Guys! I am doing an interview with NPR! *Morning Edition

My mother last election cycle did smart parties, an event in which people attended to watch the debates. They are going to ask my for my views on the current election.

-Ron Pau electable
-30 years of consistency
-Anti-war Policy and how the youth support it.

I am going to drive the paul message home so listen in, suggest some stuff I should really mention and when it drops ill post the interview so if you are interested you can check it out :). Wish me luck!

Best of Wishes
Zeke Chavez
rEVOLution 2012!

EDIT* The show is going to be morning edition.
My sister and I are going to be doing the interview, (she is also a die hard rper) The one thing we are worried about is the racist news letters.
My response would be he disavowed them, someone else wrote them, everyone has their flaws, racist drug wars, individualism and how racism is collectivism, and he shouldnt have signed it, but I know Dr Paul would never knowingly do something wrong, he lives his life on his principles and morals the accusation he did it on purpose doesnt fit him.

Suggestion from a PR person

Don't EVER mention the words "racism" or "bigotry" EVER. DO NOT ANSWER THAT QUESTION. There is no law that says you have to answer any question they ask. Do not use ANY words that you don't want to be associated with the words "Ron Paul." Otherwise, the editor and producer will craft your message for you.

The answer to, "so, what about those newsletters" is:

"The American economy is careening off a cliff. The two most important things to voters in this election are jobs and the bloated, intrusive Federal government. Ron Paul has a plan to slash the out-of-control federal budget and free America's businesses to create jobs. He's the only candidate running who has both a real, detailed, written plan, available at RonPaul2012.com, and a 30-year track record of keeping his campaign promises. Ron Paul is the only choice for real change, jobs, and economic growth. Period. He's the only candidate with grassroots support and the only GOP candidate who can attract independents and Reagan Democrats. Ron Paul is the GOP's only hope of winning the White House."

In fact, this is the answer to EVERY question you are asked.

"Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid." - Ronald Reagan

Suggestion?

As for the racist newsletters,(besides the fact that he didn't write them) you may want to say that actions speak louder then words and Dr Paul has shown by his actions that he is not a racist.re: "The compassion of Dr Paul" on you tube (I assume you've seen it)

One More Comment

I would tell them "Just YouTube, 'Ron Paul 2001' and 'Ron Paul 2002'". The first one is Ron Paul predicting the housing bubble. The second one is Ron Paul predicting all of the wars, etc. They are the two most powerful videos I've seen regarding Ron Paul's ability to use history to portend the near future...and I've watched HOURS AND HOURS of Ron Paul videos.

I Was on NPR...

...when the evangelical Christian leaders were meeting to see who they were going to back (i.e., right before they ended up backing Santorum). I suggested they consider Ron Paul. I was thanked and hung up on. The statement made it on air, but the guest said that Ron Paul was anti-Israel and therefore there was no way they would vote for him. I was yelling at my radio, but unfortunately I was no longer on air. So, all I would say is that if foreign policy comes up or if you choose to bring it up, be concise, but be specific and show exactly why Ron Paul's foreign policy would make us safer and would actually be better for Israel. Good luck.

regarding the newsletters

I've been interviewed before by the daily beast and they asked that. I would expect it from NPR as well. Be prepared. I wouldn't use the excuse that everyone has flaws, because that seems to imply ron paul is racist which he is obviously not.

My response when asked about this was that I've read Dr. Paul's books and the newsletters in question are nothing like his writing style in countless articles and books. In fact many people have come forward to say the racist claims are a joke... including the head of the NAACP in Austin TX and former medical patients who are black.

Also, I would recommend that for proof they look at Dr. Paul's actions and legislative record to determine if they really think he is racist. His entire life has been spent working toward freedom and civil liberties for ALL people. Why would he do that if he was racist? Dr Paul is one of the only politicians who truly walks the talk when it comes to race. He believes everyone has the same god given rights and that government should not look to the color of someones' skin to determine how they should be treated.

If the media is so interested in this race claim, then why don't they go after politicians who back the death penality, and the illegal wars overseas that disproportionately hurt minorities??? It's total hypocrisy on behalf of the media to harp on Dr. Paul about this issue while overlooking the myriad abuses against minorities perpetrated by president Obama and the other GOP candidates.

Also don't let them say that it's just the youth that support Ron Paul. His support crosses all ages, ethnicities, and economic backgrounds. Freedom brings people together!

Last but not least, keep your cool and don't let them throw you off with stupid questions. Answer as if you were talking to your grandma and don't get riled up. Good Luck!

You've

gotten a lot of good feedback below. The only thing I would add regarding the racist allegations, since you've already mentioned the drug wars, is:

Perhaps you could mention that Rosa Parks and MLK are his heroes--for practicing non-violent civil disobedience.

Perhaps you could mention the Rosa Parks CMH story (Paul offering $100 out of his own pocket, but not one Congress member took him up on his offer).

Perhaps you could tell people to watch "The Compassion of
Dr. Ron Paul" on youtube, or "Ron Paul: I'm the Anti-Racist".

Good luck!

maybe this will help

Doug Wead had an excellent response to that. He pointed out RP is the only candidate who has stuck up for the people in jail who are minorities and victims of racial prejudice by the legal system. In fact he has said he would pardon nonviolent drug offenders, that is the compassion of an honest good man, not a raciest.

"What Are You Talking About?"

If they ask, which they won't, just say, "What?" and make them repeat the question. Then say, "You must have the wrong information."

No way will the final story have that question followed by you saying, "What?" or "I don't have any info on that."

Often, they like to use clips of the interviewee, not the interviewer. They are highly unlikely to care about old non-news. Just shrug it off and talk about how freedom brings us together.

"I don't have an opinion" or "no comment," is about as boring as it gets, and perfectly legitimate. You don't have to answer the questions, you're not Ron Paul.

IMO your suggestions would be interpreted

by many as dodges. Zeke is on the right track with his explanation that racism is a collectivist view which Dr. Paul has never held. Refer to his own works, not to some anonymous supporter/s. The man's words speak for themselves and are entirely consistent.

Just don't let a "gotcha" interviewer get you mired in these old letters. Stay on track with all of the real and important issues this nation faces today, and the fact that only Dr. Paul has real solutions we can trust, proven by his years of truthful, positive good works.

Another suggested topic for clarification....

Social Security.

Paul will honor the contract made between the government and seniors and will NOT cut off their SS benefits despite misinformation being circulated. He will work with the Congress on implementing alternatives to government run Social Security for future generations.

Pro-Life (from the campaign's own site on Issues)

Dr. Paul’s experience in science and medicine only reinforced his belief that life begins at conception, and he believes it would be inconsistent for him to champion personal liberty and a free society if he didn’t also advocate respecting the God-given right to life—for those born and unborn.

Liberty/Freedom

Ron Paul doesn't use his faith for political gain as do some other candidates. Ron Paul chooses to fight for liberty which enables Americans to have freedom of religion. If a candidate isn't for protecting liberty by their actions, no one will have religious freedom.

Just a few thoughts especially trying to wake up those who have anointed Santorum the only "Chrisitian" in the room.

"Criticizing Ron Paul for not passing bills in Congress is like criticizing a nun in a whore house for not turning tricks. He was there to stop the "whoring," not become one!" ~ Blake Buffington

Best wishes Zeke

Some input-do as you wish with it.

Definitely make the electability vs Obama a centerpiece-Cite the critical facts on that.

Would avoid mentioning youth or any other narrow demographic-do the opposite-RP appeals to all because the vast majority think the WOT/Wars are the wrong way to go-RP only one serious about and can be counted on to change that.

All care about the bailouts and trashing of the economy for the benefit of the few-Old, Young, R, D, I, etc.

Loss of civil liberties affects all: TSA, Patriot Act, etc.

Listed TSA first on civil liberties because that is how most are getting their only real taste of a much larger loss.

May want to throw in something about people all across the spectrum becoming more and more concerned about the most fundamental pillar of a free society-integrity of our election process. Concern is growing about elections not being transparent, elections abused by corporate media, electronic vote counting, party insider manipulation-;-D

"You are a den of vipers and thieves."

I mean to rout you out!

-Just because you are among us, does not make you with us

-The door is wide open, anything can slither in

Oh hell yea!

For Obama, NDAA, killing of american citizen, acta. Polls will be PPP poll from my state(new mexico has always chosen the winner, and Paul does the best against Obama), and real clear amongst others. If the economy comes up I am econ major and I know my austrian school well. (Road to Serfdom baby!) Especially Business Cycle and inflation being a hidden tax ect. (basic free market, end the fed, and anti income tax arguments.)

Good luck!

and thanks!
Your points are perfect.

Grab a Super brochure and have it handy

Personally, I like NPR as much as Faux. They have been just as GUILTY as neglecting to mention Ron Paul, and when they do, it's about Ron Paul the racist, Ron Paul the homophobe, Ron Paul the REPUBLICAN (the very word "Republican" makes NPR listeners SICK (they don't call it "puke" for nothing).

I'm just going to suggest that you have a Super Brochure handy and you read off that when you get "caught" for an answer.

To NPR, Ron Paul is THE ENEMY, so please don't think you are talking to friends. You are not.

I sincerely wish you, and RON PAUL, more than good luck, but may you be enlightening and passionate and fearless, and witty and funny and kind and a perfect representative of MY political leader, Ron Paul. God Bless you!

WE ARE GOING TO WIN!
