I want to opt out of the snail-mail campaign!
Submitted by bringonDrLiberty on Sun, 02/12/2012 - 18:47I swear I must receive 2 or 3 mailed letters each month from the RP campaign laying out his views and policies and asking for more donations.
Does anyone else see this practice as a rediculous waste of precious campaign resources? I have donated several times, I have volunteered to be a delegate, I have even participated in local sign wave events. I'm already on board. I'm voting for RP and nobody else. They need to provide an opt out of the snail-mail campaign. The money saved would be better spent on buying air time or other avenues of advertisement to attract other registered voters!
They solicit me daily by email, I have no problem with that, as it's a far more efficient use of resources. But to use my donations to pay a printer and the post office to solicit me for more money by mail is a rediculous waste of resources. I will donate on Tuesdays money bomb because I know how important it is, but I will not donate again after this unless they agree to stop wasting my money!

Guys, this is called fundraising
Ron's campaign gets lots through the web site but they need to diversify to reach people who won't do that. If the mailers and calls weren't bringing in money they wouldn't be doing them. Are the mailers to you wasteful? Sure, but even a great mailer gets only 1-2% returning a donation so 98% of them are "wasted", except that you don't know which 98% in advance. And for every 20 loyal supporters like you who throw it out and think they'll donate online, 1 guy does donate more than he would have otherwise simply because he was asked, and that more than makes up the cost of mailing all the others.
It's called mismanaging resources
And deterring future interest in making donations.
A simple opt in/opt out option would help the campaign maximize it's resources in finding untapped donors. It would also stopping pissing off those that know how to use a computer and know that there is a campaign going on like most of us here. I would contribute much more to the campaign if I knew it was being spent wisely, but I cant because its not and as such my money would be far better spent else where for the cause than by spamming myself with incessant mail solicitations.
Yes, it's a waste!
I got four cards to caucus even. What I will NEVER donate to is the C4L. I know all the reasons they can't participate, yada, yada, yada, but they had NO PRESENCE in the Nevada caucus. What good is the C4L? I used to be one of their Interium State Coordinators & they kicked me to the curb. I'm glad they did. C4L is worthless.
I don't
know much about C4L, I get their emails, to me most often any worthwhile activist positions they hold and promote seem to be covered by other, larger, groups.
Thankyou,
I so agree it is a big waste of money, if they would've instead included a plain generic donation form, (as opposed to an expensive glossy personalized form) then a person could, maybe, and that's a big maybe, use it to stick in a SB for a interested newbie.
I digress, they should just make the correction NOW!
Oh they call too?, caller id, I don't pick up the phone for anyone I don't know, that's what the answering machine is for. Whoever, (and I have plenty) never leaves a message anyway.
I agree
I would agree with you. Total waste of money (and time). In fact the campaign received money from me without them asking. So it really just annoys people that have already given. If people have given without anyone asking then the fact is, DON'T ASK, it doesn't make a difference. People will give because they believe and stand with RP not because someone calls and asks for money. Stop wasting time having people call and ask for money. Their time could be better spent like keeping track of the voter fraud that seems to be occuring.
I realize that the people that run these things are stuck in their ways. But really, it isn't a very effective use of the campaigns resources.
Do what needs to be done. The money will come.
Two shorten the road.
Thanks for bringing this up.
We need to keep this bumped until we get someones attention. I know Paul is more frugal than this so I wish he would oversee his campaign a little better. It's got to where they go from mailbox to trash bucket. Stop preaching to the chior allready.
THIS! so very much!
I have seen the few scraps of money I can spare come back to me in the form of thick solicitations for more money written on expensive glossy paper... I can't tell you how furious that makes me!
i got 3 letters last week
2 were the same and one had my name with "mr." added. very wasteful. it was during the caucus so i guess someone got too excited. i didn't open them but they looked and weighed identical. it's always info i already know anyways.

i agree
i agree
I agree
send information to other Republicans not hard core supporters. Don't waste money asking me to donate. I do that all ready. Additionally the campaign has me listed by both my first and middle name so I get everything twice.
Can't someone do a simple mail merge all voters at this address?
those letters
... cost a shit ton of money to send. They make 0% difference in my actions. I donate according to:
1. How poor and homeless I am at that particular point in time
2. The latest and greatest grassroots activism as determined by DailyPaul.com threads
3. ... other financial considerations as balanced against saving humanity ( ! )

I live in Iowa and I was
I live in Iowa and I was thinking the same thing. One thing to consider though is it could be a greater expense of time and resources to coordinate and manage two separate list of NOBP people and people on the list for expressing interest.

I'm not
not the brightist bulb in silicon valley, but I would think with 4 years prep time it shouldn't be hard. I donated 4 years ago by mail once, this time around it's always been the net, not so difficult to track, even though no one really likes to be tracked.
I might have read DP once or twice then, but it was not at all the motivating factor for my RP support.
Must have been the official website, I remember I did partipate in the record breaking MB.
And before anyone suggests
I've already contacted the campaign via the website, and via the return letters, yet they continue to send them.
Ironically, real journalism would reveal to American citizens that broadcast news has become a racket.
i emailed the campaign probably 4-5 times
so this last one, I wrote return to sender on it (it was coming to a mailbox that is getting ready to expire).
