I always...
I always watch the debates using the New York Time's Analyzing the Details tool, you can watch these January the 5th ABC debates over at their website (you can easily skip through sections and read the transcript). I can definitely recommend watching it this way.
wonderful debate performance
Ron Paul was right on:
1) He was the only one who didn't turn personal
2) He made his points clearly
I continue to be amazed that he willingly continues to speak his mind KNOWING that these snickers are all around him. He has more courage than the rest of these guys combined.
Over the next month (certainly post Super Tuesday) most of these others will disappear. We can ensure Dr. Paul continues because we will fund him. Eventually The debates will be between Dr. Paul and one other -- thus giving more opportunity to be heard.
Let us all stay focussed -- and take the lead from Dr. Paul. He has consistently delivered this message for thirty years. That is patience. We cannot complain that no one is listening because of the current day-to-day freak show. This will take commitment and patience.
Taking the High-Road
Last night, Ron Paul was the only candidate who did not ridicule or attack another candidate. He only politely waited his turn, gave logical answers and even asked rhetorical questions his opponents wanted nothing to do with. This to me is a sign of strength; it is another example of Ron Paul taking the high-road.
As I watched the other candidates snicker and laugh and not let Dr. Paul finish his answers I was upset they would treat him this way, but then it dawned on me this is what they do best -- go on the offense -- bully others to get their way. If they would only listen to Ron Paul in their treatment of each other -- follow the Golden Rule. There will be BLOW BACK for their behavior -- eventually it WILL happen. Then I asked myself -- why do they need to bully Ron Paul -- the answer -- because they FEAR him. They FEAR his message -- they FEAR his support and their initial reaction -- just as it would be in the whitehouse is to go on the attack.
We must not stop taking Ron Paul's lead. We must continue to spread his message taking the high-road. "Let there be peace on Earth...and let it begin with me."
"There is nothing to fear, but fear itself."

Debate
it is a tag team of sorts. how many half wits against dr. paul? the big question remains, is america full of half wits willing to buy the misinformation from the half wits?
the process is so skewed against dr. paul. war and all the crap sells so much better on cnn, fox, etc than hope, freedom, peace and prosperity - the message of dr. paul. maybe this is why the wrong doings of the u.s.'s foreign policy will lead to moral and economic decay of the empire to bring it to its knees. maybe china won't have to go to war to have influence on the u.s. by then it just might own it.
After watching a segment discussing Hilliaroid's likeability...
I could only wonder that if she's selected, err, elected - who would be the first lady?

Big Lie - Humble Foriegn Policy
During the debate it was suggested that Bush had to change his foriegn policy after the attacks on 911. Everything changed. I was hoping Dr. Paul would point out the fact that Bush, during his first month in the White House called together his cabinet and began considering justification to attack Iraq. 911 was not the cause of the change in policy, rather the excuse for Bush and the NeoCons to implement thier ultimate goal. The NeoCons openly wrote about transforming the middle east, and needed a Pearl Harbor like event to set their plans in action.
We are not over there fighting terrorism, we are there to destroy those nations and steel thier oil. In December 2003 I participated in a US Ambassador's Conference at HQ USEUCOM, in Germany. All the US Ambassador's from the Caspian Region and the Senior Military in the European Command met to discuss the issues at stake. The name of the conference was "Hydrocarbon Infrastructure Protection Program." In otherwords, Protect the Oil Program. They had maps showing the entire middle east, depicting existing and future oil pipe lines and names of all the oil companies involved in this plan.
It angers me to hear the MSM and NeoCons saying we are spreading Democracy and fighting the Global War on Terrorism. If you think we have created a crisis by going into the Middle East, wait till we get fully engaged in Africa. As we speak the US Africa Command is being created and deployed. Both the west and China are competing heavily to control this continent.
We must put a stop to this madness. Although I wish Dr. Paul would speak more about this, I understand how the MSM and NeoCons would use this to thier advantage. This is why we must spread the word ourselves.
I sincerely believe this is our last chance at a peacefull, political revolution.

recurring theme
I'm still in the middle of watching this debate from start to finish on http://www.youdecide2008.com/2008/01/06/video-abc-news-repub... but there is one recurring theme that I just don't get. Everyone seems hell-bent on being the strongest nation on earth. What good is there in being strong if you aren't FREE?
Ron Paul is the only one saying that we give the terrorists an excuse to attack by being in their space and sticking our nose into their business. Everyone else keeps repeating more of the same: "it's a different world; having soldiers over there keeps us safe here," etc., but NO ONE explains HOW keeping soldiers in Iraq (or elsewhere on earth) keeps us safe at home. How does keeping soldiers overseas prevent a biological warfare attack on US soil? Or any attack for that matter? I really wish someone would EXPLAIN instead of expect us "morons" to bob our heads blindly in agreement.
Jesus is my Lord and my God, and Ron Paul, champion of all things freedom, including religion and the free exercise thereof, is my choice for president.
recurring theme
I am being synical but feel the need to make this point -- so when our nation collapses financially and we are no longer the strongest nation on Earth -- the terrorists won't want to attack us any more? problem solved
Mom / Wife / Teacher / Christian for Ron Paul
I just don't get it
Radical Islamic Terrorists - Ron consistantly states that they do not attack us because we are free - they attack us because of our foriegn policy. Yet, Mitt Romney sits there shuffling in his seat, disputing that claim, and talking about how we must help Muslims fight their enemy.
Rudy says that Dr. Paul's policy is FLAWED.
This is my question.
Are we the only DEMOCRATIC Nation in the WORLD?
No - So my question is "Why aren't the other DEMOCRATIC nations attacked by Radical Islamic Terrorists?"
they do
Please keep some perspective here. These anti-civilization mobs do attack other democracies...Great Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy, others. Of course, this doesn't justify in any way invading Iraq, but don't fool yourself about the jidadists. Please recall these are the people who destroyed the great Giant Buddha statues at Bamayan in Afghanistan months before 9/11. This storm was coming.
We were attacked by a sub-government in Afghanistan supported by the so-called real government (Taliban) who were propped up by Islamists in the Pakistan Army and ISI (their CIA). We had every right to go after them...but our Congress should have declared war against them, that's what the Constitution calls for, not these sneaky ways to get into war.
America would have supported that. America would NOT have supported invading Iraq and forcing Congress to declare war on Iraq would have put a stop to that plan.
They do
The vestiges of European colonialism still linger today. It's obviously true that other European countries have been attacked, but there is still a lot of animosity among the former colonies towards their old masters. That is not going away, and our continued support of those same old failed policies probably just makes it look like the same play, different actors to a lot of these people.
don't buy the propaganda!
don't buy the old corporate media propaganda!
We attack people in just about every country too! In fact, we have our noses in just about every conflict going on right now - often times supporting BOTH sides (Iran contra ring a bell?)
And that thing about the Buddhist statues was way overblown - the Taliban themselves said they blew it up because people all over the world were so concerned about the statutes, willing to fork out loads of $ to save them... while Afghanis were dying from starvation, no concern for the people.
The so-called Islamists are only a few hundred perhaps - as Ron Paul says - and they have grown because of America's actions. Take Iraq - no al Qaeda there until WE invaded (bin Laden & Saddam were enemies).
If we would stop propping up dictators in Muslim / Arab countries there would be even less.

exactly! and Romney has the audacity
to tell Ron Paul (the MOST EDUCATED re Foreign policy - heck, probably re anything!) - among them) that HE needs "a thorough understanding" of "radical Islam"
Are these candidates seeking the highest office in the country (and ultimately in the world), THAT ignorant??
Do they not read what people like Scott Ritter, Michael Scheuer, Chalmers Johnson et al write? These are the people in the know!
Are that many Americans really so dumbed down?
They'll elect one of these war mongers so that the voters' own children are sent off to the slaughter?

'cause
other democratic nations don't meddle over there like we do, toppling elected leaders, bombing, occupying. WE supported Saddam Hussein, we sold him his biological agents, we installed the Shah who oppressed Iranians for over 20 years. Most Americans don't know or don't believe this stuff, but Arabs who are at the short of the stick certainly do. That doesn't mean every Arab wants to strap a bomb to his chest and blow something up, but there are a tiny few who will, and more and more Arabs resent the US everyday we are over there violating Iraqi sovereignity.
Americans shouldn't underestimate the length of the collective memory of Muslims. When Bush Sr. started dropping bombs in Baghdad, the headline in some Arab papers was "al-Salabiyya!" ... which means, "crusade".
Also, this is a fine point, but the US isn't a democracy - or at least it wasn't supposed to be. It's a constitutional republic. ;-)
What if you install a Democracy
-
and after all the lives and money are spent,
they elect a radical Mullah?
Bad plan

The Lasting Image from that debate
I can't get that Dem & GOP lovefest out of my head.
Body language tells you a lot & it was clearly obvious that Dr Paul's supposedly loyal Party members are united much more closely with their fellow CFR members than with their fellow Constitutionalist Republican.
Disgraceful, horrifying and shocking that one lone man has had the vision, determination & courage to stand up to this.
Greatest man of my lifetime.

Romney making fun of RP exclusion?
oh, and this comment directed at Ron Paul while they were cutting each other off left & right re "islamic terorrism" (Ron Paul, of course the logical one explaining we need to know WHY people attack us..)
(about 1/3 down the page in the transcript)
MR. ROMNEY (?): We're going to miss you tomorrow night. (Laughter.)
I can only guess this is about the exclusion at the Fox debate.
It's definitely worth reading the transcript (someone posted below-- thanks!)

Actually...
...I think it was McCain! I heard that comment as well, and a youtube clip of the exchange that prompted that quip labeled it as McCain...and it does sound like McCain...his accent anyway.

Romney praises Bush
I can't believe Romney is praising GW's action on the war (in his first debate response)
Does he not realize how LOW the Bush's ratings are right now?!
And that 70% of Americans are against the war?!
Oh, yeah, I forgot... these guys dont' really care what the American PEOPLE want... just what their corp/military/indus benefactors want!!

just finished watching
Ron Paul did great!
He was the only one talking sense.
The truth of his message can't help but radiate through the mess of rhetoric and mud-slinging coming from the other politicians.
that debate made me wanna
that debate made me wanna puke......paul didn't do well.
that's just my first reaction. i gotta watch again but.......

Paul did well (but what he didn't say...
Paul had a great, strong, reasonable, prominent showing in the first half of the debate. I think he could be less emphatic about how sprawling a problem terrorism is. It happens. What he didn't say in the debate that he's said before is that the two MOST Islamic countries have the least suicide terrorism and the two countries with the most terrorism aren't even ISLAMIC. I think he could bring up Michael Scheuer and Chalmer's book about the motivations behind suicide terrorism. That would help his argument. But he did get in the point about our propping up dictators. It made him sound less naive.
It was a good debate; nicely moderated and mostly interesting with regards to actual issues and not just platform chatter.

Dress the Part & Turn Heads!....
In his next televised debate or appearance and in following, Ron Paul should dress in an iconic and memorable fashion capturing the revolutionary spirit of his stance and campaign, forcing Americans to question how big of a government we really want. Think how IMPACTING it would be if he walked out on stage dressed like one of our forefathers and armed with lots of Thomas Jefferson quotes!!!!...... Get people talking and reminding them why the Constitution was written.
