You know...
This is what establishment has been doing for years! How is it that when you use the system in accordance with their rules, that you are doing wrong? It's obscene.
I find Maddow offensive...

I was skeptical when he first
I was skeptical when he first came on board the campaign, but make no mistake about it: Doug Wead is The Man.
She's providing Mis-information
She made it sound like that Ron Paul supporters are "stealing" the votes against the wishes of precinct voters. She said that the delegates can just ignore the wishes of those voters and support Ron Paul. But she did NOT mention that it is a NON-BINDING straw poll in MN and in CO, the actual process of selecting delegates for a particular candidate doesn't start till the District Conventions and State Conventions. Leaving out these important details makes Ron Paul supporters sounds like thieves, trying to steal votes!
why share
the strategy? Why does Doug and the others on the campaign (including RP) talk about what they are doing to compete? If all the other candidates are too dense to figure it out, why give them a tip?
He didn't give anything away...
And it reminds people that RP is still a contender. There is no secret to the delegate mechanism.
There is a distinction between what Doug is talking about, and what some folks on here talk about. The "secret" delegate strategy is garbage and pure blind hope. That entails getting enough Ron Paul people elected as delegates in Primary/Hard states so that when they become unbound, they will vote for Ron Paul regardless of who their state chose.
Doug is talking about delegate process in caucus and soft states. All camps already know how this works, they are working the same way we are. They only emphasize the straw polls because that's where they are showing a win.
No secrets given away, it is simply a reminder to us, and everyone else, that we are still in it until the end.

The GOP along with the
The GOP along with the national media is rigging the vote. If they arnt careful we are going to gather enough evidence for solid vote fraud. WE ARE WATCHING YOU GOP, DONT SLIP UP!
They\ve rigged the strawpolls
but they can't rig the delegates.. There are minimal supporters of the status quo candidates, they are either dead, and unaware that they are voting for the traitors.. Do we believe the results in Nevada? There is an awaking occuring, and I'm certain Ron Paul is leading.. Are we going to have dead people becoming delegates? Ron Paul will more than likely win, but will the puppetmasters attack Iran beforehand, and cancel the election that will take their power away? We will see.
Non brainwashed Americans will have to rise, for all the work the good Doctor has done to wake us up..
In my books, Ron Paul will go down in the History books, as one of the greatest Americans, of all time...
If this will be the 2 man race most except...
we are damn close to that Romney guy, and a few voices.
For me good news, and GOP picked one little moment in the causas where romney is leading and sell that "snapshot" as a win...
For me that "momentum" story is what ? Santorum, BIG momentum, and now ? Newt BIG Momentum after SC and in Florida ?
Exploit the loopholes in the system
Ain't that America? Loopholes were MADE to be utilized by the people smart enough to find them. Don't like loopholes? Don't make them part of your own rules.
This is EXACTLY what happened
This is EXACTLY what happened in my precinct here in Colorado. Rick Santorum won the straw poll vote, but me and the other Ron Paul supporter became delegates and even wrote pledged for Ron Paul right on the paper.. no one had a clue. I hope to see lots of Ron Paul supporters at the county convention so we can send as many as possible to the state convention.
So
the goal is to get the fed audited? Is that all? And a promise from Romney and a plank in the platform will satisfy that demand?

i would also like to see
i would also like to see (whether it be primary or caucus) all votes be counted publicly, with a member from each campaign present on stage, and only paper ballots... no relocations etc.
That's up to your local party
As Doug explained in this video, the local party has immense power to pretty much run itself how it chooses and to make its own rules ahead of each election cycle about how/when/where the process will work. If you want greater transparency, keep working with/co-opting your local party to get it.
The GOP hasn't realized it yet, and a lot of us haven't really grasped it yet either, but it's not the establishment's party anymore, it's OUR party. The old version of the GOP is like a chicken without a head: it's running around in circles because it hasn't quite figured out it's dead yet.

I Thought She Was Fair And Polite To Doug Wead
And for whatever reason, it's obvious he and the campaign wanted this story broken.
I noted his mentioning "verbal memos" ordering no delegates under age 40 or calling for moving the location where delegates are selected, in an effort to escape Paul supporters. Those are not allegations of foul play from "crazy Paulbots." Those allegations are coming directly from the campaign itself.
Commerce with all nations, alliance with none.--Thomas Jefferson
Don't hate the player, hate the game, Maddow
Yeah we're so nasty by following the rules written by the GOP elite and trying to jump through the hoops they have set up. How dare us.
I also like how she applies ZERO skepticism whatsoever to the "official" results in every single state. This doesn't mean that she has to say yes there absolutely was fraud, necessarily (depending on the state), but anyone who is just blindly accepting all of these results as legitimate without question is either naive or disingenuous.
I honestly suspect she's uninformed
The talking heads don't talk about delegates for two reasons, as far as I can see:
1. The heads don't understand how our complex national election system works and so they can't talk about it.
2. Their masters in the establishment spent years dumbing us down about how our system works so they could take advantage of us at every turn, so it's not in their interest for the heads to discuss such "arcane" political realities (i.e., that we are a REPUBLIC) and so the heads can't talk about it.
"Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition." -- Thomas Jefferson
my guess
is the campaign needs to keep us motivated and turning out. We will keep doing our jobs if we think or know we are winning or in the hunt.
Perseverance !!
Agreed.If people don't think
Agreed. If people don't think he can win they won't show up and then there is no way he can win. Polls probably exacerbate the problem because they are polling people who say they'll vote but really never show up, then Paul supporters get discouraged and don't go. I wonder if something like that may have happened in Nevada. Momentum is very important. If more people knew about how well Paul was doing when it comes to winning delegates he would very likely do even better. More stories like this might help.
+1
We have to keep getting out, even in primary states like my home state of VA, which they handed to Romney months ago with the infamous 10,000 signature petition requirement to get on the ballot.
We also need to remember, once RP is the nominee, we will still have to be going door to door to convince Independents and Blue Republicans to vote for RP. Stay in practice, get to know the faces in your precinct (I became the defacto captain in my precinct yesterday by virtue of the fact that nobody else showed up to canvass it!) and let them get to know yours. It may be that you were the only one who stopped to campaign BEFORE the primary/caucus and cared enough to talk about your candidate. That means something to some folks.
Keep the faith, guys! Showing up has gotten us this far, and now is no time to quit!

maddow
Maddow is such a fucking idiot, she is basically implying that ron paul and his campaign are evil, but he is just trying to win based on the rules of the system
She is implying that the he is somehow responsible for the evil system's rules and therefore is evil. I wish someone would remove her from reality
I'm pretty sure
She IS removed from reality...she's on MSNBC.
Why tell the strategy?
What I don't understand is, why advertise the strategy? It seems to me that Gingrich, Santorum and Romney's people will now stay and become delegates. Am I missing something?
Well, this way, at least
nobody can complain "but, we didn't know...you cheated!" If you advertise how the system works, and how you're going to use that system, it's fair game for anyone to do it. Problem is, most supporters of other candidates (as we all have seen) ONLY believe what the talking magic box tells them. So, when they see so-and-so "won" this state's Caucus, that's all they think they need to do.
They're in for a rude awakening in Tampa. (And that is what I fear without us winning some states' popular votes. I fear the revolution will be coming for our heads for "cheating" the system.)
I'm confused too. What should
I'm confused too. What should RPers do now?
Well, my recommendation is to the RP delegate:
1) In bound delegate vote rounds, vote for who you're bound to.
2) Nonbound rounds IF you're questioned before voting, say any name but Ron's name. Safe bet would be the name of who's in first place or the establishment runner-up. When the time comes to vote, you lay down the law, you vote your conscience, you vote Ron Paul. If for whatever reason you're made to write down who you'll vote for before you cast your vote, it is time for you to:
a. get that person's name, title/position, date and time of day, evidence this request by him/her was made, whether that evidence is written, audio (place that small digital recorder you use or used to record lectures in school in your pocket and put it on its highest quality of recording), video or witnesses and their contact info;
b. notify the campaign;
c. then consider contacting the Judge and other media allies.

I've been having the same thoughts. Regardless, THIS is what we need to focus our attention on! In times where we feel discouraged due to results we're not expecting, we need to FOCUS. ON. THIS.

Pass it on.
Doug
had to have one little addition.
Something like this, given media bias against Ron Paul with evidences around us (it should be easy to make a compilation to back such a statement), and with fishy procedures for the popular voting (chairs of Iowa and Nevada GOPs resigned, caucuses in Maine were not counted, thousands of dead people voting in New Hampshire and South Carolina), the popular vote does not have that much of a credibility anymore.
Campaign and Ron Paul ought to say this!
Maine would have been a moral victory...however
We still have much work to do and this needs to embolden all of us !
I for one am taking every opportunity to get out message out even in areas where "republicans" would not consider to campaign.
We must take out message everywhere and leave no stone unturned.
I know this is our time to shine and we have the message.

Why is this story at the top of the page again? I read this yesterday. It was a very good interview, I agree, but it is an older story than the Maine results.
