I Actually Like Rick Santorum

For one reason and one reason only...

Rick Santorum was in dead last about a month ago, and now he's beating Mitt Romney in the latest national polls even though he's broke. This bodes very well for Ron Paul in the coming months ahead.

Rick Romney, err...Rick Santorum proves one thing: Hell CAN freeze over. Anything is possible, and Santorum proves how the republican presidential race is completely up for grabs and totally wide open for the duration of the cycle.

Romney has peaked and is now slowly descending. Newt's in dead last in all the polls. Who'd of thought that 3 weeks ago? January 21st was the date of the South Carolina primary, and here we are 3 weeks later. My oh my how things can change in a matter of 21 days....

Now it's Rick Santorum's turn to rise and fall...

A lot can happen in 3 weeks, just ask Mitt and Newt.

Meanwhile, Ron Paul is slowly plodding along, winning most of the delegates, getting cheated by the MSM and robbed by the GOP at every turn but he keeps on a truckin' and ascending - his polling numbers keep going up. His political track time every quarter mile keeps getting better....36% with a GIANT asterisk next to it in Maine.

I thought Ron Paul's glass ceiling was 10%? Then it was 15% Then it was 20% Then it was 25% Now it's over 36% and climbing.

Ron knows how to pace himself in a long race. This isn't a sprint, it's a marathon.

Timing is everything - especially right before Super Tuesday which is 3 weeks away from today. Just a coincidence...

If Rick Santorum is the GOP leader now, just imagine what this race is going to look like come the end of summer when most of the American people (who aren't political junkies like ourselvs) start to actually pay attention to the race, and gasoline is almost $5 a gallon.

The political climate changes quickly in 2012.

Ron Paul must attack

Santorum's record of supporting Planned Parenthood, pro-abortion politician (Arlen Spector) while he professes to be pro-life. I'm tired of the hypocrisy.
Also, Santorum is on the board of trustees at Penn State and approved of an award for Sandusky to receive after Sandusky was reported to be involved with molesting boys.

Ron needs to be more aggressive.

In fundraising Santorum is dead last:

He's merely being propped up by the media in an attempt to stop us. He has no real supporters compared to us.

Wrong.. he makes these

Wrong.. he makes these superficial surges (always at very convienent moments) but never cashes in. Iowa was good for him, then nothing. Then he won three states, but Paul still the most delegates and falls behind in Maine. That's the best he can hope for, small bumps in small states with some hardline christians that are still willing to be pandered to. That's his platform, the social values/angry christian thing. That used to be a great platform... problem is. This time around, it's not. "It's the economy, stupid." Gingrich is dead in the water, Santorum still barely afloat.

What he can count on, however, is the other campaigns and the media going after him. So far, Newt has gotten the most of that attention, but the spotlight is now on Rick. And you don't even have to get into his personal dirt, his actual record as a senator is bad enough.

by whose count?

No one really knows until the

No one really knows until the convention, so it's still anyone's game. Perceptions will influence those decision-makers though.

Support freedom and liberty candidates in 2012... Ron Paul... Gary Johnson...

Yeah that's the problem..

Yeah that's the problem.. whose count can you trust?

But here's the race as I see it:

Romney: "Why am I not winning?"
Santorum: "Why am I winning?"
Newt: "Where is my money I need to win?"
Ron Paul: "End the fed?" *crowd goes wild, throws moneybombs at him*

The major difference between

The major difference between Santorum and Ron Paul as far as who is "winning" is Santorum has had the media announcing "Santorum Surge" every time we turn around. People want to vote for what they perceive as a "winner." Also -- Santorum has not yet been vetted by the other candidates. This poster is correct in saying much can happen in 3 weeks -- wait until the claws come out against Santorum.

Also keep in mind -- Santorum CAN NOT win against Obama.

There is a group of people in

There is a group of people in this country who are deathly scared of their "Christian culture" fading away. They want to impose their morals on everyone else. They throw away facts, logic, and science, and treat their religious leaders as Gods.

These people will always gravitate towards Santorum and will flee from Paul.

On other issues, you can always argue that Paul will do better. He will have more job growth. More tax cuts. More balanced budgets. Etc.

But on these social issues, that isn't an argument. Ron Paul seeks to impose no morality on anyone. He is against trying to convert people abroad, against the war on drugs, is the most liberal candidate on gay marriage, and is the least conservative candidate amongst Republicans on abortion. He's the least bible-thumping guy of them all...

So you'll never be able to sway people like that to RP's side...you have to make them see that their views are wrong. That is the path to victory, and it is a long one.

Specific cuts; defense spending: http://rolexian.wordpress.com/2011/01/03/more-detailed-look-a

Also...

Paul is the epitome of "conservatism." He is so far right that people think he's left. We do not need to convince bible-thumping Christians that they're "wrong," we need to convince them that they're progressives... which is ironically a cuss-word to most of them.

Hhmmm...

"...and is the least conservative candidate amongst Republicans on abortion..."

You do realize that Paul is the only Republican candidate with a realistic and legitimate plan to end Roe v Wade, don't you? How being so pro-life that he actually has an action plan to prove it is the "least conservative amongst Republicans on abortion" is beyond me. Not sure where you're coming from on this one. :-/

This is how I sway people -

What would Jesus do? Who is the biggest proponent of free will? Who is the Prince of Peace? Ask those three questions and you would be amazed how it changes the perspective of people and how Ron Pauls stance becomes quite clear.

Just so you get the facts....

about Ron Paul and his spirituality, search the name,Justin Machacek on this site.Ron Paul is a scripture abiding Christian, whose life and commitment to this nation and people is unmatched by anyone. However, unlike other politicians,he doesn't wear his religion on his sleeve,or use it to gain more votes. You are so far off base,it's unbelievable. In the future,do your homework, before you speak of things you know nothing about.

I think what he meant

(if I may humbly interject) is that people are so spiritually weak and so bereft of godly knowledge that superficial Christianese[Christian buzzwords] will sway them verses truly understanding that godly actions speak louder than empty words.

Santorum calls his campaign the Faith, Family and Freedom Tour , Gingrich writes a book called Rediscovering God in America, and people are sold.

We who have eyes to see and ears to hear, understand that this is all window dressing. Many, many do not. South Carolina (where I live) was a huge punch in the gut for me and my family when Gingrich won. Mind blowing but try and tell the Christians here that they can vote for someone that doesn't wear their faith on their sleeve - all you get is a blank stare.

Keep praying.

SC Results were Indicative

I'm also from SC,and it was a huge disappointment to me that so many Christians here voted for a man like Gingrich. Are they just too lazy to do their homework,or do they just follow each other around like a bunch of headless chickens ??I admire Dr.Paul's decision not use his religion to gain votes, however,we are dealing with many headless chickens that have yet to vote, and they need to know the truth about his Christianity.I wish Paul would reveal more in the debates,to show people how his Christianity rules his decision making.I realize that we, as Christians, need be his ambassadors on this issue, and many are joining this cause,in the blogs, and as journalists. There is hope.

I wish...

that I didn't agree with your synopsis of the "Christian right". Although I think the more Santorum rises, the more will come out, and the more the "christian right" can find not to like. He's pretty open about hating liberty. What about all the troops who've died because of faulty body armor?

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom — go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and

This is why

the latest brouhaha over the contraceptive issue can help to show Christians that agitating for Federal laws to restrict certain behaviours, like same sex marriage and drugs, can backfire if those with a different moral agenda do the same thing.

As you say it is a reaction to the secularisation of society. Politicians like Santorum can then exploit this fear to gain power. This contraception gambit by Obama won't go away. It can definitely help us to show Christians that following the Constitution is the best safeguard they have. This kind of situation is exactly what the founding fathers sought to prevent; it was what they had escaped from in Europe.

Yes, it's a pretty inconsistent

worldview. They pay no attention to Christs admonitions to not live by the sword and to love their enemies, even the Golden Rule. They are very Old Testament eye for an eye believers. They do not understand that a lot of the mess we are in is the result of their weak faith in Gods teaching and laws and strong faith in men of government creating their earthly paradise where everyone shares their values...or else. They don't get that the sword of force can be taken from them and used against them. Some of the most hate filled posts I have ever seen are againt Ron Paul from so-called "Christians". Of course, some I am sure are plants from various agencies and countries but they seem to hold to this view. They refuse to judge Santorums record and history, just his blathering on about "family". Just his Sandusky connection creeps me out enough.

santorum

Just saw the latest so-called polls on abc news.

Santorum/Romney around 30%

Paul 12%

Gingrich 10%

This being said, Santorum has raised about 4 million in the past week according to abc.

P.s. this guy is no Christian imo.

donvino

So called is right.

These polls are framed to suit whomever is paying for them in my opinion. In most cases this would be the establishment.

The statements by Frank Luntz prove this point and there are other confirmations that the questions are changed when the individual being questioned indicates a preference for Ron Paul.

They probably throw in an occasional Paul rise just to get us all excited then drop the hammer. I wouldn't put it past them to play these games. This is I believe how they get their jollies.

After all if they have all the power how do they amuse themselves? Other than killing people that is.

The only way to win is word of mouth. Person to person. One convert at a time. Otherwise we play their game and it is rigged. Thank God for the Internet.

Who is the 4 million from?

Any stats?

No source unfortunately

ABC as usual just threw that out there to give the appearance of a Santorum surge.

It was on the ABC national television very early morning news

They might of well just said 10 million lol

Santorum passes my one issue test

I may not like him but he is the only other anti-TARP person up there. Hank Paulson is the devil.

Great ad

Too bad it doesn't mention his endorsement of Arlen Spector over Toomey in PA. Spectors vote gave us Obamacare.Talk about betrayal.

It's not the "Santorum Surge"

It's not the "Santorum Surge" It's the Bible Belt Bigots saying "We really do hate Mormons" And through all of this so far, they're treating Ron like he's never been to Church and he's into black magic.

I can't stand mormon bashing, anymore than I would be able to stand race bigotry, when we are trying to restore the republic back to the freedoms we once had.

Now fat people, like Newt, that's fair game! haha!!

Leave Us Alone and Bring the Troops Home

Santorum wants to turn the US

Santorum wants to turn the US into a Christian theocracy.

I'm a Christian and he makes ME hate Christians. I now see why people have a misguided view of us. He displays an intolerant and unintelligent viewpoint of those who don't believe what we (as Christians) believe.

Our country was founded on freedom (of choice, speech, etc.) and I feel like Rick wants to take that away because he maintains the "it's my way or the highway" mentality.

God is probably shaking his head in disbelief that someone in the public light would so staunchly misrepresent his views.
