Article: Ron Paul supporters to GOP establishment: "No one but Paul"

"No one will stop the corrupt politicians. No one will repeal the Patriot Act. No one has a plan to balance the budget. No one understands the economy. No one but Ron Paul."

Those are sentiments taken from a recent YouTube video promoting a "money bomb" for Ron Paul on February 14th.

"No one but Paul" is the message Ron Paul supporters have for the GOP establishment, and it's the theme for the latest "money bomb" for Ron Paul on Tuesday. The goal is to raise $3 million in 24 hours.

Supporters of other candidates often ask Paul supporters if they will vote for whomever the Republican nominee is, assuming Paul fans will ultimately "fall in line" when November arrives in order to prevent another Obama presidency. But their answer is almost always the same: "No."

Now that article is what I call journalism.

Clear, simple and concise writing. Jenn nailed this article in substance and in grammar, style and punctuation. As well, she didn't use fancy words or overdose on adjectives and adverbs, descriptive words journalists or editors inject to influence the reader. In fact, I recall Jenn used them sparingly and only as lead-ins to Paul supporters she quoted because the quote allowed the descriptive word. That usage is the classic, proper transition to a quote. Jenn put on a clinic of adhering to journalism and writing rules.

Those rules are basic, and although they are, they are the divider between objective writing and subjective writing. Relatively few journalists, no, few writers, stick to the rules. I have one fault with the article, though. It's a quibble: the use of may.

May: permission. Might: possibility. Sorry about seemingly picayune. Their misuse, as the misuse of then and than, irk me, lol. (Then: sequence. Than: comparison.)

Irrespective of my trifle stickling, this article about Ron Paul's supporters is the most polished article I've read in the past six months.

Thank you!

I appreciate your thoughtful comment. Thanks for pointing out the may/might issue. I made the changes. :)

You're Welcome, Jenn!

Thanks for taking my may-might gripe gratefully instead of cantankerously. I had a feeling you would accept it. Your writing and your photo evince a reasonable, thoughtful person.

If ever you're in need of a proofreader, let me know. I copyedited and wrote for my high school and college newspapers and I wrote for a community newspaper before dentistry took my health down. (If you want more on that problem, see my comments Health is Everything parts 1 and 2 and a reply of mine to comment in that post.)

Keep up the grade of journalism few journalists do, A.

In that time I've read

In that time I've read between 300 to 400 articles on RP and probably 20 to 40 on his supporters.

same

Ron Paul or none at all

My husband , 60, and I, 57, will write Paul in,

and my parents, in their 80s will do the same, and even my dad did last election.

I'm another Ron Paul or none at all voter.

I am a registered Republican in Arizona. By the way, if Paul were (which he will not) on the Republican ticket as someone's VP -- I would not vote for that Presidential candidate-- but would instead vote in RON PAUL for PRESIDENT. Great article.
