserve it. We must know and understand the flow of current events if we wish to shape the future.
Study, learn, share, and look for the lights in the tower. One if by land and two if by sea, we must recognize the signs of the times and try to wake up as many people as we can. The time is late, the hour is dark, but the right shall prevail.
Forty-seven years ago a young pre-rap poet songwriter tried to wake people up to the intrusion of government and the need to recognize it when he said, “Maggie comes fleet foot face full of black soot talkin’ that the heat put plants in the bed but the phone’s tapped anyway Maggie says that many say they must bust in early May orders from the D.A. Look out kid Don’t matter what you did. Walk on your tiptoes don’t try “No-Doz” better stay away from those that carry around a fire hose keep a clean nose watch the plain clothes you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows”
Knowing which way the wind blows should tell us that we must do our duty to save our country or it will be lost. I don’t know about you but in the future when my grandchildren ask, “What did you do to hold back the night?” I want to be able to say more than, “I didn’t notice the darkness.”
Keep the faith, keep the peace, we shall overcome.

Many plaudits below, but I have to say that of those in the top twenty or so comments immediately below, no one has given this piece its just recognition. I haven't gone beyond that because of time pressure, but I'm saving the rest for later, and conclusions can be drawn from what I have already read.
As a soon-to-be Ph.D. myself, I have to say this is masterfully argued and astute in inferences not commonly found out there.

Economic blowback
Great article. The form the sunset will take will be economic blowback. Why? because markets are so efficient.
Smart people won't want to immigrate here; rich people won't want to imigrate here; smart and wealthy people will leave the US; companies will prefer to deal with non US suppliers and non US customers trading in currencies other than the US$; they will also prefer to invest elsewhere. Individuals will invest in other stock markets; nobody will want to keep assets in the US for fear of their assets being seized for whatever reason; and so on. and they will all prefer to trade in a currency other than the US$.
Is it worth saving?
The USSR collapsed and after a million or two people dependent on it for survival quietly died, the Nations that make up that Union picked up the pieces, and in some cases life then improved.
What would be so bad if the federal government collapsed under the weight of its own version of the warfare/welfare system and closed up shop, with the States or some new Unions of them picked up the pieces? Could life become much worse?

So if I don't do what you think I should do in your three scenarios you think I am a criminal? Does that mean you would initiate force against me to kidnap, cage or murder me like the state does?

That was a good read. This bit from the Declaration of Independence:

sounds like it could be used to justify a Constitutional Convention or otherwise introduce a radical change in the present Government structure. It is saying that the entire Republic could be swept aside if it has crumbled into ruin and a new or another FORM of Government set up in its place. Here is one possibility:
There is another Constitution, the original Constitution FOR the united States that you probably know about that was set aside in 1871 and a new Constitution OF the United States (Corporation) was put in its place and both exist today, one de jure, the original one, and one de facto the one being used at the moment.
The original one has now been activated and another Government structure is fully occupied and ready to be introduced at the appropriate time. Of course by doing so one would have to re-introduce all the Amendments after the 15th. Amendment or omit any of those Amendments that have been used to bring about the situation described in the excerpt above from the Declaration of Independence. (The 16th. and 17th. Amendments spring to mind.) It is an intriguing possibility.

To accuse someone of being corrupt is very serious. Do you have evidence of corruption?
When you say "no transparency" what did you wish to see that they have not disclosed on their website? Personally I have never seen any soliciting of money so to indicate that they seek to dupe people into sending them money is a peculiar thing for you to conclude. Do you have evidence for your comment?
There have been growing pains I believe and contention amongst the people involved but then what they are attempting to do is like the Ron Paul revolution, it threatens the status quo. In smearing them as you do you are siding with the establishment. Are you aware of this?

It's simple
I don't believe in fighting corruption with corruption.
The so called leaders of this movement (referred to above) were OF the very establishment they claim to now be defecting from. One who still currently has ties with Homeland Security. In addition, they make claims such as "we have many big money backers in place that have huge reserves of gold ready to help us begin our new economy with sound backing" and have NEVER verified who they are, EVEN when they stated repeatedly that they WOULD release this information..."next week" or "next month" etc. They never have.
Every time they claim they were ready to make a move, some mysterious delay (and even complete absence for a period of time of it's "leader") always ensued. NO explanation.
In addition, they claimed that "many other countries have signed petitions to back the "newly restored republic", even with military force if necessary, which doesn't even make sense let alone that it is completely unconstitutional. (foreign military aiding in a country's internal revolution?).
They have also lead people into believing if they send in money, and fill out a few forms, they get a card that declares that they are "free from the corporate america" and can show it to any officer of the law and be left alone and LOTS of people did this, only to find out how untrue it was. (many the hard way).
The most outward evidence that I ever saw of them doing ANYTHING is a year or so ago, they made a weak effort to "serve all the states" with letters demanding that the current state leaders step down and allow the "newly elected republic" ones step in. I think only a few states actually were served and there was a brief news blurb about it but that was it. So much for the "strong US military backing" they claimed to have to enforce this move as well.
Like I said, the CONCEPT and remedy is absolutely constitutional, but it is not at all what these guys were doing. At best, they were dismal failures at it. At worst.....well, I will refrain from further comment.
And if that alone wasn't enough
Even if what I posted above wasn't of issue, the fact that Tim Turner wants to make this a "CHRISTIAN" nation is also not constitutional.
I am a Christian and I make that statement because although there are Christian principles applied in the Constitution, the founding fathers did NOT state that one religion/belief would supersede another. All were free to practice as they wish. As long as it did not harm or intrude upon another. The founding fathers THEMSELVES (most of them) were not even Christian!
So this alone tells me that what he wants to "restore" this country to is not what our Constitution originally intended or allowed for.
The bottom line is, I am ALL FOR regaining control over our rogue government and getting our country it out of the tailspin it is currently in, but I choose to do it the right way, where ALL people have the opportunity to participate in it's revolution....not just a select few who keep their plans "under wrap" amongst themselves and ask the rest of us to "just trust them."
Uhuh....fool me once.......well you know the rest.

That clears up some of the qualms I had about your allegations. I assume you have listened in to the phone calls they have from time to time and I have not. I have read quite a bit of the material and they appeared to me to be genuine. I still believe they are but even if they were not it does not vitiate the point I was making that the original Constitution does exist and could be used to restore the Republic without the Amendments that have been used to enslave the People and emasculate the States i.e. the 16th. and 17th.
I agree with the fact that the Constitution does not specifically make the USA a Christian nation and in the context of the present reality it would make no sense to enforce such a law. I have read however something from the Supreme Court of the nineteenth century I believe that indicated that the US was indeed a Christian nation. That it is not such today is incontrovertible.
However if an individual State wishes to establish a religion there is nothing that I see in the Constitution forbidding that. I believe in the beginning for example the State of Pennsylvania was a Quaker State and other States also had established Christian (Protestant) denominations. At least that is my understanding. By the same token any State could declare Islam or Buddhism their Sate religion.
Incidentally I am also a Christian believer.
With regard to the gold reserves here is a link to an interview that might clear up the provenance of that question. For myself I do not subscribe to the conclusions contained in the interview. I simply do not know and will wait and see. My intuition is to discount it entirely. Nevertheless I believe this is what the people at the Republic for the united States are probably talking about:

Yes, back when they were known as "Restore America Plan" (before the internal personality conflicts began) I did listen to many of the archives of their phone conferences. (they also had video's too. Not sure if they do now). For me, it just became a matter of too many red flags popping up that I could no longer take them seriously. Like I said, their intent MAY simply be innocent but very misguided. (I'm not convinced). But either way, I don't see them as viable.
Anyway, I agree with you wholeheartedly on states being able to make decisions such as you describe. That 10th amendment holds SO MUCH POWER for the states that, over time, they have abdicated to the federal government in return for "favors and handouts." Such a shame!
I so long for a turn of events that would allow this current generation to SEE that kind of power in action. There's a REASON they used to call this nation "the great experiment." When citizens are left to create and dream freely without fear of oppression, you find some of the most fantastic results ensue. But alas, if you put a dime in me on this line of talk, I shall never stop. :smile:
