Very good news out of Iowa. AJ Spiker to replace Matt Strawn as RPIowa Chairman.

"Spiker was one of the co-chairs for Ron paul's Iowa campaign and he almost certainly already has the support of other Paul backers Drew...."

Does someone actually know AJ Spiker and can vouch for him?

I find these statements from the article troubling:

“Governor Branstad is a tremendous asset we have as a party and a great closer and I will use him to seal the deal when we need him…”

“I have worked with several staffs politically over the years and we have a phenomenal staff here… The last thing I would want to see is to have a new staff …. ”

The governor stated that Ron Paul should be dismissed and ignored and Mr. Spiker is praising him? Is this just sweet talk to butter him up? And he wants no change up in staff? Is this a good thing or bad? Can anyone with knowledge on this explain or reassure us?

maybe "troubling" isn't the right word, yet...

The second of the 2 problems you cite to me is no problem but rather at the very least traditional for anyone coming in with an existing staff.

Remember, the guy must appeal to all Republicans and he doesn't want to make enemies by firing staff people right off the bat.

Those people tend to have the best contacts throughout the party, they are friends with many active party people, including with Ron Paul supporters.

Generally, an incoming chair wouldn't just fire everyone and install his own...that's more often than not a recipe for a very short stay in the position of Chair.

As for supporting the Iowa Governor, I understand and share your reservations...however, it's not like he called him a god or anything.

See how it plays out.

For me, it's enough to know that active Ron Paul people in that state supported the man for Chair.

For now, anyway, that's good enough for me.

If you are the state party chair

It goes without saying you support all party officeholders in public. Where he can be an asset is in making sure Paul is treated fairly during the convention process.

You're over thinking

Part of being a human is saying nice things (sometimes, when you don't want to).

Part of politics is saying nice things (sometimes, when you don't want to).

My God's not dead; he's surely alive. And he's living on the inside roaring like a lion.

Yeah! Purge! Purge! Purge! Purge the Sewage!

Starting with one RINO GOP chairman at a time!

We ARE the Republican party now.o)

This is how it starts...

At the STATE levels!

How does this help?

Just asking

freedumb is not free!

When the conventions are held

When the conventions are held later, they will be presided over by friendly leaders that should not be involved in any underhanded shenanigans against Paul supporters! IMHO.

Helps a lot!!

The Chairman carries a lot of weight. He will see that the delegation process is on the up and up. In Iowa they have not chosen any delegates at the State level. I would take a Paul supporter any day over a Neocon at this stage in of the process in Iowa.

Go Liberty!!
