California has 172 Delegates, Mainly Allocated by Cong District

California has 172 Delegates, mainly allocated by Congressional District

http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P12/CA-R#0605

159 Delegates are allocated with the winners of each of the 53 Congressional districts. Each Congressional district is worth 3 delegates. (ie. If Ron Paul wins your district, he gets 3 delegates.)

10 At-Large Delegates are bound by the popular vote of the State.

The Official campaign has to choose 3 delegates and 3 alternate delegates in each district. Not sure when this deadline is.

That's how I read it.

Louisiana

has a pretty good shot. 45 delegates at stake. 20 decided in the primary and 25 in the caucus. That's how I understand it.

Just Updated Info About Idaho

Closed Caucus but can register as a Republican at the polls.

Texas date is still

Texas date is still undecided, they will likely move it past the proportional deadline and make Texas winner take all.

California

California changed it's rules after last primary. I double checked right before I registered republican.

Blue Republican

Don't forget about New York

Don't forget about New York and their 154 delegates...I can honestly see Ron Paul winning Texes, California and New York.

About NY

It's a closed primary with 92 bound delegates on April 24th. Registration to change parties to current voters was in October. However, if you moved to NY or a new voter you can register up to 25 days of the primary as a Republican.

Which of these states besides

Which of these states besides Washington and California do we have a decent shot at?

I think TX

I'm in Dallas and see tons of stickers, but in the early polling he was doing well. Killing Perry when he was still in it, he may have been first but I can't remember and am about to go out so don't have the time to look it up. The April 3rd primary will likely change because they still haven't really locked in the redistricting. I'm in Richardson and would like to try and be a delegate, although my work schedule is crazy during the summer. Is it possible to still be one? Any information or a link to where I can find TX delegate info would help...I think if we play TX right a 1st or 2nd could happen, newt is pretty hated down here and in the metro areas it's not nearly as "evangelical" as people think. I think we could def get 50-75 delegates here if we play ball.

Unfortunately Texas will

Unfortunately Texas will likely swing to Rick Santorum if he somehow garners the christian vote. Seems Christians are attempting to coalesce around Rick, and they will likely vote as a block in Texas. We need Romney to dump millions into bringing Santorum DOWN!

Clearing up the Virginia Primary

Virginia has 49 (46 pledged, 3 unpledged) delegates and is proportional unless one candidate takes over 50% of the the total vote, in the case one candidate takes over 50% of the total vote it becomes a winner take all state. Meaning since there are only 2 candidates in Virginia it can go one of two ways, a tie where each candidate gets exact same number of votes(not very likely) they will split the delegates and the other scenario one candidate gets at least 1 vote more than the other they take all the delegates.

Virginia is not QUITE winner-take-all

13 of VA's delegates are state-wide, meaning (in the case of two candidates) they are winner-take-all. BUT each of VA's 11 congressional precints have 3 delegates of their own, to go to the winner of that precint. SOOOO, you get 3 delegates for every precint you win, plus 13 if you get over 50% state-wide.

11*3 + 13 = 46

So it's really winner-take-MOST, but the loser can still get some if he wins some precints. The other three delegates are top GOP officials. I applied to become a delegate-at-large. Wish me luck!

GOOD LUCK

From a fellow Virginian living in Portsmouth.

I thought Virginia was winner

I thought Virginia was winner take all? And I also thought California was based on who won each congressional district? Do you have a link to all this info?

The Link

My bad info on Virgina: Whoever gets more than 50 percent of vote its winner take all.
