DES MOINES --- Raw milk could be sold and marketed in Iowa under a bill that unanimously passed through a House subcommittee Monday.

Supporters of the legislation, including the two Republicans and one Democrat on the panel, framed it as a question of personal freedom and consumer choice. Opponents said the potential problems of consuming non-pasteurized milk should convince lawmakers to keep it outlawed.

Authority?

It would be interesting to see the authority they use to claim authority to rule it legal/illegal. Where does this authority come from in their Constitution? It would be nice if reporters would cite the Constitutional authorities for things like this.

I can't imagine the founders of Iowa would ever have granted authority to the state to rule milk illegal. I worked on a cattle ranch for 2 years when I was 16/17 and drank raw milk every morning after milking the cows myself. If you never had it, it tastes like melted vanilla ice cream. It's actually much better than milk you buy at the store. I don't know if I would drink a glass of it, but it was good with cereal :)
