What am I missing here?

Does he mean that a man may not make a good decision when in a firefight because his emotions may affect his actions? I would think that as a man, that I would care about all of the members of my unit equally. Gay, straight, Male or female!
And then he goes on to say he is just like Obama on this issue! WHAT?

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

How would Santorum know one way or the other?

He hasn't even worn a military uniform, so how would he know what it is like to be in combat? Talk about stereotyping.

Amazing

Wolf does NOT seem happy with Ricky. That interview was typical of what Wolf used to do with Dr Paul, USED TO being the key words. Recently his comments about and interviews with Dr Paul seem to be very respectful but we all know that that could change in a heartbeat. The more confident Santorum gets the more he will "open mouth and insert foot". Santorum reminds me of the son of a friend of mine that actually told me that men in the family were the leaders and the wives and children should listen to what they say. This YOUNG man is a youth minister. Scary and this is how Santorum appears to be in my mind. Warmonger, Anti-Libertarian, no privacy in your bedroom and now, women are weak and they should stand back and let the men protect them. The more confident he gets, the more his arrogance and radical positions will appear. When people really listen to him they will realize how dangerous his positions are. Exerpts of comments that he has made would make a great ad for Ron Paul.

He is an ASS!

I can't even stand to listen to the man speak. We should only allow tough guys like him in the military. I hope this is picked up by more of the MSM and and costs him the votes from all of the fragile women out there.

Not to mention him trying to speak for combat vets.

This chickenhawk knows how to alienate everyone but the corrupt.

So I just had to add this...

For those of you that can't fathom the idea of any woman being as tough/capable/whatever as a man in order to volunteer to fight in combat... what are your thoughts on transgender individuals? I.E. if an All American Fighting Man has actually felt like a woman his entire life and gets the surgery done... what do you do with her now?

She's just as strong/tough/skilled as she was when she was a man but now she has a vagina and breasts. Are we now going to make the argument that her new breasts just aren't as aerodynamic and somehow that will slow her down on the front lines? Cause you can't even make the "menstruation means you can't fight" argument here as her new vagina would be a blind ended canal w/o a uterus.

And what about the woman who no longer menstruates cause she's so buff and works out all the time (yes, that does happen)? Why can't she fight if she wants to? Is it really her non-fighting-capable vagina that will somehow make her less useful?

Waiting

I was waiting for him to mention PMS lol I would have given anything to hear those words come out of his mouth. Is that what he meant by emotions? Every husband in this country knows to NEVER mention PMS.

What's with the video

What's with the video playing in the background where Rick is being filmed? Anyone else see that?

CHECK OUT MY VIDEO! The views stopped overnight when for 'copyright' reasons, mobile viewing was disabled. I want to get to 8,000 - HELP by watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-pTvjzHN3I

I noticed that

Very distracting....at first I thought it was about war. Could have been reconstruction after blowing up buildings in other countries. Neocons love to do that and their buddies make lots and lots of money rebuilding.

Oh boy, Rick is still very

Oh boy, Rick is still very much in that phase where 'girls are stupid' and he doesn't want to play with them, isn't he?
When he gets to the White House, first thing he's gonna do is put up his 'no gurls alowwed!' signs everywhere.

Maybe he'll drop out of the race if Ron promises to build him a nice treehouse in the White House garden?

men or women...what kind of

men or women...what kind of person just simply goes and kill other people for $5000 a month? Must be a real screw up woman to simply desire to go and kill, not that a man doing the killing would be something normal.

Douchebag comment

I've been in for 12 years and my base pay isn't $5000 a month.

God what a joke !!

It's 2012, the words "War, Frontlines, Collateral damage" ought to be things of the past. Anyone who doesn't realize these so called wars aren't being manipulated by greedy corporate interests need to pull their heads out of their backsides.

Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow

I cannot tolerate Rick Santorum!!!

He is THEEE iodiot of all current idiots. He is the second-coming of Dan Quayle. How ANYONE can support that utter FOOL is beyond my comprehansion!
Okay....on the topic of women in the military. I disagree with the idea that women should not be on the front line. I strongly believe it is a matter of personal choice and women should have an equal right to consider that option if they can pass certain test that would render them qualified. One of my best friends named Nancy was in the military. She was not engaged in a war during her time of service, but she was one excellent example of a women who was strong, was smart, and could physically whoop ass on any man MUCH bigger than she. I am NOT stretching the story. The point is, not all women are dainty feminine people who are TOO vulnerable for combat. Really, it comes down to the individual. I am a man who believes in treating a woman like a lady, with dignity and respect. But yes, many women just happen to be military-able and capable. I support the idea of women being in the military if that is what a woman prefers and she can pass the rigorous tests that would prove her abilities.

Robby Lane

Why should women be on any frontline ?

For that matter why should ANYONE BE ON A FRONTLINE killing others for THEIR resources. What happened to making business deals AND BUYING what you want, guess if the oil corps have control of the military they can just kill as many foreigners as is necessary to steal those resources ? After all that is what this is all about isn't it ?

Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow

The real reason

The military thinks the frontline soldiers would incur more casualties by trying to protect the women during combat. Less likely to leave an injured or dead woman behind in order to press the enemy line back.

I have seen this one in person

Wow.. He really went after

Wow.. He really went after him. Wolf has always seemed pretty objective to me but this was definitely an attack. Rick's injection of the Zionist army must have touched a nerve.

The establishment is afraid of Santorum because he is naive. The other candidates realize that our support for Israel is purely political. This is why religious conservatives have a hard time IMO.

What a baffling interview.

What a baffling interview. He was speaking in gobble-d-gook most of the time. I kept thinking "WTF is he talking about". The only things he said intelligible were when he opened mouth and shoved in feet.

RON PAUL 2012 * Restore America * Bring The Troops Home

I'm a veteran of the first Gulf War...

...and I say NO WOMEN in combat situations, or on combatant vessels.

I know we've already passed that point, but I believe it to be a mistake.

I was nuclear trained electrician on a ballistic missile sub. We had no women on board at the time, but I saw results of putting men and women together on a submarine tender.

Not good.

It wasn't a big deal because it was a sub tender... instead of an actual combatant vessel... but having young men and women serving together that close definitely caused some distractions that I wouldn't want in a combat situation.

It has nothing to do with women being weaker or less suited for combat... but has more to do with the distraction of the love/lust interest that inevitably crops up.

I'm not so much against gays in the military, mainly because I just don't think there would be as much of that kind of thing going on, but if you put a few women in a situation where there are a lot of heterosexual males around... well... you're going to have problems.

I speak from experience. I'm not trying to belittle women or anything... or men... it's just women are a BIG distraction to young men... and vice versa.

This is the military... not a job. The military has one purpose, and that purpose is not best performed with a homogenous group of people. At least not in combat.

Just my 2 cents.

Look, Santorum's not talking

about firing women currently serving. He's merely talking about keeping the status quo in the military. Some forms of status quo are good and this is one of them. Besides, if you were to take a poll of women in the military, I'll bet you only a small minority would want to be put on the front lines. This isn't Switzerland and it isn't Israel. We're the third largest nation in the world. In other words, we're not so hard up for soldiers that we have to resort to women. Heaven forbid that day ever come.

Status quo is good?

Really? Former status quo in the military: Gays not welcome. Before that? Blacks not welcome.

I disagree strongly that because it's "status quo" we should just let it slide. Hell... you know what else is status quo? Empire building, war of aggression, fiat currency, welfare state... etc etc etc.

focus, people.

He is talking about the draft. The draft. The poster below is right. Every woman of military age will be eligible. God help the soldiers fighting next to my daughter who is in her twenties. They will die because she is unable to physically do the job. What about young mothers? This is a travesty. It's not the same as volunteering. NOT AT ALL!

I agree...

as sick as it makes me...on THIS I agree with Frothy.(somewhat)

There is a HUGE difference in "this is not formally recognized as policy" and "this is our policy".

Follow along with me a minute.
Right now, Women are in the military and doing a kick ass job..but..they chose to be there, for the most part chose their assignments..so if they are on the front lines in active duty then they are willing to be there.

However...if it becomes "standard policy" that women are on the front lines...then there will be no more "choice" in the matter. You'll be put where ever they want to put Solider 123456.

So think about this: A woman like Serena Williams or Hope Solo surely could be a fine Solider for the front lines..they are physically fit, enjoy having a toned muscular body and are both probably very intelligent women. Now think of Taylor Swift or Leanne Rimes...still physically fit women...still intelligent...but all together completely different.
When this Country gets in so many consecutive wars that we can no longer supply them with a "Voluntary Military" and we have to re-institute the draft and it is now policy that all women are expected to serve equally just as the men..do you really want your Son next to Taylor Swift?

And I don't say that as an insult to Swift..but you have to know your own limitations. Right now if your limits permit, YOU can CHOOSE but if the Military changes the policy there is no choice. (I myself even hate that all men got drafted because there are just as many men out there that I don't think had it in them to be Soldiers and they just died quickly) And that doesn't even take into account the "sex thing". Police Officers are not kept away from their significant others for months on end..so a male Police Office working alongside a female Police Officer would not be as distracting as a male Solider who has been away from home for months and now finds himself alongside of a female Solider who has been away from home just as long. ((c'mon, how many scary movies have you seen when the leads have sex just before they think they are going to die...lol))

Anyway..just my humble opinion.

I'm a realist first, and

I'm a realist first, and libertarian second. Libertarian should mean we are treated equally under the law, not that we are all equal in abilities. Women and men are different, period, and have entirely different evolutionary and reproductive goals.

My 19 yr old cousin was sent to Afghanistan for his first tour last week. He brought this up without my prompting and was outspoken about how women shouldn't be on the front lines and how he would be uncomfortable serving side by side with them. Having girls around young men who haven't been laid in 9 months is just a recipe for conflict and drama. The troops will start caring more about sex than fulfilling the mission. Let's get real.

If the army were run in a free market the people in charge would realize having women and men on the front lines together would not be the optimal productive output because of the male pursuit and preoccupation with sex, and the disruption in camaraderie it would cause. But since it's the government they might very well not be able to discriminate in this case even though it is common sense.

UUUUUGGGGGHHHHH.....

That is the same bullcrap argument used by the Right to keep gays from openly serving in the military.

What would you do about a super strong, incredibly skilled Spec Ops guy that then underwent gender reassignment surgery? Uh oh. Now what? You've got the same super strong badass person... only now SHE isn't going to be allowed to serve? Cause she has a vagina and breasts? Is that really logical?

Boom.
