Ron Paul’s Last Hurrah-To Run Third Party by Justin Raimondo

by Justin Raimondo • February 13, 2012 • Printer-friendly

At this point it is clear that Rep. Ron Paul is not going to be the presidential nominee of the Republican Party. Yet it seems likely that he will outlast all his rivals but for Romney, and that he will have a substantial bloc of delegates at the convention. Paul has the money, and the grassroots support, to make it all the way to Tampa—and beyond.

It’s when we get to the “beyond,” however, that things get interesting.

What, exactly, is Paul’s endgame? What does he want? This is the question the pundits are asking, and the answer is maddeningly elusive.

While I don't agree with Justin's premise that Ron Paul...

is NOT going to be the GOP nominee, I do agree that we should cover all bases. Quite frankly, the reason I believe Ron Paul will be the GOP nominee is NOT because the GOP is interested in winning, but because the GOP establishment has been outed as the vile, corrupt tool of the bankers and the MIC. GOP incumbents are going to find themselves increasingly challenged, either by third party candidates or write-in protests. They know a win of less than 53% makes them vulnerable to a strong challenger in the next election and it also limits the number of bribes they will receive from the banksters and MIC. The Republican Party once dominated Chicago politics.
http://encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/1063.html

“Vote early, vote often” is a quote variously attributed to three different Chicagoans: Al Capone, the famous gangster; Richard J. Daley, mayor from 1955 to 1976; and William Hale Thompson, mayor from 1915-1923 and 1931-1935. All three were notorious for their corruption and their manipulation of the democratic process. It is most likely that Thompson invented the phrase, and Capone and Daley later repeated it.

"William Hale Thompson (May 14, 1869 – March 19, 1944) was Mayor of Chicago from 1915 to 1923 and again from 1927 to 1931. Known as "Big Bill", Thompson was the LAST Republican to serve as Mayor of Chicago, and ranks among the most unethical mayors in American history."

Contact the Libertarian Party, and ask if

they are on all 50 State ballots. If they are, then this 3rd party bolt makes a lot more sense. I can imagine a tsunami wave of disgruntled people ready to listen to the real Ron Paul without all the media and GOP filters.

Justin asks, where does the R3VOLution go?

http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2012/02/12/what-now/

After reading his excellent essay, I cannot help but think that direction must be to grow ALSO inside that other "shell" as Rand Paul calls it, the Democratic Party.

We need RP Democrats and RP Republicans to "compete" for the same office.

When Ron Paul Democrat "competes" with a Ron Paul Republican, liberty wins. Its our R3VOLution's way of getting a "win-win".

Moreover, I think we will be amazed at how "acceptable" our ideas will be inside the DNC. They, like Republican voters, do not care so much about the issues as much as "winning!".

Indeed, this is how the War Party "owns" both parties, its win-win for them all the time.

Think about it.

Invest in Liberty, one Apartment deal at a time with me. Get a check each month as a passive investor, just ask me how.

Imagine a man with a gun held at holster level

and close to his body (aimed right at you).

Now imagine you need to get to that gun before he shoots you but you must start 5 feet back.

You would run in circles as he slowly adjusts his gun to re-tartet you -- it's impossible, only by "luck" will you not get shot and get in close enough to disarm him (assuming you know how to disarm a gun when you get there).

This is the EXACT scenario we face as individualists -- they create the vehicle of change (voting and lobbying) and we think we can out-play them (at their own game -- they are the dealer, the house, the security, and the printers of currency).

Nope -- If we want a free-market we must employ free-market means to de-throne them.

I read the article

Nothing new.

Let's face it -- if Paul ran 3rd Party we'd all join in, so why bluster over it? We're "easy" that way.

I've said before that most DPers and most RPers do not understand "why" we are in this mess nor has there been any effort to rectify it by free-market means ONLY by means of the bully-pulpit and ballot box (created by capitalists and corporatists -- hahahaha).

You cannot have liberty by the means "they" create for you -- it's their means (method); it's like trying to out "noogy" your older brother! Until your mind and body are superior or equal to there's no victory.

Entrepreneurialism
Education / Mentorship
Innovation

These are "our" means -- those who cannot act or think at that level should be "ruled over" and have been so since the beginning of time and a general election is not going to eliminate that.

Bump

for more.

Ron Paul is not going to run

Ron Paul is not going to run 3rd party, you think it is hard now? It will be worse as a 3rd party.

What surprises me Bobby is that you are a moderator here you should be more nuetral but you constantly push the 3rd party propaganda here, may I ask why?

If the GOP is not going to let him win you think the RNC GOP and the DNC are going to let him win as a 3rd party?

Bobby is a moderator?

Wow. That's disheartening. He gets more down-voted threads than anyone I've seen. His posts always seem to be divisive/controversial. What's going on with that?

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater!

Listen to what this guy is saying. The GOP is not going to let Ron Paul win. Period. When you accept that, then it's time to alter the course. Isn't that obvious? They have made it openly clear that Ron Paul will not represent the GOP. Fine. Keep your corrupt party. The GOP is Ron Paul's WORST enemy. The media doesn't really care, they're just bending to the pressures of the GOP hacks and thier minions. The Libertarian Party is on the ballot already in all States. That's right. Now all you need are voters. How about trying to tap into that mega block of 80% who say they've had it with the 2 party system? That's a marketer's DREAM! I can see champion money raising events from all 50 States to ensure media coverage. Gary Johnson step down to VP in favor of Paul heading the ticket. Screw the GOP. If American's don't wake up for Ron Paul, it's not going to matter much longer anyway. I say swing for the home run!

By the way, this is why it is

By the way, this is why it is so stupid of those blow-dried talking heads to keep asking Paul if he will run as a third-party candidate.

For the last time...he is NOT

For the last time...he is NOT going to run as a third party. A BILLIONAIRW couldn't get any more than a "spoiler" tag placed on him.

Someone who desperately needed a $5 million moneybomb today and will end up short of $1 million sure as hell is not going to get anywhere.

You think Ron Paul has a hard time getting mic time at debates now? Well, he won't get invited to the Presidential debates as a third party.

Back again?

Lakawak has been called out in the thread above. Don't feed it.

"Criticizing Ron Paul for not passing bills in Congress is like criticizing a nun in a whore house for not turning tricks. He was there to stop the "whoring," not become one!" ~ Blake Buffington

Actually, it is a very good article.

Maybe people don't want to hear that message right now. What the future holds by the end of this race is as elusive as the "endgame" Raimondo writes about.

I liked the line in the article refering to the fact that we won't go along with any other GOP nominee:

His followers are just like him: principled, cantankerous, and uninterested in merging with the “mainstream.”

That just about sums me up.

I agree, very good article

Please don't down vote this thread until you read the article. Thanks for posting. I thought it was a very accurate account of politics today.

It is a good article.

Although I can see some apparent newbies to the liberty movement trashing it as if it was pap from CNN, instead of a thoughtful column written by a longtime supporter of Ron Paul, who has an anti-war libertarian pedigree as long as your arm.

I will say Raimondo is premature. It's anyone's race at this point.

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA

It's a wonderful article...

if you can get past the very first sentence.

by Justin Raimondo • February 13, 2012 • Printer-friendly

At this point it is clear that Rep. Ron Paul is not going to be the presidential nominee of the Republican Party.

How can you justify this article as being good? That first sentence, the one that sets the tone and is the first opportunity to engage a reader's mind, how can you call that good?

Hey, I've made plenty of mistakes in my life and I do not purport to know everything, but I need your help explaining how the first line of that piece is "good".

I'm tired of reading through written pieces trying to scrounge for something "good", positive or favorable. When I read that first sentence, that tells me most of what I need to know. I read the rest to determine the magnitude of the bonehead who wrote it.

"Criticizing Ron Paul for not passing bills in Congress is like criticizing a nun in a whore house for not turning tricks. He was there to stop the "whoring," not become one!" ~ Blake Buffington

His point was

that there is no way this corrupt GOP would ever allow Ron Paul to win.

Why do you continue to buy into all these bullshit "news"

stories?

You either believe Ron Paul can accumulate enough delegates to win the nomination or you don't.

If you believe any of the first line of this trash "At this point it is clear that Rep. Ron Paul is not going to be the presidential nominee of the Republican Party." then why freakin' bother?

How is this helping? I wish you would have knocked on as many doors handing out Super Brochures as you have posted threads of this bullshit!

But thanks man. You're gonna vote Ron Paul in your primary. Thanks! It's all good.

Stop promoting Propaganda

I am sick and tired of folks talking about Dr. Paul running 3rd party, especially after he's expressed many times this is not his intentions. Everyone should know by now what kind of coverage you will get if you try to buck the system and go 3rd party. NO INTERVIEWS, NO VOICE, NOTHING.
Oh, maybe a jab from the pundits, now and then, like that's nothing new. You have absolutely NO CHANCE to win in this country by going outside the 2 party BOX.
The established GOP and Establishment sure would like for this LIBERTY REVOLUTION to go that route. We are taking over the G-D Damn Republican PARTY, wE ARE GOING TO HOLD THEIR ELFIN FEET TO THE FIRE, WE ARE GOING TO BE STRONG AND DOMINANT IN TAMPA, AND WE SURE AS HELL (AIN'T) GONNA GO 3RD PARTY. WE ARE THE FORCE TO BE RECONED WITH.
If they want to be BIG Government, BIG Spenders, (Pro) Pre-emptive WAR-Mongers...then, let the start THEIR OWN Party.
We are the REAL REPUBLICANS, and We are taking it back from the Neo-Cons. I'm sure this is the kind of attitude Dr. Paul and the Campaign wants from all his supporters.
We are not going anywhere.
It's high time they recognized us.

Exactly….
