What If WE NEVER WIN but get more Delegates?
Submitted by fatlibertarian on Sat, 02/11/2012 - 22:10What if Ron Paul gets the most Delegates (Brokered Convention) yet does not WIN a single state?
I've gotta be honest - I'd find that uh.. odd.
Does anyone else find this delegate thing rather fascinating considering the importance the media keeps putting on "wins". It's almost as though WINS don't matter all. What matters is placing high enough to get delegates and THEN getting those seats. The Mainstream Media and the GOP at large is creating a mess for itself if it does not explain this to people!
I suppose the real question is; Given the 4-way race we have now, why is the media making such a big deal about WHO COMES IN FIRST? From what the Paul campaign is saying - it almost does not matter. You want a good showing - enough to get delegates and then move on.
I only want a WIN for outside impression I guess? Strange situation we're in. My head just exploded.

Passion and Support
The reason nominees are chosen by delegates rather than casual voters is that it makes a better measure of passion and support. Delegates are given this responsibility because they have demonstrated a willingness to make the extra effort to be informed about the candidates, usually meeting with them in person.
Delegates make the rules and it makes sense that they want to invite the public to participate, while still retaining some control.
Delegates can suspend rules and make new ones. I read somewhere that the GOP requires a nominee to win 5 states in order to be considered. I don't know if they meant the popular vote or the delegate vote, but it sounds like we may have that locked up already if it's the delegate vote. We'll know after the national conventions of these states.
You can reach voters in California, here: http://consequeries.com/California-voter-guide.php
IT isn't going to happen.
IT isn't going to happen. Sorry. It just isn't. I know everyone wants to believe that Gingrich and Santorum are still going to stay in the race through June, splitting all the states between them while Ron Paul comes in second eachtime...but they aren't. AT LEAST one of Santorum/Gingrich/Romney will drop out after Super Tuesday. (Gingrich most definitely) And by the end of March at the LATEST it will just just one to take the rest of the states.
So if Ron Paul does not win a state, there will not be a brokered convention.
Odd is wonderful.. most of us are misfits of some sort.
This is the way the process is designed.. so we can win in spite of the corruption.
Billionaires waisting $30 - $50 million dollars to prop-up not-Romney (Newt Santorum) who aren't even on ballots in like six states. What's the point of this...
They are scared sh!tless of RON PAUL becoming the anti-Romney candidate... so they dump tens of millions into people they know can not win.
Wow. We have already won folks.. Watch Doug Wead on the Maddow 2-10-12 and get yourself ready for OUR brokered convention. We are in it to WIN IT!

Don't find it odd. It's very possible. Think the Tour de France.
It has happened five times in the Tour. These riders never won any of the 21 races over the 3-week course of the most famous bicycle race in the world. But they won the race by having the lowest overall time at the end.

1956 Roger Walkowiak
1960 Gastone Nencini

1990 Greg Lemond
But all 5 of those guys have
But all 5 of those guys have SEVERAL virtual ties for first by finishing in the lead peleton for a day. Didn't lose any ground.
Alos...there is no comparison, so trying to make one just sounds desperate.
I think Abraham Lincoln lost the popular vote
with only 40%, yet he won the election with delegates. This is entirely possible, but the reason we need to come in first in some state, is because perceptions matter and in order to win a close primary, most people will not vote for someone they perceive to not be able to win. The lamestream media and GOP hack rats are making sure this perception is a reality. We must clean the GOP from this rats at all levels. I don't think it will be as hard as it seems, if we can get a large group of RP supporters at every level to take over positions of power within the GOP and play the same game they do with the neocon, rats running for office.
Personally
To be honest after NV and now Maine... I hope RON PAUL DOES "steal" the nomination from this disgusting individuals! I hope we have so many delegates that it's a circus in TAMPA and we take it from Santorum and Romney THESE PEOPLE DESERVE no less. If you're a delegate GO to TAMPA and muck it up for them--- WE HAVE nothing to lose... We need to rip the NeoCons all out of the Party and rebuild it... If we don't get our candidate, we make sure their CANDIDATE doesn't get elected in 2012... - I HATE Obama but I WILL go vote for him... the elites want Romney so all the TeaCons and the NeoCons are ok with Mittens bombing Iran... - I know Obama is a puppet but I'd rather have him then the Nazi Republicans. Living in an "EU-like" country is better then having Bush-lite in Charge!
"Many of us agree that you and I have no right to use coercion against people who don't owe us anything. The same prohibition applies to groups of people who constitute the government. The reason is simple: unjust acts do not become just when legalized. "
Actually...we DO have a lot
Actually...we DO have a lot to lose with that, and nothing to gain.
If Ron Paul gets the nomination against the clear will of the voters not only does it give Obama so much ammunition to use against him. ("The REpublicans aren't even making me face the one their own people want the most!") but by labeling the Ron Paul movement as someone who is OK with going against the will of the people (which is notvery much in line with liberty) you can wave "bye bye" to Rand Paul's career before it gets a chance to broaden. And EVERY gain that was made in 2010 will be out of office the very next time they are up for re-election.
I hate to tell you this..but even most Ron Paul voters are not whining and elusional idiots screaming CHEATING CHEATING! They are normal, rational ADULTS who actually ACT like adults and not "Waaaahhh! I didn't get my way! UNFAIR!"
It is the people like that (and sorry...that includes 99% of people here) that is costing Ron Paul votes. Nobody wants to associate with whining children.
I heard something about
I heard something about having to win at least 5 states, but I don't know if it applies at a brokered convention.
it's like MarioKart. IF I
it's like MarioKart. IF I get second every time I usually win the series. We might win Virginia or Texas. We eventually need to win some winner take alls.. especially we need to at least come close to a win in Texas, Virginia, and California, though I think they are proportional. Michigan is gonna hurt.. though I am optimistic.

I think I get it:
Let me explain.
I have associated it with something I am familiar with.
I am a drag racing fan. I have actually watched John Force go through an entire season, not win one single event, but win the championship in the end.
He would get more points then the others for qualifying 1st-2nd and then points for each round he wins, but not win the finals or get knocked out a little early, all the while collecting points, some of the ones get taken out making them lose points.
But in the end, he's the one with the most points and therefore, the seasons winner.
Perhaps not a great analogy, but in theory, because the Dr's supporters are enthusiastic, show up no matter what, try hard to become a delegate when others can't be bothered, he may just come out on top.

I love my country
I am appalled by my government
I guess I get it, but the
I guess I get it, but the mainstream GOP will explode in anger if Romney/Santorum win all these states and Paul saunters out at the convention with NO STATE WIN as the nominee. I just don't know where else we can get an actual win. It does not take a rocket surgeon to realize the establishment state GOP actors do everything in their power to ensure an establishment win. Even today, as they were announcing the winner there was an odd sort of feel too it. Like it was an orchestrated event with all the Romney supporters in place to cheer the results. They might as well have brought out Lee Harvey Oswald for Ruby to shoot. lol
I hate the vote fraud stuff and have been annoyed by it. But there's always that feeling in the back of my mind - ARE THEY CHEATING? WHY DID THAT ONE COUNTY CALL OFF THEIR VOTE BECAUSE OF A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW? IN MAINE!!! That's like us Okies calling off a vote because of a thunderstorm!
Okay, end of rant. lol
