My conversation a few minutes ago with Chris Gardner - Washington County Commissioner

I just wanted to share the conversation (Sunday, 2/12/12, 1pm PST) I just had with Chris Gardner, the Washington County Commissioner.
First, let me tell you that he was courteous enough to actually answer his cell phone and talk to me for nearly 10 minutes. He has told me that the decision to postpone the Washington County caucus was not strictly his, but it was a mutual decision involved with ALL 140 towns in this county. He said that in this particular county, the snow was worse than reported (about 6 inches that day) and most of the leaders felt it was unsafe for people to be travelling (also mentioned a very bad accident not to far from the caucus). He also said that he showed up to his caucus location just in case people showed up and didn't know they were cancelled, mentioning that there were quite a few Ron Paul people there watching over him.
Next, he said that he wasn't aware that the votes wouldn't be counted and he is doing everything in his power right now to get these votes counted. He said he realizes that it looks a little fishy because he is a Romney supporter, but he had nothing but good things about Dr. Paul and said that he is his 2nd choice for the nomination.
My take: Mr. Gardner seemed like an honest guy that actually is working hard to make things right. I think, until we have concrete, 100% proof that something fishy was going on, we need to give this guy the benefit of the doubt. At the very least, treat him with respect and be calm should you choose to write him an email. Let's hope Maine will do the right thing.
Now I am not saying that something fishy DIDN'T happen, I'm just saying that we need to wait and see what happens and can give Mr. Gardner the benefit of the doubt. He was actually surprised and happy that I treated him with respect and was calm during the conversation. I think I changed his mind a bit about RP supporters. You never know, maybe he will be converted!

So why wern't they closed ? That should tell you something.

Figures being changed from 2 to 22 in favor of other candidates.
The media having 'technical issues' losing Ron Paul's broadcast at different events in different states yet it hasn't happened to anyone else.
Or just cutting him off short and going somewhere else which also doesn't happen to other candidates who are allowed to finish their speech.
Don't get me started with blackouts, ignoring, ridiculing, bringing specious arguments, pretending he walked out of an interview when he had actually finished at the end of an interview, missing from poll results when he comes in second. Putting him second in county total lists, when he actually won as they don't want him to be seen in first place. et al.
It is continual, insideous, planned and blatantly obvious even Jon stewart ridicules it.
Trust is earned. There is no trust with the MSM or the GOP due to their own shenanigans.

Then again, according to his facebook page, Chris Gardner is in the process of running for re-election as Washington County Commissioner - a position he has held for 8 years.

The trouble with RP supporters is they are such good people.
Good people tend to see the good in others, and if they can't see any they try to leave room for some to appear. Some of these people are DEEPLY committed to saying and doing anything to keep Ron Paul from the nomination. Telling gullible RP supporters what they want to hear to shut them down is classic.
We seated a new chairman. The FIRST thing I did was call an "emergency meeting" to look at irregularities last time. I had enough Central Committee members backing me to force it. The new guy called me and played on my sympathy - give him time, don't make him look bad, we have to unite the party.... I called off the dogs, and the establishment has had dog for dinner ever since.
My friend, I suspect you are an exceedingly good person. WATCH YOUR BACK.

It goes beyond deeply committed....bound by bloody oaths of secrecy and allegiance is more like it....
We might have reason
to behave in a knee jerk manner but we should reserve judgement until we actually hear from the voters who might have been robbed of their voice in Washington County. If I was registered there you can bet there'd be a lot of explaining to do. It appears to be a pattern set to keep the votes from being accounted for until the media moves on to a state or two later. I'll guarantee you on Primary day in Pennsylvania, I'll be outside my local polling place requesting signatures on affidavits from Paul voters to attest to the count. If anyone has any better ideas please share them.

Second Thoughts
I am a very new RP supporter, and have been lurking around this site for a month or so. But after consistently reading comments like what I see in this thread I'm beginning to have second thoughts about being associated with such a group.
You claim to love the constitution yet you are so quick to presume guilt with very little in the way of corroborative facts. This is more of an angry mob than it is an organization, at least on this site.

It's akin to defending someone in your family
First of all, hello and welcome. You say you are a "very new" RP supporter, so I definitely understand your dismay in regards to the comments. There are many reasons why Ron Paul supporters are known to be passionate and enthusiastic.
What you may not understand is that many in this group presume guilt because of all they have had to deal with (not to mention the constant defending of false and/or petty attacks in the media). How would you feel if you invested your money and time for a cause (not a politician - so try to see it in that light), only to have your voice (Ron Paul) be constantly ignored, ridiculed, and mocked by the mainstream media and your own political party? How would you feel if during countless interviews, your candidate, instead of giving the usual contrived political answer, was constantly, and disrespectfully I might add, interrupted and cut off while actually answering the question with a straight forward answer? How would you feel if eight heavily favored precincts for your candidate were "lost" and no one was held accountable? Or that it took so long to count, and re-count only 33,000 votes in another state (where your candidate was expected to win because of the signatures obtained) and where party officials have confirmed that ballots in multiple precincts exceeded the number of voters who signed in? Not to mention various Precinct Captains and volunteers confirming election fraud. This should outrage anyone that believes in a fair democracy and that their vote actually counts, not just Ron Paul supporters. If you can understand their frustrations, and believe me, you will if you care to hang around here for awhile (just read the articles and ignore the comments for now), you will eventually start feeling the same at all the bias and injustice that is directed towards Ron Paul and his supporters. There are countless videos on youtube that show the blatant bias against Dr. Paul. If you like, I will also be glad to point out key factors in regards to the election fraud, as well as videos.

So again, there are many reasons why Ron Paul supporters are known to be passionate and enthusiastic. Aside from the issues, a politician that actually keeps his promises, and does the "right thing" while in office, and that doesn't force the voter to vote for the lesser of two evils, but instead finally vote for someone they can truly believe in. A president you can actually be proud of, imagine that! Take care.

People have the right to say or think what they want. I agree totally. But before you post something consider that you need people who are not "true Ron Paul supporters" to vote for Ron Paul in order for him to win.

Hi. First of all, I'm happy you've decided to support Ron Paul. Ron is one of a kind - an incorruptible politician with honesty, character, and intelligence second to none.
Now, please realize that there is a lot of disagreement in the ranks of Ron Paul supporters regarding accusations without proof and circumstantial evidence of voter fraud. It comes from unbridled passion for Ron Paul's candidacy as the only real and positive change for America, and it exacerbated by the fact that we've been treated very badly by the mainstream media and the establishment GOP. So we've been weary of new tricks thrown at us during elections in an attempt to derail Ron Paul from a win.
But please be careful not to lump all Ron Paul supporters into one group. We have a pretty broad spectrum of folks supporting Ron Paul, and opinions differ greatly. But most important, Ron Paul should never be blamed for how his supporters behave. To think of severing your association with Ron Paul simply because of behavioral patterns of some of his supporters would be rash and irrational.
Instead, I encourage you to remain an independent thinker, to fight for the cause, to learn more about Ron Paul. As you learn more and more, you will understand where the passion comes from and why some of the folks in the movement are quick to see establishment attacks on Ron Paul in every road block we face, whether or not that is indeed what it is.

I can understand an objective person feeling that way. Unfortunately, if you are a new ron paul supporter you have not wittnessed the amount of corruption, disappointment, and criminality worked against the doctor over the past 5 years that other people have wittnessed. As any libertarian will tell you, you have the right to freedom of association. I think the people here are great, I feel they would enrich your life. That however is my opinion and my opinions have nothing to do with your rights. One's got to do what one's got to do.
I have definitely witnessed
I have definitely witnessed the unfair treatment of Ron Paul in the media, and I undertand that the GOP establishment does not want him around. In fact, that is the first thing that drew me to him. I also agree there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that point to possible voter fraud and "shenanigans" in the caucus process.
I am, however, surprised at lots of the comments that are so quick to assume this guy is guilty when you really have no reason backing you but your suspicion.
My goal with this post was to point out what this looks like to the rest of the country, and why some have a hard time taking Dr. Paul seriously.

to be sure. I was defintely less skeptical and cynical of the establishment 5 years ago. But you can only be burned so many times before you stop giving the benefit of the doubt. Hope you can stay with the movement. I truly believe history is going to understand that it was truly the Ron Paul movement vs the establishment at this time. And that Ron Paul and no other candidate was on the right side of history when its studied in the future. For that reason alone I feel you owe it to yourself to stand by Ron even if you don't support some of his supporters. If Ron's right what difference does it make whether his supporters are angels or devils?? Right is right.
Also realize that alot of people on this site have dedicated alot of time and alot of money. If you become such a person and then suspect in all likeliehood your hard work was stolen not defeated I think you will be able to sympathize easier. Anyone wherever you stay or go I hope you come to understand the importance of true liberty and continue the fight wherever it may lead you.
