Leaked Email: Military Top Brass Tell Troops Not To March In Ron Paul Rally
Submitted by shifty1032231 on Fri, 02/17/2012 - 13:24An email leaked by multiple active duty personnel shows that the military has issued a warning to troops encouraging them not to take part in the upcoming Veterans for Ron Paul 2012 march in Washington on Monday.
The email, posted to the group’s facebook event page and sent to organiser Adam Kokesh by several unconfirmed sources, lays out several directives on participation in political events by active and non active duty military.
Referring to the event as a “partisan political march”, the insinuation is clear – any active duty personnel, whether in uniform or not, and any reservists marching in uniform or otherwise deemed to be endorsing Ron Paul, could be reprimanded.
The email, apparently sent by Joel A. Weger, Senior Attorney at the Office of the Assistant General Counsel (Ethics) in the Department of the Navy, was sent on high importance and warns recipients “You may wish to advise your command regarding this particular event because of the apparent solicitation of active duty personnel”.

As a reminder, active duty personnel are prohibited by DoD Directive 1344.10 paragraph 4.1.2.10 from marching in a partisan political parade regardless of whether they are in uniform or civilian clothes. Reservists not on active duty and retirees may not march in uniform pursuant to paragraph 4.1.4. Reservists not on active duty and retirees may march in civilian clothes provided that they do not otherwise act in a manner that could reasonably give rise to the inference or appearance of official sponsorship, approval, or endorsement.
The directive is a lawful general regulation. Violations of paragraphs 4.1.
through 4.5. of the Directive by persons subject to the Uniform Code of
Military Justice are punishable under Article 92, “Failure to Obey Order or
Regulation.”In addition, DODI 1334.01, paragraph 3.1.2 prohibits the wearing of the uniform by members of the armed forces (including retired members and members of reserve components) during or in connection with political activities.
You may wish to advise your command regarding this particular event because of the apparent solicitation of active duty personnel.

i think a lot of people here are missing an important point. Not all "NEWS" is covered or reported. Sure, some independent news sources may report these items, but until the MSM covers it 95% of America won't notice/care/believe.
If the tyrant in chief issues an executive order to round up all of the vets and remove all veteran benefits, and discharge all active duty personal who participate, THE MEDIA WILL NOT COVER IT.

I don't want to discourage people to participate and i hope they do, but be prepared to stand up for yourselves and your rights as free human beings.

Definition of "march"
I looked it up.
Paragraph 4.1.2.10 says, "A member of the Armed Forces on active duty shall not... [m]arch or ride in a partisan political parade."
If you are not in step with anyone else and no one ever called you to attention, is it still considered marching? I would have to do more research to see if the word "marching" has a legal definition elsewhere, but it appears to me that "walking" would still be perfectly legitimate.
I would say that, according to this, so long as you are not called into formation by anyone acting in an official military capacity, then you are not marching. So as long as you are not riding on any type of vehicle or "marching," then walking, skipping, plodding, hiking, etc. are all perfectly permissible.
Of course, I don't want to get anyone in trouble, so please don't take this as legal advise. However, if anyone tried to reprimand me for disobeying this directive when I was in the military, I would use this as my defense.

I haven't read all the details on what is planned. So if they do "maneuvers" like that, then they'd probably have a harder time making a defense.
Well, each person has to decide what he/she feels is worth fighting for and what is not. Some servicemen/women will not feel that this is worth risking the possible repercussions. Others will face them head on and be willing to face any backlash that may come.
Hopefully, the powers that be will let a peaceful statement take place and realize that it isn't a good idea to destroy the careers of military members who actually take their oath to defend the Constitution seriously.

The military takes many liberties such as this
The military engrains a culture of teaching service members that somehow, when they sign up for the military, they forfeit all Constitutional and legal rights. They do tell people that they may not participate in political events, although technically all you need to say is that your presence does not represent an endorsement of the US Army/Navy/Marines/Air Force. If you notice, the heads of all branches of the armed forces were present at the State of the Union address, which amounted to nothing more than an Obama campaign event.
But it doesn't stop there. The military forces members to take all kinds of inoculations, and of course forced medication is illegal. You also may have your belongings searched at any moment for any reason whatsoever. You are also subject to telephone and email monitoring.

If there are a thousand vets and/or active troops...
What, seriously, can they do? Spray vets with toxic chemicals? set off smoke? turn firehoses upon them? Do they think for a second that a bystanding crowd of supportive friends and relatives would not furiously turn on them? that ALL AMERICANS would not FURIOUSLY turn on them? Our peaceful revolution may not be so peaceful if they threaten our troops with injury.
If they try to "round up" some examples (because somehow I doubt that 1000 vets could be rounded up very easily), can't we do a money bomb to provide legal representation for our troops? And would they even try to do this? I somehow doubt, with cameras on every military or ex-military man and woman in the march, that Obama would launch a public offensive against those marching. I believe he would receive such an outpouring of wrath from every serviceman/woman's family and circle of acquaintance that he would find his approval rating drop into the single digits.
As for uniforms, who needs them. Adam Kokesh has already indicated on his site that those participating in the march need to present proof of service prior to joining formation. America will know that, too, and know that these brave individuals are choosing to obey that rule and demonstrate their loyalty to their country and the Constitution.
I am worried for those servicemen/women who march because of this e-mail, but I will help them if they need help.
