Maine GOP may count late caucus votes

If I was Ron Paul I would say...
"Send Charlie Webster a message for me - seems that the Ron Paul folks are going to control that state convention up there in Augusta... If Charles ever wants to work for the state party again he's going to count our votes this Saturday... if not he's going to have the privilege of losing his job and talking to our lawyers."
Lots of zeros reported

Waldo County missing votes as well
From a website in Belfast, Maine: Waldo County mostly missing from Maine GOP results

We are not here to stael a victory
It's now often that I read some comments about keeping secrets, not telling about delegates, what is that all about, is it because it's illegal?
Did Dr. Paul not mention that it's all about delegates in most of his interviews and also in debates, do you think that you know better than he does?
I think that those are valid questions, and I don't think that Dr. Paul wants to steal a victory but rather show that he is victorious because he has won the most delegates.
We have always said that it's a fact that Dr. Paul did win many of the stats that did vote, and that's true, especially when you look at the votes numbers that did double in count or even more than doubled compared to 2008, so why are trying to keep that Dr. Paul is winning by not talking about it, why keep it secret that Dr. Paul did collect many delegates? How is it possible for a new Ron Paul supporter to know that it's not over by casting a vote but the supporter needs to help choosing delegates by stepping up as a delegate or voting for a Dr. Paul delegate?
How is it that we can say that Dr. Paul did win when that is not reflected by getting delegates?
I'm sorry guys, but you are confusing a presidential election with a GOP race, please wake up and see the real numbers and how it's done.
You know that every action has a re-action that is equal in size and opposite in direction, this is plain physics that does not need to explain, and every time I see a post or a comment that says "I'm quiting" "that's enough" then I'm assured that Dr. Paul is gaining ground. Yes, members of other camps do post these posts and comments here to demoralize Dr. Paul supporters, but a committed Ron Paul supporter that believes as Dr. Paul does will help inform others and new Ron Paul supporters on how it's done and will be more than happy to tell that if you are a true Ron Paul supporter then you need to vote for Ron Paul, and stay to be a delegate for Ron Paul or help voting for a Ron Paul delegate.
Thank you all for reading
Well then let's "compromise" their website!
http://mittromneycentral.com/
They have an open chat room on the main page that anyone can post to without even having to create an account. You don't have to declare you are a supporter of Romney or anything. You could just sit there and read, or post if you want. Right now they are very nervous about losing Michigan. It seems they think if Michigan goes for the Frothy one then he may also run the table on super Tuesday. They were also posting about Romney possibly giving RP the VP spot. It was mixed, most said they liked him but that it wouldn't happen. Anyway, it's a public website if you're interested in seeing what they Romney people are talking about.
I got banned after one comment...
I told them that Mitt did not win, that Goldman Sachs won Maine for Mitt. Then I couldn't post anymore. SILENCE THE OPPOSITION! Haha Obamney supporters can't handle the truth.
Furthermore,
Excellent!

You go bro!!

Ya know...
I lurked for a while and watched what they were talking about. After a few minutes I posted a couple neutral or objective posts/questions. After about 15 minutes in there, at an appropriate time I fessed up to liking Ron Paul. They said at least I am honest. Then I did NOT ram our talking points down their chat hole. I was respectful and reserved. Some people would ask me questions or say the things we always here about liking him but not his foreign policy. I took that opportunity to tell them that I was EXACTLY like them in 2008, but listened more to Dr. P's message on the spending, federal reserve, gold standard, Constitution, states rights, etc. and eventually came to understand his foreign policy as well. We can be polite and respectful to supporters of other candidates and still support someone else. There were about 4 or 5 other RP people there as well, some a little more vocal about their positions. But overall the Romney people tolerated having the Ron Paul people pay them a visit. If you do post over there, they have it set up so that if you type "Ron Paul" it uses a macro to convert it to "Captain America", so if you don't want to be outed as a "Paulite troll" don't type "Ron Paul". I believe based on how many friendly goodbyes I got that even if we didn't get any converts today, we at least made a respectable impression. I think there may be some Romney supporters that aren't 100% convinced just yet, even on his chat thing. I think some would agree more with RP on a lot of things, but either have themselves convinced he doesn't WANT to be president, or he's going to get us killed because of his foreign policy....and they call us crazy!
Playing with Maine data
I spent some time regarding Maine caucus results as displayed by Maine GOP (official results) at
http://www.mainegop.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/me_gop_ca...
and at the page of WatchTheVote2012
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?authkey=CKT21ZkH&hl=e...
The official document (me_gop_caucus_results.pdf) is a PDF file generated by MS Office Excell 2007 at 2/11/2012 6:54:10PM as you can see in the PDF file properties.
What I found:
Discrepancies between GOP and WatchTheVote2012 data
1)WatchTheVote2012 considered all the data was counted in Androscoggin, Aroostook and Knox
However WatchTheVote2012 data doesn't correspond with GOP data
GOP Androscoggin R(148) P(122) S(132) G(12) 0(0) Total(504)
WtV Androscoggin R(173) P(262) S(188) G(13) 0(0) Total(636)
GOP Aroostook R(26) P(81) S(17) G(13) 0(0) Total(137)
WtV Aroostook R(26) P(81) S(13) G(17) 0(0) Total(137)
GOP Knox R(96) P(100) S(32) G(24) 0(0) Total(250)
WtV Knox R(96) P(98) S(32) G(24) 0(0) Total(252)
Notes:
1)Aroostook: Santorum and Gingrich are reversed in the considered documents
2)Knox: small diffs for Paul and Other
3)Androscoggin: major discrepancies comparing with GOP data
Row total wrong in the GOP document
Cumberland (Gorham) Wrong total (56) Right total (59) Diff(3)
Cumberland (S Portland) Wrong total (81) Right total (85) Diff(4)
Kennebec (Augusta) Wrong total (40) Right total (38) Diff(-2)
Knox (Camden) Wrong total (28) Right total (32) Diff(4)
Knox (Friendship) Wrong total (7) Right total (8) Diff(1)
Penobscot (Alton) Wrong total (0) Right total (3) Diff(3)
Penobscot (Bangor) Wrong total (0) Right total (77) Diff(77)
Penobscot (Dixmont) Wrong total (4) Right total (3) Diff(-1)
Penobscot (Newport) Wrong total (21) Right total (22) Diff(1)
Somerset (Cambridge) Wrong total (8) Right total (9) Diff(1)
York (Eliot) Wrong total (44) Right total (43) Diff(-1)
York (Kennebunk) Wrong total (45) Right total (47) Diff(2)
General total wrong. Total row and total column does not match.
Candidate totals: R(2190) P(1996) S(989) G(949 O(61)
Row total(5585)
Real Total column (5493) calculated with the existing total data as found in the GOP PDF
Wrong Total column (5585) I consider this wrong because the result of the total data as found in the GOP PDF is 5495 (see above). 5585 is the total corresponding to the corrected total column data(see errors above)
Diff (row total – total calculated with existing data in the total column of the GOP document 92)
Conclusions (IMHO):
The author of the document identified in document properties as “Registered User” generated the PDF file starting with the Excel spreadsheet used to tabulate the straw poll data. Just a reminder, the totals are automatically generated using Excel simple formulas defined on columns or rows and can be declared easily even by a low skill user.
There are 3 possibilities if the totals in the PDF file does not match the displayed data.
1)somebody modified the PDF file.
While the modified date it's the same as the created date and the file producer is Excel 2007 not another PDF (see file properties), I have to exclude this possibility.
2)Somebody manually calculated the totals and made some honest mistakes.
Cannot be true. However there is a chance that the “Registered User” has a masochistic personality or the “Registered User” tried to do a job for which does not have any basic knowledge.
3)For X reasons, somebody made several tries to arrange the original data and overwrite inadvertently the formula field with some numbers disconnected from the modified data. (see above data). Too many occurrences of this kind of errors to be just a simple, honest mistake.
Wait a minute. Androscoggin
Wait a minute. Androscoggin alone was miscalculated for 140 votes? So, we (almost) don't need Washington County at all?!?!
That's a typo in his post.
That's a typo in his post. The official Maine GOP document says 212 for Paul in Androscoggin. Watch the Vote has Paul 99 votes ahead of Romney in the county. GOP has Paul 64 votes ahead. If the WtV numbers are correct, we can place Paul 35 votes closer to Romney in that county alone.
Good advice
Yes it has been compromised by spies and we must be careful. My experience here so far says that yes it has been compromised by spies but it aint like RPFs where the spies actually own it and run it.

Agreed, deep strategizing..
I agree, people need to do deep strategizing, such as delegate selection strategy, during Ron Paul meetup groups WITH ONLY PEOPLE YOU KNOW!
There's no real benefit to discussing local election strategy on a worldwide public forum anyway.
For Washington we need to
For Washington we need to create a "I voted for Paul" table. Give them stickers or something as a way to track how many votes he received. Also, Count the number of people voting. I wish I lived in Maine. Is there a website I can check out online dealing with the organization for this?
It's about aesthetics, Paul atleast needs to win a state, the maine gop know this and will do everything in their power not to allow it.
Why no news story about this?
Haven't heard any news stories about Maine being an unfinished contest. But I do hear that Mitt Romney won again. I see a real need for Dr. Paul's campaign to push this story.
Mitt gains false momentum with this.
(frustrated)
Could Ron Paul Still Win Maine?
http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/12/could-ro...
If Romney wins the remaining counties in ME, then it's moot to add the votes to the grand total but if Ron Paul wins and overcomes Romney's lead, then the GOP will be disenfranchising Ron Paul voters if they do not count them with the grand total. There will be blood!
I'm sure that the Ron Paul camp will take this to court and fight for people's right to have their votes counted.
Non-binding Straw Poll
Don't be too excited everyone! This is a NON-BINDING straw poll! The numbers doesn't really matter!!!
What matters is how many delegates Ron Paul supporters put in on the day of the caucuses. How many of Ron Paul delegates are going to District and State Convention. May 5th is the important date, that's when all the real delegates to the National Convention will be selected.
we need a popular vote win
if ron paul really wins the popular vote in Maine after all the romney hoopla.... IT IS BIG NEWS and great ammo for the ron paul army (and it'll at least make drudge report)
msm is starting to paint ron paul as a cheater for abusing the delegate system.
It's also the idea of winning
It's also the idea of winning which is important. Winning delegates and if it happens to be, winning the regular votes.
yes but it was a non binding
yes but it was a non binding preference straw poll among those elected delegates at the local level. Meanwhile the news is reporting a huge romney double win, and ron Paul still has yet to win a state.

Tell That To Ron Paul and The Hundreds Of Maine Voters...
none bind this!
Ron Paul can win
regardless of the straw poll numbers. As long as he has gained enough delegates to the district and state convention, then they can dictate the number of national delegates send from Maine. That's the key.
Lesser of two Evils
You know the Mitt RobMe supporters are concerned about the RP people not backing him if he gets the nomination, I'll just go ahead and say it right now, I will not vote for the lesser of two evils, they can enjoy four more years of Bammy as far as that's concerned!
Keep counting you GOP-RNC rotted rats.
Revision: Rotted THIEVING rats.

I still haven't seen any results posted...
from last Saturday's caucuses which supposedly put Romney over the top. Going into Saturday, Ron had a 43% to 33% lead over Romney with the precincts which had already reported. Everyone's talking about Washington County, which is critical, but where's the evidence that Romney actually won the votes which were counted? I haven't seen any. Is it posted somewhere? Seems to me the Maine GOP could have just made up whatever numbers they wanted.
