We All Must Learn About Grand Juries as Means to Enforce Constitution

In addition to supporting the candidacy of Dr. Paul by becoming delegates, we must learn about Grand Juries. They are a means of enforcing the Constitution.

Some excellent seminars are on Youtube. One is by Red Beckman. Another series features Ron Paul. It is called "Power of the Jury", and Dr. Paul says that it is about "what judges and lawyers don't want you to know".

These are interesting to watch and are a good use of time over the weekend. Sometimes it comes down to one person on a Grand Jury who is willing to take a stand for Liberty. With laws like the NDAA we cannot afford to be ignorant.

U.S. Grand Jury Reform

There are links and more info at the link above.

malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

I am an aristocrat. I love liberty; I hate equality. - John Randolph of Roanoke

Seems to me like one person has much more influence in a trial

(petit) jury, where a unanimous verdict is usually required. My understanding is a grand jury only requires a majority of jurors to return a "true bill" or "no bill". The typical joke is that a good prosecutor can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich.

Until I researched this, I was unaware that grand juries only exist in about half of the States.

Some states (via their constitutions) empower jurors to be both triers of the facts and the law - but don't expect anyone wearing a robe to charge the jury with that knowledge.

The point about the power of a jury is important, and I would refer anyone interested to www.fija.org, the Fully Informed Jury Association for more information.
