Why Santorum is supposedly surging...

Who knows what the Establishment hacks are up to -- but just an idea: maybe they see Romney going down with the "voter fraud ship" (in addition to his "R. Money" persona and lack of passion) and want an alternative just in case Romney continues his descent. Santorum, of course, should have no chance of getting the nomination (for one, he's probably not on enough state ballots to even theoretically win the delegate count). Also, they've been "floating" around the idea of a brokered convention in which names like Jeb Bush (seriously?, yes) may be handed the nomination.

This is nuts. The Republican Establishment is blinking - and Ron Paul supporters are more energized than ever. Our Revolution may not win every battle, but we will win the war.

Santorum surging.......

Gross!!

Romney has never been the first choice of the insiders.

As I have been saying for over four years, if Romney had been the choice of the establishment he, not John McCain would have been the GOP nominee in 2008.

Similarly, if They wanted Romney to win this year, He would be winning going away.
Seeing what the MSM and the GOP insiders have done to Ron Paul, isn't it obvious that They could be doing the same things to Gingrichand Santorum?

No, Santorum is surging because They want him to surge.
If Romney implodes it is because they prefer someone else.

Keep the Iowa Caucuses "First in the Nation"!

He's the distraction up front

While they prepare in the back. I think they wanted Newt, but way too many people can't stand him and wouldn't buy him as the "favorite." I'm thinking they'll push Jeb or another neocon dynasty player at a brokered convention. God save us!

In 2008 Romney could have

In 2008 Romney could have won.

I have to agree that he is not the establishment's choice.
Maybe this is why he gets along with Ron Paul quite well.

it could be Romney imploding

more than santa surging, look at Mitts numbers from 2008 compared to 2012 they are really bad he lost 110,000 in Missouri, in Minnesota he lost 68.5%.

Let me offer a less conspiratorial reason.

A week ago last Sunday a letter of defiance was ordered read from every Catholic church pulpit in America. It stated the Catholic Church and its various institutions would not abide by the Obama administration's attempt to force them to insure employees for procedures and pharmaceuticals that go against church doctrine.

The letter did not say "vote for Rick Santorum" but it might as well have. It awakened Catholics from their political apathy and they turned out in droves at the caucuses two days later and voted for the most ardent Catholic on the ballot, meaning Santorum. (Sure, Newt claims a recent conversion to Catholicism but who really trusts his sincerity given his past?)

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

Sounds

plausible, but makes me want to scream! Mr. Pro-life Christian (Catholic) Santorum voted to FUND abortions/Planned Parenthood! I wish some people would get responsible and research the candidates prior to voting.

Let Me Agree While Reintroducing Some Conspiracy

Might Obama have (mis)handled the situation as he did in order to create a boost for Santorum, who is probably his weakest potential opponent in the general election?

Commerce with all nations, alliance with none.--Thomas Jefferson

excellent point---

I like your insight. I could surely see Obama thinking this way... and (despite his obvious flaws) shows how political driven Barry and his team are... let's hope it backfires on him by keeping the Republican nomination process up in the air while RP gains the momentum to pull in more supporters.

Yes,

that crossed my mind too. They might have asked, "What could get Catholics to flock to Rick Santorum?" Either they figured Santorum would be easier to defeat than Romney or they still want Romney in the ring but bloodied up before hand.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

wow! I hadn't thought of that

I like it!

Dr.K.Research's picture

That is 100% correct, as has been said by some friends caucusing

in Minnesota. In several caucuses Catholic blocks came out, who had never caucused nor voted before.

how freaking sad. The country

how freaking sad. The country hangs on the edge....and the "good church people" only get fired up over condoms and birth control pills?

AnAppealToHeavenWash's picture

Catholics should pull a condom down over their heads.

Because a vote for anyone other than Ron Paul is a vote for corruption and influence.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

" Also, they've been

" Also, they've been "floating" around the idea of a brokered convention in which names like Jeb Bush (seriously?, yes) may be handed the nomination."

I don't get it. Somebody explain how somebody can just "be handed the nomination". You don't mean he could win the necessary delegate vote, do you?

A brokered convention

Is pretty much a "vote of no confidence" in anybody the candidates since nine got the needed majority. Thus, a new slate of options is brought in until someone gets 1144 votes.

so heres the deal as I understand it

if we have a brokered convention meaning that none of the candidates have the necessary 1144 delegates secured by the time of the convention. We will have vote, by the delegates who are at the conference of which are people who were elected by their states in their primary elections and Caucasus'

each candidate and their veep will be on a ticket for the delegates choosing.

say the first vote goes

644 Romney and Jaime Dimon
600 Paul and Tom Woods
544 Santorum and Glenn Beck
500 Gingrich and E.T.

if no one receives the 1144 needed at that point the candidates will re organize and offer a new veep or stay the same.

there will then be another vote.

Say

700 Romney and Michelle Obama
1000 Paul and Peter Schiff
588 Jeb Bush - John Boehner

and so on and so forth until someone receives the 1144 delegates needed to secure the nomination.

But i think also it can be more limited as in you only have one choice and you get to say yes or no. Someone please tell me if this is the case. nevertheless the concept would be the same.

Romney and Jaime Dimon 1000 yes 1288 No

next round

Romney and Michelle Obama 0 yes 2288 no

next round

Ron Paul and Peter Schiff 2288 yes and 0 No

Would love to see that campaign sign at an event.
