What's Behind Ron Paul's Softness With Romney?

Ron Paul has never been one to mince words, or hide his disapproval.

Surely he knows that Mitt Romney is next in a long line of puppet U.S. Presidents who've been financed by Goldman Sachs, Wall-Street, and the Globalist, Imperialist, Bankster-War Establishment. Surely he knows that Romney opposes everything Ron Paul stands for and has fought for, and also that if Romney stands for anything...it would just be for the status-quo (corrupt), and whatever else his handlers tell him on a particular day.

So why after at various times running serious and effective attack-ads aimed at Gingrich, Perry, and Santorum, has he treated Mitt Romney differently....with kid gloves and politeness.

In the debates, he has really gone after the other candidates pretty hard (Santorum and Gingrich), but rarely says anything too negative about Romney. Why?

Meanwhile, Romney and his handlers have been stealing the GOP nomination right out from under Ron Paul, and have turned his very visible support and presence into muted (or disappeared) numbers on Election day.

So what's in this for Ron Paul? Why is he so polite to Romney?

Certaintly, there is no libertarian agenda items that you would ever trust to be actually delivered by the likes of Mitt Romney. Once in power, he'll just have an all Goldman Sachs Cabinet, and bring back someone like Dick Cheney to run the CIA. It's important for all Ron Paul supporters to demonstrate our true numbers and refuse as a block to back any GOP-Establishment candidates in 2012. We should vote 3rd-Party, or withhold our votes. At least Obama pretended to be for peace, and human rights, but Romney cannot even fake it.

Romney is just another groomed, congenial sounding crook. I'm not sure why Ron Paul doesn't take this guy down publically every chance that he gets.

"Love your Enemies"

Matthew 5:44 says: "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you".Ron Paul is clearly a man of deep religious conviction, and he has shown that throughout this campaign. He tries very hard to live his life according to scripture, and in my opinion, his treatment of all other candidates, and the way he runs his campaign;is proof of that. What I don't understand is why we don't have more of the evangelical vote;are they just not paying attention? Ron Paul has much to gain by not alienating Romney.I read yesterday, that Mrs.Paul and Ann get along quite well.Good for them.

Very simple answer

Mitt Romney is well-financed. Ron Paul is running a campaign that relies on small donations from all his countless, wonderful supporters. Ron Paul doesn't have the money to fight Romney, the media's respect of Romney, the Republican establishment and then to run his own campaign. He has to use his money for his own personal, positive, issues-based campaign and not to attack a well-financed candidate respected by the media and respected by the Republican establishment.

Just the facts, Ma'am

You can downvote my comment all you want, anonymous internet user, but running a campaign is hard work and the campaign managers must consider this aspect. Romney is well respected in all the national polls and he has always long been the chosen candidate to go on to the general election. The Republican voters don't like that his audience is the nation and not the party. They don't like that he is focusing on the general election and not the primary election. He has already won, because he has raised the most money. The consensus is there among the party establishment.

I do not think there is

I do not think there is anything much "behind" anything Ron says. He speaks his mind, period. I think he finds Willard to be the most polite and businesslike of the bunch. He always says they are polarized opposite on the issues, but he thinks he is a nice guy. He does not think the same about Getrich nor Sandy. That is it. There is nothing else to say about it. I do not know if he is even aware that Willard's company owns the media, and is "fixing" the GOP with his money. There is little subterfuge whatsoever, in what Ron says. The GOP does not get it, but they will, someday.

Who cares--RP Supporters either don't show up or don't count

votes.

Either way they put Ron Paul dead in the water.

I think he gave a hint ...

Didn't he say it we he gave that jibe to mitt, that he didn't have 10,000.00 for the bet.

its getting noticed by many and its going to have to go

showing up a day after Mitt in maine was a bad move and it cost them

This could be a Strategic ...

Decision. Let them get used to the Idea that this is a two man race. this has two advantages ...

1. One it creates a union for a two pronged attack on Santorum, Newt. While making them divide their time between them both. It also make them look like sore losers in the long run. It also put them on defense from two angles.

2. After both has taking out Newt, and Rick. It allows ron to bring all guns to bear on Romney. The anti Romney groups will see that Ron Paul has a great shot at taking out Romney and wilol join us for that purpose.

A union?

He is free to attack Newt and Satan-boy anyway without a "union".

But regardless, Moonbeam and Satan-boy (who has won 4 States) are not leaving the race, so a "union" is not helping, and not a strategy.

If Ron wants to prevent Romney from just running away with it, he has to act quickly. You can't wait until Romney has already won 40 States, and then start your best argument (Romney = no change).

I hope Ron Paul does not seriously think that he's going to really convert Mitt Romney. Romney can't be trusted.

I agree with you ...

that Mitt can't be trusted. his long history of flip-flopping has shown us that. As far as the strategy is concerned it was working for a while, but I think you may be right. It's time to start working on him.
