SANTORUM: "I fight against libertarian influence"

Santorum is the Anti-Paul.

In a Pennsylvania Press Club luncheon in Harrisburg last summer, Santorum declared, "I am not a libertarian, and I fight very strongly against libertarian influence within the Republican Party and the conservative movement." In that regard, writes Gene Healy, Santorum has a pretty impressive record.

Santorum == Only reason I vote for Obama

As much as I vehemently disagree with Obama, I will vote for Obama if I ever feel Frothy has a chance.

As so many here have

correctly implied....that by fighting against the libertarian influence, Santorum has perverted the very definition of conservatism.

Thanks to all who pointed this out by quoting Ronald Reagan. A man whose heart, generally speaking, was in the right place...but who also got co-opted by the whores in DC.

I have read

he was not the same after the assassination attempt.

Jim Rogers

Yes, the begging question always remains, "what was Reagan told

after that attempt?"

One can't help but surmise that he was advised that it was a "warning shot" and that he was lucky to not end up in the morgue.

It was no secret that Bush was the establishment pick and that he was put on the ticket against Reagan's wishes.

There are even some dirty connections between the Bushes and Hinkley. That alone raises alarm bells.

translation of the chickenhawk's words

santorum hates genuine constitutional limited-government conservatism, and favors the phoney neo-conservatism for which there is no clear definition. it can mean ANYTHING they want it to mean, even if it's something worse than what the democrats promote.

example: invading iran is "conservative". hoping for peace is "liberal".

this jerk

needs to take a hike. What is the opposite of a libertarian? Sounds like a marxist to me. F-ing bastard. I will resist the government if he takes office.

Individual Liberty

.....is Gay!
Rick Santorum

Every time i hear Ricks name

I think in his mind his is saying NUKEM NUKEM NUKEM DIE DIE KILL KILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When he talks about anyone or anything, he makes me alarmed when I see him possibly taking office, more then any other candidate> I see 4 more wars with Rickie and the potential of a nuke across the bow..

I see death.

Why do you think I call him

" Red Ricky" ? It's not because he's a conservative that's for sure !
He gives me the willies every time I see him, there's something very not right with Santorum that's just below the surface. Since I lived in PA during his hyjincks I've had plenty of opportunities to dislike Red Ricky. I normally don't go on gut feelings, but my feelings on him have always been " red alert" and " use extreme caution".

What's the opposite of a libertarian, Mr. Satorum?

Support freedom and liberty candidates in 2012... Ron Paul... Gary Johnson...

Libertarians will remove the money from government work. you might have to get a REAL job.

This idiot is too funny. Can we get someone to find out if he's funded by Saturday Night Live or Punked?

Well tricky Ricky let's see what Reagan said

Ronald Reagan stated, "I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism"

Is there video of that anywhere?

That could be incredibly useful...

By definition:

Libertarianism is a term describing philosophies which emphasize freedom, individual liberty, voluntary association and respect of property rights. Based on these, libertarians advocate a society with small or no government power.

I would say his admission is quite accurate.

“The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.” Ron Paul - The Revolution

Santorum the Meddler,

the article sums it well -
"Santorum, whose agenda rests on meddling with other people, sometimes with laws, sometimes with aircraft carrier groups".
he is the candidate of the pro-war lobby, + the bankster$.

"...the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism."

If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals -- if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.

RONALD REAGAN, Reason Magazine, Jul. 1, 1975

I think we need a commercial

I think we need a commercial that shows a clip of Frothy announcing that he is a Reagan Conservative and then takes this quote by Reagan followed by the quote by Santorum about combating libertarian influence.

Sounds right

"I fight very strongly against libertarian influence"...that would be, those who wish to be left alone by your government thugs, eh Ricky?

Yep, that's sounds about right. That's exactly what you're fighting against.

Is he talking about

this libertarian influence.

I may watch the whole thing later...

But is there a point in the speech when he talks about libertarianism?

1964!

unbelieveable!

One more reason to oppose Big Government loving Santorum

What a load of Santorum. What an completely stupid thing for Santorum to say. What a complete idiot. Its just one more reason for every American to vehemently oppose this scoundrel. As if any actual conservative actually needed a reason to oppose Mr. Big Government Rick "I love debt" Santorum.

In other words,
Santorum is proudly boasting that he fights against the founders influence,
Santorum fights against the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence and principles of limited government,
Santorum fights against the influence of folks like Jefferson, Washington, George Mason, Patrick Henry, Paine, Franklin, Sam Adams, and many more,
Santorum fights against the influence of great philosophers like Locke, Bastiat, Adam Smith, Voltaire.

Santorum is a dangerous fool who stands in opposition to the very values upon which this nation was founded. Perhaps he might find the kingdom of Saudi Arabia or Cuba or North Korea more in line with his big government political belief system.

Let it not be said that we did nothing.-Ron Paul
Stand up for what you believe in, even if you stand alone.-Sophia Magdalena Scholl

What was the scandal in PA called re Santorum? Yard signs

Yard signs sprung up with the "name" that had been assigned to it?

FOX NATION may still have "most conservative" poll up, and Santorum winning; RP second. If Fox voters think HE's CONSERVATIVE?

Regardless, I ABHOR SNOBS and HYPOCRITS - and Santorum meets the definition. Would NOT do anything about the NDAA/UNPatriotic Act, and in fact, would INCREASE the control over what we do in our private lives!
(Wish I could find the u-tube video where he talks about "overseeing what goes on in our bedrooms"!) And he, considered so 'conservative' (HA!) and supported by those claiming to be the Regligious Right, ABSOLUTELY has not lived by the same rules he'd impose on everyone else. A personal matter between him and his wife, and I feel I have no right to share...except to say that when it came time to choose whether SHE lived........ They made a decision to save her.
