Brunswick Maine, and how we snuck a Win!
Submitted by RINO Hunter on Sat, 02/11/2012 - 11:14Brunswick Maine, and how we snuck a Win!
Vote Totals:
Newt: 1
Perry:1
Ron Paul 24
Rick Santorum 28
Mittens: 50
But I said we won,so how can that be?
Now on to the delegates.
We were allotted 39, only 25 people volunteered. Vote for delegate chair was 11 for Ron Paul, 10 for someone else. Not sure what happened to the other 4
The Ron Paul supporting delegate chair gets to seat the other 14 delegates, so 11 + 14 = 25/39
That gives us more delegates than votes, assuming we can quickly find another 14 volunteers.

2008 Results: Mittens: 49
2008 Results:
Mittens: 49 (so he got one more vote this time)
McCain: 22 (frothy got 28 this time)
Paul: 10 (Paul got 24 this time)
santorum got more votes in maine than RP???
by your tally, ricky came in second. i'm speechless.
I'd do it in a second
but I'm in Texas and that's one hell of a drive.

What county is Brunswick in?
Cumberland? Is it Romney country?
Yes it is in cumberland
Just looked that up. Cumberland is Romney's best county. So if we keep it close here then we should be fine. He dominated this county last time but the results from Brunswick are very good considering this is cumberland county
Thanks
If it was north country I'd be concerned.
Mittens dominated the
Mittens dominated the vote.
Just not the delegates ;)
TRUE
I still think we NEED this win though. I know its a glorified staw poll but...We are about to go into the primary states so we need to get used to winning the vote as well. But yes I am happy to see us dominate the delegate count in these caucuses
This is how the delegate selection process went
This is how the delegate selection process went.
When you were handed a ballot, you were handed a slip to fill out your name and info for local Republican records. Below was a box you could check if you wished to be a delegate.
After the vote, the chair asked everyone that asked to be a delegate to come forward. Since there were more spots than potential delegates, everyone that asked got to be one.
The delegates then voted for a delegate chair, and that was the only vote that counted.
Nice!

I wish there was a way we could promote becoming delegates
without showing our hand though. I am not quite sure how that would be done. Awesome job though, keep up the great work!!!!

Keep it up Mainiacs!
The campaign and the many volunteers have been doing the job of "promoting" or encouraging supporters to become delegates.
Key info in this post is that a Ron Paul supporter got the Delegate Chair position, and can add-in Ron Paul people to take those remaining delegate slots.
Also alternates now are appointed, so if any of the opponents delegates don't show, there'll be a Ron Paul supporter to take their place.
These look like great results!
Keep it up all you Mainiacs!
