How I Scraped Together $207.43 for the Feburary 14th Moneybomb

Let me just say this first, I am self employed and run my own business. I have 2 contractors who work for me that make substantially more then I do. So anything that I can do to find ways to make additional money for the RP campaign is not just precious time from something else, but I see it as an act of self determination. Sort of the gutsy stuff that makes us all American.

I have a place in Sugarland Texas, not far from highway 6 & state highway 59 - if you care to look on a map. My place is small yet comfortable with enough space for all the goodies that help keep me independent.

So what I have done is gone out on my own and started Operation Wooden Pallet & Operation Discarded Wire.

With Operation Wooden Pallet, what I have done on Saturdays is go around the shopping centers, Walmart, Target, moving companies, and outlet malls and see if the distribution manager would mind if I picked up the wooden pallets for them. They are almost always happy to see you take them. They use these pallets to stack product with a forklift. When the product is unloaded the pallet usually just sits there unused! Thats where I come in. I take those unused pallets for free (the ones not broken or damaged), and bring them back to distribution centers for 2 dollars each. New they cost $15-$20 bucks each. So a company who uses wooden pallets saves a ton of money. It's an easy sell.

Everyone wins doing this. The docks are cleaner for stores looking for additional storage space, the buyer gets the best wooden pallets for a fraction of the price, and you have money to donate to the Ron Paul camp. All you have to do - is do it.

Operation Discarded Wire works very similar. Here in town we have a ton of cable contractors, Dish installers, alarm companies, and low voltage technicians. We also have several businesses in town here, and I am sure that they exist all over the country, that will pay you for your wiring. Nearly all of the wiring used today contains copper. They take the wiring and strip it, melt it, and resell the metal for a profit. If you take a big load over to a metal recycler, you can get a nice chuck of cash for it.

I've done this several times for both the pallets and the wiring. After a few weekends I had over $260. Subtract the gas and wala!
