Completely agree that the
Completely agree that the Federal Government has no business forcing Catholic Hospitals and Employers to provide a service that they are morally opposed to.
But, was it really necessary for Ron to take a jab at gays and single parents? How does he transition from religious freedom to implying that single parents are less noble than married parents?
This will get down voted into oblivion, and thats fine. For me personally, one of the reason I support Dr Paul is that he does not pander to the far right evangelicals and homophobes. Perhaps I am misunderstanding him, but thats what this feels like to me.
I didn't hear his remark that way at all, and
your interpretation would be very out of character, so I doubt it's correct.
Rather, I suspect he likely was commenting on the break down of families in the welfare system which systematically encourages single parent families, to keep income below the cut off for "benefits." Economist Walter Williams has written extensively on how this program broke down U.S. black culture which previous to welfare had been strongly family-oriented, with strong, supportive communities.
This is a perfect example
of why the Federal government must not be used to legislate the moral beliefs of any segment of society whether fundamentally religious or militantly secular.
This is the perfect way to debunk the notion that Christians should use the Federal power to legislate against homosexuality or drug use or any other personal behaviour one might find abhorrent or that is sinful according to scripture.
The fact is in today's largely secular society it is much more likely that the opposite will occur and that once the Federal government has become accustomed to intruding into personal behaviour it will then begin to prohibit certain religious behaviours under the rubric of separation of Church and State.
This has already begun and it will continue until Christians wake up and realise that the Constitution is their best safeguard under God to protect their liberties so long as they themselves do not seek to undermine it. If this message is brought home to them explicitly and clearly then we can change a few Christian minds I believe with this example.
"The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." (John 8:35-36)
...AND Orthodox Jews!
Besides Catholics, this mandate to a great extent would affect Orthodox and Conservative Jews as well who are, according to Torah Law, both anti-abortion and anti-birth control. This could be an excellent opportunity for Dr. Paul to attract Jewish voters and Evangelicals heading into the South. Santorum is sneaking this pro-life vote by default. Romney, no chance.
Also, a perspective on Israel you'll probably never see anywhere on the MSM.

Jews for Ron Paul!
Good info.
Thanks for the links, nouncount.
Another good speech
by Sir Gerald Kaufman the Labour MP, many of whose family perished in the Holocaust but who opposes the actions of the Israelis in the West Bank and Gaza. He denounces them as war criminals and fools.

Thanks for posting his Texas Straight Talks, LL.
Thanks so much for a bump
For some reason this latest Straight Talk from the good doc comes a bit late.
Usually the video comes out between midnight and 3am on Mondays.
I was the first to leave a comment on Youtube and gave a shout out about Daily Paul & my website.
Also posted it on Twitter and see others are already retweeting it.
