NH GOP drops sponsorship of FOX debate
By James Pindell January 5, 2008 11:26 AM
The New Hampshire Republican Party dropped their affiliation with a Republican debate sponsored by Fox News tomorrow night because they have limited the number of candidates that can participate.

“The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field," said Republican chair Fergus Cullen. "Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures."

The Fox debate is excluding Texas Congressman Ron Paul even though he polls higher in New Hampshire and has raised significantly more money, and is campaigning more in New Hampshire than Fred Thompson who is invited.

TIME FOR A LAST MINUTE STATION TELECAST!

Well then.... It's time for the N.H. Republicans to immediately re-affiliate with a new station for tomorrow. Invite who will come, then televise it at the exact time as the Fox forum. It will make Fox look like a fool that the official Republican N.H. state party is televising somewhere else. Plus many people will watch the new station broadcast.

Any one else?!!

Hit them where it hurts!

I'm not a lawyer. But it seems to me that since the NH Republican Part revoked their endorsement of the event there is evidence that FOX is not acting in the interest of the public and is violating the terms of their FCC license. Here is a e-mail I wrote to FOX and the Commissioners of the FCC repost at will:

TO:
Feedback@foxnews.com, KJMWEB@fcc.gov, Michael.Copps@fcc.gov, Jonathan.Adelstein@fcc.gov, dtaylortateweb@fcc.gov, Robert.McDowell@fcc.gov

This communication will be forwarded to the FCC, and I request that this communication be added the FOX/News corp. FCC Public File. I will request a copy of your public file in the future to ensure compliance.

It has come to my attention that Congressman Ron Paul will likely be excluded from participation in a general GOP FOX News forum to be aired on January 6th. The New Hampshire Republican Party has revoked their endorsement of this event, as they deem that Dr. Ron Paul is a viable candidate after receiving 10 percent of the vote and 2 delegates in Iowa's Republican Caucus that took place January 3rd, 2008. Since the NH Republican Party felt the need to withdraw its endorsement, then it seems likely that FOX News is acting against the public interest by excluding viable candidates from their open Republican forum.

Since the FOX News forum is open to Republican Presidential Candidates then it seems duplicitous to exclude one of the 5 Presidential Candidates who have earned delegates toward the Republican Party's Nomination. The NH Republican Party withdrew their endorsement because your broadcast company refuses to uphold its duty to the public to report news. If this effort to defraud the public continues, I will make more complaints to the FCC as well as communicate to your sponsors indicating that they will not receive my business any longer.

Please do you job,

So what! Tell me what that means. What happens then?

We are getting soft. Six months or so ago the grass roots got Ron Paul to where he was being loud and in your face. They were told to calm down.
Some suggested going to NH en mass and block access so the other candidate could not attend. Again people say Oh no that would give us a bad name etc..
It would get us publicity and it would be in our favor. There is no way they can spin out of not providing an open forum for all the candidates.
If they get away with it they will do the same to Ron Paul what they did to Nader. We must fight and not let this stand!

wake up

I agree with GeneFriedman...where is

the national GOP on this? No statement on this from them does not pass the smell test, IMO.

This must be

the Republican party of yesterdays. They have stood up for truth and justice! This makes be very proud.

This is REALLY interesting...

First Jane Aitken related to us that according to the NH GOP (and others) that Ron was NOT being excluded from this forum.

OOPs, turned out that he was.

Then Jane related to us that there was "some type of contract" (her phrase) -- and that it was completely beyond the ability of the NH GOP to withdraw it's support of the event.

I related that I didn't believe Mr. Cullen's statement about this purported "some type of contract" (which no one had seen or been allowed to examine) -- and that I felt Mr. Cullen was being duplicitous. Jane attacked me personally.

OOPs, turned out that the NH GOP apparently DOES have the ability to withdraw it's sponsorship and affiliation of the Fox forum.

So, Jane, is your naivete gone yet? And will you have the character to apologize for the many, many personal attacks you made against others (most of whom were only questioning the validity of the statements from the NH GOP -- and which questions all turned out to be solid)?

BTW, as to the forum itself, I personally don't think it is that big of a deal... It is just one of MANY events in the next few days leading up to the primary, and Ron Paul's exclusion may prove to be as much a benefit as a detriment. If nothing else, it clearly demonstrates to the entire public that Fox News and it's owner -- are attempting to push THEIR agenda down onto the public -- it BLATANTLY demonstrates that bias as factual!

Jane is The Best!

Geez..... Jane is on the same team we're on. She's dedicated, works hard, and does her best to support our cause. She doesn't need to apologize to anyone. Go Jane!

David Cameron

You're right...

Jane sure doesn't need to apologize to anyone, but she's really good at apologizing FOR the GOP.

Seriously, can we please

Seriously, can we please take this crap through personal email. Enough with the hurt feelings, resolve your issues with one another, stop dragging others into it.. and let's focus on the task at hand.

Jane has dedicated her life to this cause. She's not just sitting online BS'n about what we could do, she does. I stand behind her 100%.

She related something different

I can only respond to your first paragraph because that's as much as I read carefully. I remember her posting and it was more of a description of nothing being confirmed and how her contacts in the NH GOP weren't sure about it yet, but wouldn't be part of an exclusion like that. Once her contacts confirmed an exclusion, they were trying to work against it.

Iraq soldiers beats down Huckabee about the war

Drudge? I SENT IT to him

I sent it to Drudge....no post! Wonder why?

I've been having good success getting stuff up there...but, positive media print stuff on RP is hard to find, we know.

Why drudge not posting this Hot news ????

Check out Mr. Cullen's resume -

Didn't realize he was so young - maybe he can smell which way the wind will be blowing in the future?

Also a runner, just like the good Dr.

Who's In Charge Here?

Years ago, the media would broadcast debates sponsored by the parties or some organization like the League of Women Voters. Now, Fox is essentially telling the NH GOP, "step aside. We're running things."
The intent is to turn the political process into a charade run by the corporate media, with the voters little more than a passive audience. The Ron Paul Revolution, by mobilizing a genuine grassroots campaign is not following the script, and that's why he can't be allowed in the debate.
One of the arguments against "campaign finance reform" (contribution limits, public financing) was that it would lead to media control of the political process. We're starting to see it.

Power to the People

Thank you to all who have put pressure on them!!! This Revolution is on a roll!

This is hilarious.

Rasmussen poll now puts Ron Paul third with 14%. doesn't Fox look silly? Even if they tried to invite Ron Paul at the last minute, I would reject their offer! What a bunch of punks!

Has Fergus Cullen....

...publicly supported any particular candidate as of yet?

If not, the Ron Paul camp should consider recruiting him into our campaign.

He seems like he's a man of integrity..........no?

NOW you can write to Fergus!

Now I suggest everyone write (don't call because they are so busy) to Fergus and thank him for being a true Republican in the Live Free or Die spirit.

This can only make bad press for FOX.
This can only make good press for NH.
This is why we live here, we are different.
Many Paul supporters will be joining or coming back to the GOP because our org is NOT like RNC, or any other state.
Our state reps stand up for what's right and many vote 'the way of Paul' even if they aren't supporting him...many ARE supporting.

It's a great state, a place where you can make change, and we need you to move here. With the influx of people from Mass, they Dems have taken over for the first time in 80 years and they are raising taxes and trying to centralize education, so we need more troops here to fight this locally!

Come join us.

I am checking into a job

I am checking into a job transfer!
What is a good contact number to write Fergus?

this is great news

Thanks to the NH GOP for Doing the right thing, while under considerable pressure.

I think they waited

I think they waited a long time because they couldn't imagine that FOX would not back down...and really wanted to see this resolved in our favor, but if FOX hasn't budged and it's yet one day before the event, well I guess they had to make a decision.

if any of the other

if any of the other candidates had any balls they would boycott this thing too!

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐

How loyal to the GOP?

Whoever does not withdraw from this "roundtable" will show themselves to not be loyal to the GOP, which begs the question "Are they really a republican?" If they are unable to abide by the NH GOPs statement, then they show themselves as breaking away not only from the republican party, but also from the wishes of the people; for NH GOP would not be doing this if there wasn't a substantial outcry from their own members. This is a small battle win because it shows that not all political leaders are ready to jump on the "the people be damned" bandwagon.
