Maine: Washington County Postponed A Week!
Submitted by Xatos on Sat, 02/11/2012 - 12:25Though the winner will be declared today, Washington County will hold it's caucuses a week from now. Make sure all you Paulites in Washington County show up to vote next Saturday!
EAST MACHIAS, Maine -- The Republican caucus in eastern Maine has been postponed because of bad weather.
The Washington County caucus was originally scheduled to take place Saturday at Washington Academy in East Machias. But organizers have pushed back the caucus to next Saturday after the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning, which calls for six to 10 inches of snow and hazardous driving conditions.
Republicans are gathering at other caucuses around Maine on Saturday to make their choice for the GOP nominee for the presidential election. Mitt Romney and Ron Paul are considered to be the front-runners.
Party officials planned to declare a winner Saturday evening, even with more caucuses scheduled for the coming week.

Here is the Maine GOP chairman's contact info for those of you who wish to express your opinions to him over his decision to not include the later caucus votes in the straw poll:

Now perhaps many Romney supporters will end up staying home instead of attending these later caucuses, assuming there's no point to attending since he'd already 'won', all while we'd be gaining delegates in these caucuses
According to this they will
According to this they will not factor any other results in after today. Not matter how close they ended it and it won't matter who gets the others to the media. So even if we won in reality the MSM will be saying it was Mitt.

So in other words the other 17% won't affect the outcome. How nice right, now we know why that one county moved it's caucus. I wonder if there were a lot of Ron Paul supporters there.

Well it had a college town
Well it had a college town there. The county seat has a population where undergrads are around 30-40% of the population, I assume they represent an even larger portion of the voting eligible population. I don't know if Ron Paul had a higher amount of supporters there, but I keep hearing these rumors that Paul tends to get the youth vote. But who knows, I'm sure it was merely a coincidence that caucusing there was delayed a week.

I'm sorry but I just don't
I'm sorry but I just don't understand how a "winner" can be declared when not all the counties have even voted. Jeeesh am I THAT dumb or what?
Is it blatant misinformation? ( announcing a winner today ) or what?

It's not
because the only thing they missed out on participating in was a straw poll. The votes that were cast don't matter.
