Republicans see need to give Paul a voice
Submitted by northstar on Sun, 02/12/2012 - 21:45Rep. Ron Paul and his loyal band of supporters were uncharacteristically missing from the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington last week — and high-profile Republican leaders say the party can’t afford for that to happen in November if the GOP is to win the White House.
They pointed to, and applauded, the 76-year-old Texan’s unique ability to attract young, independent and first-time voters, giving his campaign a consistent level of energy and enthusiasm that is sometimes lacking in the other presidential camps.
“It would be a dramatic error for the winning campaign to disavow Ron Paul’s contributions to the process”

Update: I didn't think about it when I posted, but yup, CPAC will never be the same again without Ron Paul speaking there. I bet it was the most boring CPAC they had, just hearing canned talking points from the establishment candidates.

The cheating lieing SOBS
Long time Republican here, this is not the grand old party I use to respect. I am still only here because of the good doctor. I love how they have dummied down the American citizens using fox, cnn, msm, and trampled the truths that use to be the party (OUR Constitution and Bill OF Rights).
Its funny to watch this bunch of liars and cheaters, constitution law breakers, turn and wrap there own nots in there neck breaking hangman noose, then cry for mercy out one side of there mouth claiming they need us and the next second calling us all kooks out the other side of there mouth.
Few things in life I can not deal with LIARS and CHEATS, and worst of all OATH breakers. There is no Mercy that should be given if for no other reason than how they have treated a man that is honest and wants to save the USA.
When they beg for forgivness and change there ways, you may again ask me for my vote, untill then I am in the kookie party and stand with PAULBOTS.
SO kiss my ARSE GOP. NO ONE BUT PAUL.....
I can't wait to see all the
I can't wait to see all the promises they'll make to try and curry favor with us, and then promptly discard once the election is over.
Sorry, we know you are a bunch of phonies. It's going to take a Paul in a high level spot in the administration for us to even consider jumping on the bandwagon...
And Jeb Bush was their best suggestion. LOL
Although Sara Palin got their blood flowing with all the red meat she tossed at them.
A vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil.
A vote for liberty is always a vote for liberty.
I will vote for Ron Paul as either the nominee or as a write in.
The GOP
just makes me laugh. Oh really? You screwed my candidate with voting fraud, Told the media to ignore him, the media is constantly hounding him for an unofficial endorsement of another candidate because you don't like Ron Paul but you think whoever Ron Paul likes we will vote for if you allow him to speak at the convention.
screw You! I will write him in and you will get 4 more years of Obama!
"Give me liberty or give me death" Patric Henry
It seems the Washington Times...
It seems the Washington Times is no longer allowing comments to be posted to this story. I suppose they were invaded by Paul fans and decided to close it down. Lol
Inspiring comments
So many "older" folks read that publication regularly. The comments are so inspiring. There are pages and pages and pages and over and over and over its "Ron Paul or none at all". Yes!!!
I love you "youth" but I also want you to know you are not alone in the R3volution. Don't let MSM blind you. Don't let the establishment crush your hopes and dreams. We will all do this!!! We will take back our country.
GOP is faltering
My parents have always been hardcore Republican stooges. Even until recently they have been members of the "anyone but Obama" bandwagon. However the blatant sabotage campaign by the media, along with the disrespectful treatment of Dr. Paul, and the recent election "discrepancies" associated with Paul's strong states has led even my most truculent parents to realize the sordid nature of the party. My father is now a Paul supporter, while my mother has simply removed herself from political issues altogether. Trust me people, if you knew my parents, and the apparent futility of changing their minds just couple of years ago, you would be as astounded as I am. Be very encouraged friends. The GOP is commiting suicide, and even their hardcore base is beginning to see the light.
To little to late
Am voting idep or write in if RP does not get the nomination. Establishment can eat it.
Mr. Conway is flat out WRONG = We Patriots are not transferable
UNLESS its either Judge Andrew Napolitano or Rand Paul.
EVEN THEN, we are not transferable for a VP ticket.
We are on to the GOP Kabuki theater game.
We will throw another Party, another Campaign For Liberty Party next to the GOP Tampa convention IF WE MUST.
But, the good news is, we may be Number 1 in Delegates.
We hang around after the voting. We are TAMPA bound.
Winning for us is winning OVER, over between the ears of the 3 other Republican groups: Moral Majority Voters, NeoConned Fear Mongers, and the Status Quo Republicans.
This election is NOT about beating Obama, its about beating these 3 groups inside the GOP. ONCE we own the GOP electorate "between the ears", then and only THEN can we proceed to take America Back.
Kabuki theater is for Democrats. With Ron Paul patriots taking up positions of Power inside the GOP, we will root the tree of liberty deep inside her, and we will change the direction of this country.

I could care less about the.....G....O....P!
With their cheating and conniving and scheming, I have no use for the GOP now. They have burnt their bridges, as far as I'm concerned.
There is NO WAY I would or will EVER vote for their anointed candidates, whether Neocon Romney or Neocon Santorum....NEVER, NO WAY, NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Last time I did, but the idea of Obama winning or either of these yahoos, well, it makes no difference to me now.
DR. PAUL needs to run on the LIBERTARIAN TICKET, since they are on ballot in all 50 states. He doesn't even have to spend money campaigning, just be on that ticket!
Amen brotha!
No comprimising on this gent's end.
Like the mastercard commercials: "Watching the GOP fail at bamboozeling people once more... PRICELESS!"
Ron Paul or none at all!
Agreed! But, we are becoming the GOP. We have a winning strategy. Your advice is to give up while we are gaining ground. Sorry, but that does not make sense to me.
Lots of good comments on
Lots of good comments on there, but lots of censoring too. I just got flagged for politely pointing out the difference between natural money and monopoly money, and why competition is an important part of the equation if the Republicans do plan on offering us a gold commission to court our voting bloc, as Newt has suggested.
I'm not falling for a Gold Commision
That's just one of those things they do to make you think they have some interest in it, when they really just want to keep the status quo.
The first part of keeping the status quo intact is to make it "appear" as if they care about changing it.
A guy who gets up there and makes the promise to actually do it, rather than just a "I'll look into it and maybe, perhaps, consider it", is different in my eyes. One of the differences is the way in which they can be held accountable.
If Newt isn't knowledgeable and informed enough about this major presidential candidate issue to know where he stands on it yet, then he needs to sit down and research it. I did.

I agree totally. I commented
I agree totally. I commented about Ron Paul's Free Competition in Currency Act, urging people to read it, and my comment was promptly erased.
Honestly of all the ideas Ron
Honestly of all the ideas Ron Paul brings forward, this is the key issue. If the US were to legalize a second currency that was asset backed, how long would it be before people converted their savings into this currency. The current dollar would lose what little value it still has and the government would be forced to bring our troops home because it simply does not have the gold to maintain it. Many foreign affair issues would be resolved because we would not have the money to occupy other countries. Government size would be automatically reduce quite dramatically... This really is the KEY issue guys...
Really?
"A guy who gets up there and makes the promise to actually do it"...
NO ONE makes and keeps promises, None but Ron Paul! Pig Newton or the rest of them are liars and sell-outs remember? Ron Paul or none at all! I don't care if they promise to fill up Fort Knox again, they are full of cr-ap and will NOT do what they say.
I agree with what you say...
I agree with what you say... I was just mentioning of all his reforms, this one would go a looonnngggg way to help restore America.
" I bet it was the most boring CPAC ..."
What do you mean?!?
Congressman Steve "Ron Paul's foreign policy is DANGEROUS" King of Iowa gave a VERY inspiring speech describing his struggle to maintain our God-given right to use incandescent light bulbs instead of energy-saving CF bulbs. He talked about his harrowing struggle against the dark minions of Nancy Pelosi (the janitorial staff of the congressional offices) as one after another he replaced their dim curlicue light bulbs with good old-fashioned "Edison bulbs" (purchased with his OWN money!).
I became misty-eyed at this man's bravery.

Edison
...was a real bastard. Nikola Tesla was a true lover of people and God. Tesla wanted free energy for everyone (because God made it available that way ~ ask the Phonecians or Egyptians), AC current, but Edison wanted the easily controllable and sell-able DC, that most of us are slaves to now. JP Morgan did not like what Tesla was doing, so he cut funding. And here we are... Who do you think funds (to the greatest extent) universities? Get a Physics degree, and learn the "laws" of physics, that will blind you to this truth of free energy. You are probably on this site A) because you are a troll, or B) an outside the box thinker. If you are B, then you should look into this.
I like that
lessons can be learned via consequences of one's actions.
CNN's headline was that CPAC was swooning over Santorum...yes, swooning, that's the word they used. Maybe because it's close to Valentine's Day.

Maybe
they meant stumbling or swaying from all the kool-aid they were given.
But what they
didn't say was, it started by one person saying you've got to listen to this jackass in person and it spread from their.

Yep, they saw how empty the Party is without RP.
They know what their fate is. But, they cannot allow any honesty into their criminal enterprise, so they are stuck.
What they are going to try to do is another con-game scam.
They are going to try to make us believe, somehow, that their corrupt nominee will "give us a voice".
Anybody who falls for that line deserves what they get.
Personally, I'm not swallowing any more of the GOP's BS. Either they give up their corrupt goals and get on board with RP full-power, or they can go piss up a rope.
All their little "trial balloons", with theoretical offers like "what if RP was VP?", or "what if Rand was VP?", or "what if RP get s a big speech at the Convention?, and all those other "what ifs" are simply probes by the RNC to see where our weak points are, so they can compromise us into a con-job.
Notice NONE of the "theoretical offers" include RP as the NOMINEE. All their "suppositions" are based on US giving up our principles, and giving our votes to them.
That is the clue. Their task is to placate us and get our votes, while screwing us up the behind with some other nominee that is in their pockets. Anything to get them past this election, so they have 4 more years of breathing room, and then Ron will be too old, and will be retired.
No Way.
Establishment Repooblicans
Establishment Repooblicans are going to get a lesson in "uncompromising" integrity.
They have screwed with the wrong man one too many times.
CPAC event income was down by over 10% in an election year.
It should have been up.
CPAC Straw Poll participation was also down by over 10% in spite of making it easier to vote with the rigged Romney electronics system.
And you had Grizzly Momma saying "WTF?" like an idiot.
Sarah Palin is becoming just another blog flammer, dirty mouth. She made her money off the Tea Baggers. Doesn't need them anymore. Now she can give Republicans a bad name with her stoopid remarks.

Ron Paul numbers are the only ones going up
the gop have lost a lot of voters in most States since 2008 and so has mitt, but Ron has gained in every State and bringing in new voters, if Ron was not running it would be catastrophic for them
look at this link

Maybe it's too late. People
Maybe it's too late. People are watching the dirty politics being played against Ron Paul by the GOP. People are realizing the GOP has nothing to offer BUT RON PAUL. The democrats have nothing to offer at all. So where do people go to exercise their right to vote and free choice?
Yep
Write-ins are not counted in Mass., but they do in NH...and I've met several people who said they're writing Dr. Paul in if he isn't the nominee. I didn't have to sell Dr. Paul to them or anything. They saw the bias. They read stories about Iowa and Florida. They know the game that's being played.
It's not just the super hardcore activists who say Paul or bust (as I've seen some supporters of other candidates claim)-- I'd say it's the majority of us.
It reminds me of when my parents would say "don't do X!" Which, of course, would make me want to do X all the more. The MSM is pretty much doing that in regards to Dr. Paul on a national scale.
A signature used to be here!
write ins
Are not counted in Virginia, either. :(
If RP doesn't get the Republican nomination, I won't bother to vote.
